Mason Jennings born in Honolulu, Hawaii is a pop/rock/folk singer/sonwriter who is known for writing acoustic based songs with catchy melodies, intimate lyrics, and distinct Dylanish like singing voice. Mason is a high school dropout to pursue his dreams to make a living on playing music. The young Mason Jennings released several albums under small indie labels over the years and very quicly grew a huge following of his music. His fans are mostly people of the young generation in their early teens to the thirties. Mason only had one album signed under a major label which was “Boneclouds” under Epic records released in 2006, the album included the hit single “Be Here Now”.
Now Mason Jennings is no longer on a major label and went back to his indie roots where he started. He is now signed under Jack Johnson’s owned label Brushfire Records and released the new album “In the Ever” through it. After listening to the album a couple of times, I really enjoyed it. Some of my favorite tracks on the record are “Something About Your Love”, “I Love You and Buddha Too”, “Fighter Girl”, and “How Deep Is That River”. I pretty much enjoy the entire album but those songs I listed I love the most.
I’m happy for Mason for going back to his indie label roots, because there is a big difference between “Boneclouds” and “In the Ever”. “Boneclouds” was an ok album, but “In the Ever” is ten times much better. I would reccomend it.
Score for Mason Jennings “In the Ever” = *** (3 stars as in “good”)
