CD Review: Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream”

So I finally bought Katy Perry’s new album, “Teenage Dream” from Itunes. Yes, she’s a pop artist…but she’s one of the good ones. When I listened to this record, it really didn’t feel like a pop record to me. It is still kind of rock n’ roll in a way, giving it an 80’s feel of new wave music. Stuff that would you would hear at the boardwalk near the beach at the ocean. While the song, “California Gurls” is a mainstream hit, yes, there are better songs on the album, like the title track, “Teenage Dream” is a great song. The whole record is great. She’s got a unique way of writing current music. The songs on the album are actually pretty tight. Energetic. Her singing is not Celine Dion or Barbara Streisand, but with this album, she proves that she doesn’t have to sing like those artists. Katy Perry is addicting to listen to because she feels like old school music. I hate most mainstream pop music, but for some reason, I keep listening to Katy. She has a romantic feel to her songs that makes men want to listen to her stuff. Her songs makes you feel like you’re in a relationship with her when you listen to her songs. I don’t care what the haters say about Katy Perry ’cause she’s a talented artist. I’m liking her more than Lady Gaga in fact. Katy’s the better songwriter. I need to listen to some pop music for some fun music to workout to at the gym with my Ipod. Katy is indeed good workout music. For those who don’t like pop or Katy Perry, I’d suggest you give this album a listen. You might like it yourself. You don’t have to like pop  music to like Katy Perry. If you’re a rock or metal fan, she’ll make anybody get into her music. That’s how powerful this woman’s music is. I’m going to be listening to this one quite a lot.
