The main reason why I’ve been thinking about switching gears from local music is ’cause I maybe switching careers. It’s kind of like Joaquin Phoenix backing down from movies to do something else. Well I could back down from local music to do something else. That is writing. Fiction writing. Becoming an author has been my original dream and I’m doing my best to make that a reality. If I can’t make a name for myself in music, why not get back into fiction writing, maybe I could make a name for myself doing that instead?
I actually want to publish my first novel sometime and I might just do that by self publishing it locally. I haven’t written any new novels or short stories yet, but will soon this year. I’ve been writing my whole life and the genre I’ve been interested in the most is horror and crime stories. I’ve been coming up with crazy story ideas as of late and will start writing them soon.
I plan to put up an author only website hopefully, once I get some stories finished and copywritten, so I can share them publicily. I want to get this fiction writing thing rolling soon, hopefully this year.

Fiction writing is pretty sweet. I love fiction writing. The last fiction writing book I read was all about the holocaust. It was really interesting, but depressing too.
Kev, how would you handle it if someone asked you to sign their book while you were eating lunch at TGIFriday’s or something? If it were me I’d try to act like I didn’t mind, but in my heart I’d be a little annoyed.
Or are you just going to post them to the Internet and that’s it?

Yeah, I’ll probably only post my short stories on the internet. Short stories only.
As for full blown novels, I’ll try to find a publishing company that wants to publish ’em and I could hopefully release them that way. Yeah, I know, I’ll need a lawyer/agent and editor to do all that stuff with, that stuff is in the planning stages. All famous writers start off small and build their way into the big time, and that’s what I’m doing. I’ll start off writing stories locally, and hopefully get my books published to the big time.
For years ever since I was a kid, I’ve always fantasized about having a book of mine sitting on the shelves of every bookstore nationwide, and I will do my best to make it actually happen.
I want to write screenplays for film/TV, as well.
I got crazy story ideas coming up in my head, and I need to get them out of me soon.

Whatever you do, steer clear of a website called Long Tale Press!
Seriously though, how odd is it that two local music, mostly originals staples like you and I decide to give up on music at the same time? And furthermore, how odd is it that it turns out we BOTH started our artistic lives by writing words instead of singing them, and we have fallen in love with that art form again?
Oh, I’m not giving up music completely. I’ll always play guitar, make music and write songs too ’til the day I die. I am just putting an end to my local music scene adventures.
Like I always say about the music scene: haven’t been interested in it, I find the music scene boring, and I don’t like the attitudes of musicians and promoters out there. So I said, the hell with it, I’ll give up local music and return to something that I love, writing stories.
I’ll never give up guitar playing, no way.
