I have been thinking about buying a bass guitar for a long time. The reason? Simply for home recording. Another reason is, I don’t really like the sound of MIDI bass when working with full band tracks. I would like to have real bass guitar. So when I get the extra cash this summer, I’ll probably end up buying a cheap bass guitar sometime. I don’t think I’ll ever play bass guitar live, just for home Pro Tools recording. I would record guitar and bass guitar, then I’ll put MIDI drums behind it to make it sound like an actual band. I never played the bass guitar before in my life, but I learned that if you already know how to play the guitar real good, you already know how to play bass. Both instruments are pretty much the same except the bass only have four strings obviously. Plus, I don’t keep my original songs too complicated and they’re not that challenging to play anyways. I like to keep my originals simple.
I really want to make full band rock tracks which is something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m learning and figuring it all out. I don’t have an actual band yet but I’ll just do all this myself for now.
Getting your original songs you hear in your head and onto to recording shouldn’t be that hard ’cause in “Music Creator 5” software you can manually enter notes in certain keys, tempos and all that. So you can match the melody you hear in your head and get them off your chest that way.
I got tons of rock song ideas I need to get out of me. They are upbeat and tight rock n’ roll. Not slow ballad stuff. I would say they would fit in the punk and glam rock genres. The stuff that you hear in the 70’s. The type of music that I mostly listen to.
