This month is “Game of Thrones” marathon for me…

March 10, 2012 Leave a comment

With the return of “Game of Thrones – Season 2″ coming in April 1st, I have decided to start re-watching “Season 1″ on DVD tonight. Watched the first two episodes. “Game of Thrones” DVD, HBO did a really good job with them. The picture and sound is really nice.

Plus, I have also decided to start re-reading, “A Clash of Kings”. The second book of the series. I want to be reminded of the plot for “Season 2″, so I’m re-reading the second book. Once I started the second book, I still couldn’t put it down. The book is still addicting just like the first time I read it.

I just love the series too much. The books and the show. It’s a celebration, that’s what it’s all about.

I have three favorite characters for the “Game of Thrones” series: Tyrion, Arya, and Daenerys. Of course, I loved Khal Drogo and Eddard Stark, but they were only around for the first season, not trying to give spoilers.

Wait until you see “Game of Thrones – Season 2″ which will be adapted from, “A Clash of Kings”. The Arya storyline for the next one will be interesting. The next book focuses on Arya more.

Man, I can’t wait for this show to comeback! Season 2 premiere date is officially April 1st. Season 1 comes out on DVD this coming Tuesday. I’m definitely buying the DVD, so I can re-watch Season 1 before Season 2. I love the books, and love the show. “Game of Thrones” is one of the best shows on TV other than “Walking Dead”, “Dexter”, and “Breaking Bad”.

Brock thinks, “The Artist”, is the right choice for BEST PICTURE, but the rest of the Oscars was disappointing…

February 27, 2012 Leave a comment

I know last night’s Oscars are going to be questionable for some. Some people are going to think what the hell were they thinking, giving a movie with no talking, the most credit last night. The problem with that is, most young people of this generation, don’t understand what, “silent film” is. I never even heard of that film, “The Artist”, until last night. Never saw the trailers before. Since the movie was getting the most recognition last night, I had to look it up online for myself, and to me, “The Artist”, looks like a very interesting movie. I’m probably going to check the movie out when it arrives on DVD.

I love silent film. That is how movies and Hollywood all started back in the 1920′s – 30′s. Silent film was the beginning of movies. The makers behind, “The Artist”, just simply wanted to give the genre a comeback to the movie industry. If you call yourself a movie buff, and don’t understand silent film, then you’re not a true movie buff. Like I said, I love silent film. Silent movies like the original “Phantom of the Opera”, “Metropolis”, “Nosferatu”, etc. Ever hear of Charlie Chaplin? He was a legendary silent film actor, back in the day! Silent film deserves to comeback to the movies. After, “The Artist”, you can expect more silent movies to be made in the future.

As far as the rest of the Oscars go, it was okay. Billy Crystal’s opening segment, was kind of boring and not funny. He started off parodying other Hollywood movies in the opening segment, and then he came out on stage doing his usual song & dance thing, every time he hosted. I thought Billy was kind of boring, and  it made me wish Eddie Murphy was hosting it last night instead of him. Eddie, I’m sure would have made the show more entertaining.

The movie, “Hugo” started to get the most awards last night. I haven’t even seen, “Hugo”, yet, but I want to. I love Martin Scorsese’s work and I’ll wait to see that film when it arrives on DVD.

Most of the Oscar winners were disappointing last night, to be honest with you. There were only a few that I agreed with. I’m happy for Octavia Spencer that she won for Best Supporting Actress for the movie, “The Help”, which is well deserved. Octavia actually got an emotional standing ovation from the crowd, and she deserved that as well. She was obviously, the best thing about that movie.

I’m glad that Meryl Streep finally won an award. Even though she holds the most record breaking nominations, she hasn’t won an award since “Sophie’s Choice” in 1982. So if you think she’s won a lot of awards, not true. She may have been nominated a lot, but out of all the nominations, so far, she won about 3 or 4  awards, I think. She’s an amazing actress who can play just about anything.

I am actually glad they didn’t give the “Best Actress”, award to Michelle Williams, ’cause “My Week With Marilyn”, looks like a terrible movie, in my opinion. Michelle doesn’t make a good portrayal of Marilyn at all, because Michelle looks nothing like Marilyn.

