Spac’s “Battle of the Bands” event tomorrow night, will I go to support it???

Probably not. The only reason I went last year, was to support and help EBJ win the whole thing. Plus, I wanted to see what a “Battle of the Bands” event was like. I still stand by my feelings about the event, that most of it was a joke and pretty pretentious. I listened through all of the bands that are a part of the finalists this year, and most of the bands this year aren’t any good except for one, who I think will probably win the whole thing. She is Margo Macero. Her songwriting is real good, and she has a great voice. I know what good talent is, and she is it. She has it all. I wish her luck and rooting for her. Check her out, here. Her songwriting is pretty spot on. If she’s not the one to win the whole thing tomorrow, then there’s something wrong with the event and I will dislike Battle of the Bands even more. I can’t see anyone else winning the thing but her. I’m betting my money she’ll win. She’s got my support.

  1. I think the bigger question is does it really matter if you support it or not? Are you even relevant to the local music scene? You don’t have an album or a demo or even play out. Isn’t every band playing SPAC superior to you just for the simple fact that they have an act to bring to a stage? Does your support even matter at this point?

Not trying to attack you just making a point.

    1. 1) I do have a studio demo, I made back in 2006, it’s on my ReverbNation page, check it out.

      2) I do play out. I can understand why some would think that since I’ve taken a long break from it and haven’t played out in a while. I used to play out, quite a lot back in 2006 – 2011. I do play out sometimes still.

      3) My dislike toward “Battle of the Bands” probably doesn’t matter, but I have a right to have an opinion on it.

      1. I have been known to being an honest critic about local music for years. I don’t feel ashamed of it either. I’m used to people responding back acting like I’m nothing. It’s almost like, I’m not allowed to be honest about local music, but when I do, people call me the most negative person in the scene and then they start criticizing me, acting like other bands & musicians do way more than me. I have the right to be real about anything music, ’cause that’s what its here for, give feedback on it and give our opinions.

I did give this event a little “support” however, by predicting on who is going to win this thing. I’m actually looking forward to seeing who’s going to win it tomorrow.

  2. I stand corrected, you do have a demo. Dude I can see why you want to get a band together these songs would ROCK with a full band! Why are you sitting on these songs when you could be doing shows with a band? You’re close to Saratoga man you can find musicians to form a band.

The songs are totally good. Starting off with backstabbers is a cool idea. I saw on youtube some punk band covered one your songs. That proves that the songs can rock!

I agree with you on your 3rd point.

    1. Yeah, I want to form a band, hopefully soon. I do want to get a real album made but man, that shit costs so much money. It will be quite the budget to do it all, but I’m out job hunting still, and when I get a job, I’ll start saving to get my first album made. I do want it to happen myself.

  3. Back on topic, it looks like I’m not the only one who feels the same way about “Battle of the Bands”. Bands have been pulling out of this thing like crazy and two bands just pulled out of the 10 finalists just now.

  4. I’ve reluctantly done “Battle Of The Bands” in the past. It pisses me off when the winner is decided on audience votes instead of actual talent, basically who brought in the biggest crowd. Some of the competitions should be renamed “Battle of the Bar takings booster Bands”

    1. I agree man, that’s probably the reason it bothers me. A popularity contest, nothing more.

I wonder who won tonight, I’ll find out.

    2. Hmmmmm, can’t find out who won yet, everyone is keeping quiet on it so far, weird. The show should have been over with already as it usually starts at 6 p.m. I guess who ever the winner is, they’re too busy celebrating at a bar in town. We’ll hear something tomorrow. I’ll keep an eye out.
