With even more shocking news, this time it’s in the world of politics and science. Today, Obama confirms NASA will be able to go to Mars.
More on it here:

We all know who the first man to stop on Earth’s moon and that is no one other than Neil Armstrong. Who will be the first human being to step on Mars? The first human being stepping on Mars would make world history indeed but to be honest, I don’t want Nasa exploiting Mars at all. They should leave the planet well left alone. Obama wants peace with Americans? Well he should let Mars have peace too. If NASA exploits Mars, that would make ’em terrorists.
My question is if they are going to experiment human beings stepping foot on Mars, how are they going to make it out alive? You can’t just walk on planet Mars with just an astronaut suit, that’s gonna kill ya. Mars isn’t the moon. They need to discover what kind of things that are in Mars where a human can survive the planet. Like what kind of air the planet has or the planet has no air at all. They need to know how hot the planet is to step on and all that. Considering Mars is the fourth planet from the Solar System away from the Sun I would imagine it would be fucking HOT. Not just HOT as you feel in the summer time, but if any human steps on Mars without protection, you’d probably be fried into ashes very quickly.
An astronaut would probably need some sort of protection suit that is very cold in order to survive that planet. I’d be surprsied if the first person leaves Mars alive. I don’t think Nasa will ever find a way for a human to survive that planet. Even if they do find some protection that will make a human live on Mars, you just never know how dangerous Mars is to be walking around that planet. What if some giant alien comes out of the ground and swallows you. Aaaaahhh, that stuff is in the movies, but still though never know if there are creatures on that planet. There could be alien life forms living on Mars, you just never know.
I wish Nasa luck. They’re going to need a lot of it. Stepping foot on Mars won’t happen right away, it’ll take years of investigation.

I dunno what to tell you, Kev. But you might want to read a book or two on space. We’re the 3rd planet from the sun. Mars is the 4th.. the farther you get, the colder it gets… notice those little white spots on the top of Mars? those are ice caps. They have sent probes and various other missions there, so they know what kind of temperatures are on the surface, they also know that there is not oxygen to breathe(notice the lack of trees).
You have a point. Even if I could be wrong, you could be wrong too. You just never know how hot or how cold that planet really is. It can be really hot on Mars too, depends how the planet revolves around the sun. It can get very close to the Sun on how it revolves.
Kev
If you read my post, I said Mars is the 4th planet away from the sun so I got that right. I always thought Mars was a hot planet ’cause it was always colored red. The surface must be really hot to be walking on, but if there’s ice caps and evidence of water they found, it must be cold too. It’s too confusing ’cause Mars is a mysterious planet. Lots of questions to be answered.
Kev
Kev, Mars is FURTHER away from the Sun than Earth. NASA knows what the temperature there is. Read.
Actually, the temperature varies. It’s not always cold there all the time. In the summers the temperature can average about 20 degrees to 70 degrees or a little higher. In the winters it can get way below zero. It’s not always cold there as you think. On top of that, do you want to know where the red comes from on the planet? That is iron oxide. That material is made up of iron and rust which the only way to make iron oxide, that something have to be extremely hot. So somewhere in time, Mars had to be really hot years ago. Mars has always been mysterious, nobody knows the answers to anything. Not even Nasa
Kev
I mean, you guys make it sound like it would be easy for NASA to land in MARS and leave it safely, and to make it out alive. They might figure out how to land on Mars safely, but leaving the planet could be very dangerous. And you would never what’s on that planet that could harm a human being’s body. You may be able to enter Mars, and leave Mars, to return to Earth safely, but you would never know what you would catch from Mars that could make you sick. You could die no matter the situation on planet Mars. I doubt Nasa would ever find a way a human being could survive Mars. I’d be surprised if the first person that tries to step on Mars dies for whatever reason.
I know about Nasa trying to investigate Mars in the past. Their last mission to Mars was back in 2008 when they sent a robotic arm which helped them confirm water and ice on Mars…but guess what folks??? Nasa couldn’t get the robotic arm back and they couldn’t contact it. So it must of dissapeared somewhre. That’s proof that landing on Mars is not gonna be easy.
