Thought: Rehearsing for the P4th gig…

Yesterday, I spent a while going through my original songs. Trying to see if I still remember the lyrics to all of my songs since I haven’t played a gig in a long while.  It appears that I still remember most all of my lyrics to my songs to my surprise.

I’m still on the break and hiatus of performing gigs, I accepted this P4th one since I miss playing shows out there and I want to get out there at least once or a couple of times this summer to play a few shows. I’ve been concentrating on the guitar skills more than the actual songwriting to be honest so I haven’t been really writing many songs, still trying to learn better guitar.

I’m honestly starting to get bored of the acoustic guitar, and I want to soon get into electric playing. Become an electric player in hopes of getting my own band going down the road. I always liked acoustic music, don’t get me wrong. But I had always been into electric rock music my entire life and I was meant to pick up the electric guitar from the very beggining. I really want to write rock songs. I’ve always been writing rock songs that were meant for electric guitar in a full band but I write them on acoustic first to save them for the full band electric down the road.

Me not gigging a whole lot this time around has nothing to do with the negative and childish drama I get from people in the music scene, I really could care less about that anymore as I’ve made a vow to stay out of negative drama completely last year and so far it’s working. If you’re a musician, and if so many people hate you, so fucking what. It’s not the end of the world. You should only concentrate on yourself and the people who support your music, don’t feed the haters.

You know, people out there can call me a negative spiteful troll all they want. They can judge and slander me all they want to. The fact is, people know nothing about me when they think they do. I do what I want to do and say what I want to say, period.

Anyhow, for my P4th gig, I’ll probably will wind up bringing my videocam to tape my performance for youtube, plus to videotape the other bands playing there for a little bit, and maybe interview some people at the club in a videoblog just for a little fun and laughs, I’ll look around for really drunk and wasted people to get them going on the Brock cam, lol.

Looking forward to playing there so those in the area should make plans into coming out. I put a “gig calendar” link in this blog for more information. I’ll be soon making a flyer for this gig once I get full details and information.

  1. I have done many “open mic” nights at Artie’s and can’t wait for this show to see you play. I have heard the “buzz” in the “scene” and want to experience it myself.
I know how you feel with the acoustic/electric dilemma.
I get that way with my writing and more often than not- with “the ladies.”
It can be very “hot/cold” or like a “love/hate” kind of thing if you know what I mean.
One minute I am calling them and screaming obcene things (many “dirty w” and “filthy c” words) and telling them I hope they die and I hate them.
Then I’ll call back 15 minutes later completely in love and I truly mean it.
So, sometimes we have to go with our feelings! Trust your “inner voice!”
Everyone has a genius and an artist inside and I cant wait to see your show at Positively 4th Streeet.

  2. p.s. as for those HATERS. I have had my share, too. It reminds me of an old story. Haters hate this story because they know it calls their hating ass out! Here goes…
Malba Tahan illustrates the dangers of words: a woman said so often that her neighbor was a thief that the young man was finally arrested. Some days later, they discovered that he was innocent and set him free. Then he sued the woman. – Comments are not so serious – she said to the judge. – Granted – answered the magistrate. – When you get back home today, write down everything bad you said about the young man, then tear up the paper and throw the bits away as you walk along. Come back tomorrow to hear the sentence. The woman obeyed and returned the following day. – You are pardoned if you give me the bits of paper you spread on the street yesterday. Otherwise you will be condemned to a year in prison – declared the magistrate. – But that’s impossible! The wind has blown them all away! – In the very same way, a simple comment can be spread by the wind and destroy a man’s honor, and afterwards it is impossible to repair the harm that has been done. And he sent the woman off to jail.
