Poor Rosie O’ Donnell, it seems that she can’t get any love no matter what TV show she does. In the “Ask Ro” section on her website a fan asks her if “Rosie Live” on NBC will continue and Rosie said it will not.
She admitted that the show had low ratings and negative feedback from viewers.

NBC did a smart thing and good fucking riddance. They were insane to put her on TV the day before Thanksgiving to begin with.
Lets hope the Osbournes and John Mayer will do good on their variety shows. Whether the Osbournes and John Mayer do good or not, they’ll still be watcheable and likeable ’cause hey, they are the Osbournes and John Mayer, America likes them.
While it is good that Variety Shows are starting to make a comeback, they need to find the right hosts. Variety shows like the Sonny and Cher show, The Smothers Brothers, the Johnny Cash Show, the Muppets, were all great. I don’t think Variety shows today would be in the same league as the classic ones.

I miss those old variety shows. The best one was called Pink Lady and Jeff, it was two hot Japanese disco dancing singers named Mie and Kei who couldn’t really speak English, and a funny American guy who had to explain everything to them. He’d ask if they understood something, and they’d nod and say “yes” with smiles, then they’d look at each other and frown and say “no!” It was funny every time! The guest stars were always hip, like Red Buttons, Sid Caesar, and Larry Hagman. And every episode had the girls do a choreographed dance number in shiny spandex outfits, and the show would always end up with the girls in a hot tub with whoever the guest was. Nobody would make TV this daring anymore, because TV doesn’t have geniuses like Fred Silverman running it anymore. It was a Sid and Marty Krofft Production.
I just looked at that pic of Rosie again and though, cor blimey she’s a real minger, innit?

I miss those great old variety shows like the Smothers Brothers, Sonny and Cher, Dean Martin, etc. Dolly Parton tried to bring that style back and, while she is very talented, I think her mistake was to be in every skit and every performance. The older successful variety shows usually allowed the guest stars to perform a song individually, as well as doing skits, songs or dances with their hosts. On the other hand, I can’t remember any guest on Dolly Parton’s variety show who was ever allowed to perform solo in any part of the show. Usually the guests sing, dance and/or act in a skit with the star, but also perform at least once once by themselves. Dolly is a lovely, gracious person, but I don’t think she should have been in every performance. Hope the new variety shows are succesful and revive the genre — and give us actual variety — not put the star in every single scene.

Dolly Parton is kind of hot for her age. I’d love to grab hold of those big boobs of hers!!! Who wouldn’t?