Can you guys see why I thought Mars would be a hot planet? It’s because of the iron oxide and molten lava on the surface.
I really think Obama is really delusional if he thinks Nasa would be capable of sending men to Mars. Never gonna happen, in my opinion.
On top of that, we got better things to worry about in this world like winning these wars, and trying to catch Al Qaeda and Bin Laden. I would like to see Mars explored and would like to see the first man step on Mars one day, but now it’s not the time. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Kev
They can survive on mars the same way they survived on the moon. With special suits. It’s not like they’re going to be dancing naked on the polar ice cap or anything.
And they’re not talking about colonizing or living there. They just want to go up and gather evidence and material for experiments.
Surviving on mars is possible as technology advances. After all, how do you think the first humans survived on earth?
“With special suits. It’s not like they’re going to be dancing naked on the polar ice cap or anything.”
If you’ve been paying attention to my post, that’s what I’ve been saying, they would need some special suits and investigate Mars further on what can protect humans. It’s not gonna be easy as you guys think it is. It’ll take years of investigation. In my opinion, I don’t think NASA is ever going to find a way for a human being to survive that planet. There is no way they will ever find out.
Look at the Mars wikipedia information:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars#Atmosphere
Look at Exploration section in Mars, this part here: “Roughly two-thirds of all spacecraft destined for Mars have failed in one manner or another before completing or even beginning their missions.”
They tried sending spacecrafts over there many times before, and haven’t been successful.
Kev
Kev says:Can you guys see why I thought Mars would be a hot planet? It’s because of the iron oxide and molten lava on the surface.
Have you ever seen to Hawaii? google hawaii red dirt. Our soil is red here from the iron oxide, and there is molten lava AND active volcanoes. I haven’t fried to ashes yet.
“Have you ever seen to Hawaii? google hawaii red dirt. Our soil is red here from the iron oxide, and there is molten lava AND active volcanoes. I haven’t fried to ashes yet.”
That’s Hawaii, not Mars, dude. Mars would be totally different than Earth. The ground may not be hot to walk on Mars, but you never know what will kill you there.
Kev
You’re more likely to killed on earth than mars. You won’t get shot on mars. You won’t get hit by a bus on mars. You won’t get stabbed on mars. You won’t get beat to death on mars. You won’t drown on mars. You might get a deadly disease on mars, but guess what? You get deadly disease on earth too.
And I never said it would be easy. I’m just saying it’s not impossible. It can be done. There was a time when two thirds of every moon shot ended in failure, but eventually they got it right.
You may not get shot or get hit by a car in Mars, but visiting Mars would be extremely dangerous that people don’t even realize. No matter how safe the spacesuit is and even if you could safely walk around with protection on Mars, something dangerous can always still happen. If an astronaut walks around on Mars, exploring the planet and investigating, think how easily he could get lost on there and finding out Mars is not letting him use his electronic gadget to make his way back to the spacecraft. If he gets lost, his suit can run out of air to breathe in or whatever they use to protect him. What if he dissapears all of a sudden and never comes back to the space craft, poof, he’s gone like that. Like I said above, there could possibly be alien lifeforms living on there somewhere, you can never tell. I’m not saying that an alien can take him, but a human being won’t even last 20 minutes walking around on Mars.
I don’t see NASA going on Mars right away. It probably won’t happen for 20 or 30 years or later.
Just because NASA can successfully send probes or cameras over to Mars, doesn’t mean they can successfully send a human being there. If you look at some of the Mars rover pictures, the surface and the ground is nothing but rocks and iron oxide dust. Kind of like the dessert almost. Mars also have volcanoes. Nothing like volcanoes you see in Hawaii, but the volcanoes on Mars is more massive. The volcanoes on Mars does flow lava bigger than Hawaii. If the volcanoes on Mars erupt, the astronauts would have no time to escape quickly.
There are plenty of reasons to think how Mars can be dangerous. If NASA is serious going to Mars, they would need more than one astronaut to walk around and explore. It’ll be different than the Earth’s moon adventures.