While Christopher Plummer is a great actor, I was disappointed with his win. Nick Nolte, got robbed for “Best Actor” for “Warrior”, he really should ‘ve gotten it.

As for the red carpet intro before the show, Sacha Baron Cohen was The Dictator was there but he had a couple of women with him. He was interviewed by Ryan Seacrest for the E! channel and I heard that Sacha dumped ashes all over Ryan. Of course, I find that fake, kind of a work. This Sacha vs. The Oscars feud, is kind of like a wrestling storyline. Kind of like what Andy Kauffman did back in the old days. Sacha wasn’t really banned from the Oscars, and proof of that, he showed up in the celebrity interviews during the Oscar show itself. I’m sure Sacha was there in the audience somewhere out of character watching the show, but he had to be there anonymously, so this publicity stunt won’t get ruined. This stunt is entertaining though and it’s good publicity for the film, “The Dictator”, that’s why they’re doing it. It is their way of marketing the movie.

Last night’s Oscars was okay. It should have been a little better.

Looking forward to the Oscars tonight…

February 26, 2012 Leave a comment

Tonight, I’ll be watching the Oscars, and after the show, I’ll post my review. I’ll be watching the red carpet opener just to see what Sacha Baron Cohen is going to do. He’s going to appear as the Dictator for sure, but you know he’s going to do something crazy for a laugh just to get the media going. It’ll be interesting.

Everyone thinks the Best Picture winner could go to “The Descendants”, but it could go to something else. Either, “Hugo” or “War Horse” could take the win too. These three films would be the most likely choices to win “Best Picture”. I would be surprised if “The Help” actually gets it but I doubt it though. “The Help” is a great movie.

I’ll be DVR’ing tonight’s “Walking Dead” episode, while I’m watching the Oscars. I’ll watch the new “Walking Dead” episode tomorrow. I watch the Oscars yearly.

Thought: “Breaking Bad” is my new favorite show!!!

February 24, 2012 Leave a comment

After all the few TV shows that I love to watch like “Friday Night Lights”, “24″, “The Walking Dead”, “Game of Thrones”, “Dexter”… you can now add “Breaking Bad” to the list!!! “Breaking Bad” is such an incredibly addicting show. I couldn’t stop watching ever since I started.

I’m just amazed on how realistic the show is. These things that happen in the show can happen to people in real life. The show just wants to help bring awareness to cancer. Not only that, it also wants to give you an example of how being a drug dealer can mess up your life terribly, so you won’t do it.

The writing of the show is just excellent. The cast is very well acted. Especially, Bryan Cranston who plays Walt, wow, what a phenomenal actor he is. The show is pretty unpredictable too. It can go into some pretty interesting twist and turns. The show can get pretty intense and dramatic as well. Some of the storylines can be become pretty shocking and some can be very sad. I won’t spoil things for you but I can give you a hint that if you think the characters on the show will end in a happy ending for them, think again.

While it’s a shame that the show will only be getting 5 seasons, I can definitely see this show being made into a big screen movie too. I think Skyler (Walt’s wife), is a great character too.

People in facebook been trying to talk me into start watching it. Now I’m finally able to get around to it. I just watched the first two seasons, and I’m just starting season 3 on Netflix. Netflix don’t have Season 4 yet ’cause it’s not on DVD yet but will be soon. I want to catch up with all 4 seasons before Season 5 later this year.

After I finish watching “Breaking Bad” on Netflix, I plan to start watching, “Sons of Anarchy”. “Breaking Bad” is one of the best shows ever and it’s probably my no. 1. I can understand why the show is so popular. It feels good to finally start watching the show.

Report: Sacha Baron Cohen vs. The Academy, was this a fake publicity stunt?

February 24, 2012 Leave a comment

While reports say that the Academy just lifted the ban on Sacha Baron Cohen at the Oscars, I believe this back and forth feud was a fake. Just a simple way to help promote the movie, “The Dictator”.

Deadline, reports.

