Billy Idol, the legendary controversial punk rocker, has made a deal with Touchstone (a division of Simon & Schuster) publishing company to write his first time ever autobiography. The name of the novel will be titled, “Dancing With Myself”, named after one of his hit radio singles. Billy Idol is a punk rock pioneer who sang for earlier punk rock bands such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, Generation X, and of course, he had a very successful solo career run with his longtime guitarist, Steve Stevens. This blond spiked hair British guy had a huge music career in the 80’s, but his music career started to tank when he did that 1993 techno album, “Cyberpunk”. After that album, Billy Idol took a long hiatus to do some acting in movies. In 1995 Billy Idol reunited with guitarist Steve Stevens to release, “Devil’s Playground”. Billy promises this autobiography will include everything about his life, yes, that means: drugs, booze, women. Billy Idol announces the news at his official website, here.
Oh yeah, I’m a big Billy Idol fan, so I’m definitely buying this when it hits the bookshelves for sure! His latest album, “Devil’s Playground” never got the popularity it deserved but I think that album was the best album of his career. Hope Billy will do another new album with Steve pretty soon.
