Brock’s favorite local bands at this moment…
I haven’t really been paying attention to the Capital District’s Albany music scene as of late. Why? Because the music scene is no longer good anymore as it used to be in the past. There are a few really good bands around here that I have been enjoying recently. Who are they?
These bands are here:
- Phantogram – Like a lot of people, I’m a huge Phantogram fan too. I have a feeling this band will get signed to a major label one day that they will no longer be called local.
- Jermaine Wells & The Ill Funk Ensemble – Thanks to their song, “Summertime”, I ended up buying their album “Catching Wreck” from Itunes. Very good stuff. These guys are one of the best party bands around the area and they do both originals and covers.
- Charlie Watts Riots – Simply the best rock n’ roll band around. Check out their album “Long Story Short” and you would hear some kick ass, tight rock n’ roll. Love the band, love the album. I wanna check out a show of theirs soon.
- Public Noise Concern – A three piece, all girl punk rock band I’ve been enjoying as of late. They know what true punk is all about. I’m not saying this ’cause they are kids, I find them truly talented songwriters. They write professionally and musically. I will check them out at a show too.
- Katie Haverly – I finally got her older album, “Around the Bend” from Itunes, and I was absolutely blown away by that record. Beautiful guitar playing and singing. Katie Haverly has always been one of my favorite local female songwriters around the area. I love this woman’s music and I hope she comes back with a new album.
- Sean Rowe – I’ve always supported Sean’s music from day 1. Can’t stop listening to his album, “Magic”. Fantastic record all the way through. This man is an amazing talent who don’t sound like anyone else but himself. His songwriting is amazing.
- Rob Skane – Liked him from day 1 and still support him today. Rob rock’s. Get his new album, “Phantom Power Trip” soon.
That’s pretty much about all. Most local music isn’t good anymore like I said, but those acts above, I’m a loyal supporter of all of them.