Will Sacha present an award in this character too? We’ll have to wait and see…

Oscar Predictions for this Sunday…

February 24, 2012 Leave a comment

Oscar predictions for this Sunday, I haven’t seen most of the movies this year but these are just my guesses that will win:

Best Picture – “The Descendants” or “Hugo”
Actor in a Leading Role – George Clooney for “the Descendants”
Actress in a Leading Role – Michelle Williams for “My Week With Marilyn” or Rooney Mara for “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”
Actor in a Supporting Role – Nick Nolte for “Warrior”
Actress in a Supporting Role – Octavia Spencer for “The Help”
Animated Feature Film – “Rango”
Directing: Alexander Payne for “The Descendants”
Writing (Adaptive Screenplay): “Moneyball” (because of Aaron Sorkin)
Writing (Original Screenplay): “Midnight in Paris” by Woody Allen

I remember, I once said Nick Nolte was snubbed from the Oscars, but I looked at the Nominations list again and saw him on there. I must of missed it, someone should have told me!

I hate most award shows, but the Oscars I like to watch. It’s pretty much the only award show I enjoy more than the others. Looking forward to the Oscars, Sunday night. I’ll be DVR’ing the “Walking Dead” while watching it.

Report: Okay, Sacha Baron Cohen not banned from the Oscars, but might not be allowed to wear, “The Dictator” costume…

February 23, 2012 Leave a comment

The Academy were quick to respond to reports and they denied banning Sacha Baron Cohen. They’re just waiting to see what he’s planning to do. He’s planning to show up in character in, “The Dictator” (pictured above), but the Academy is worried that he might do something crazy and offensive.

The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Oh please, the Academy should not be taking him so seriously. The guy’s a comedian and a pretty funny one, I must say. I am looking forward to “The Dictator” ’cause it looks like a funny ass movie. I like Sacha’s films when he’s starring in the leading role. Yes, “Borat” and “Bruno” are both good movies. Sascha is obviously politically motivated ’cause all three of these films are based on politics, in some way.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Sacha is going to do this Sunday at the Oscars. The man is unpredictable. Since they might not allow him to show up as the Dictator, what’s stopping him from showing up as Bruno or Borat? Ever think about that, eh?

I’m looking forward to the Oscars this Sunday. I’ll be DVR’ing the Walking Dead while I’m watching it. I’ll  post my Oscar predictions later tonight.

Report: Sacha Baron Cohen banned from attending the Oscars!!!!!

February 22, 2012 Leave a comment

The Academy, just banned actor/comedian, Sacha Baron Cohen from attending the Oscars this Sunday night, even though he has a role in the film, “Hugo” (which is nominated for Best Picture). The reason? They’re just worried that he may come on the red carpet in character of the upcoming film he’s in, “The Dictator”. Plus, I’m sure they’re worried that Sacha might do something crazy & offensive on the red carpet (like mooning people or doing homosexual dancing to other men that he’s known to doing).

Deadline reports.

*sigh* I’m real tired of the Oscars giving Sacha a hard time. It just goes to show that the Academy can’t understand comedy. I know comedies have gotten Oscar nods in the past, but they would be family friendly comedies. I don’t think any slapstick or offensive comedies got anything over the years.

In reality, I don’t think he would do anything crazy or stupid ’cause he would be grown up enough to know what kind of show he is on. He attended the Golden Globes out of character many times.

He maybe controversial, yes, but this shows that he is talented at what he is doing, even if he is creating negative attention.

Report: Lindsay Lohan to host SNL March 3rd, Jack White is musical guest…

February 19, 2012 Leave a comment

If she gets cleaned up with the drugs and sober up on the alcohol, then maybe she gets her career back on track for once. I’ll probably watch, and I’m sure a lot of you will too. Even though she’s the most hated celebrity, you won’t resist this. Yes, she’s done SNL before, but I’m sure you’re all wondering what she’s going to do for the upcoming episode. This episode will indeed get big ratings.

I don’t watch SNL much anymore as I used to. I used to watch it all the time when Adam Sandler and Chris Farley used to be around. I don’t really care for any of the new guys. I don’t even like Andy Samberg, Seth Myers or Bill Hader.

I only watch SNL if there is a good host or a musical guest is on.

Deadline, reports.
