The Best 15 Films of 2012…

Well, here it is folks! “The Best Films of 2012” is finally here! There are still a bunch of 2012 films I haven’t seen yet, but oh well, the year is 2012 is over, so I feel it’s about time to get this list up and get it out of the way now.

Remember, the films I pick in these “Best of 2012” list are just my opinions alone. So if you disagree with it, I don’t care!

Enjoy all. You may find some surprises in this list, you may not be all that surprised with the no. 1 choice, though! Here’s the list….

THE BEST FILMS OF 2012

15. Katy Perry – Part of Me
Probably the best music documentary I’ve seen that was made of a pop star. I love Katy Perry, and seeing this film in theater, just made me love her even more. The movie was well filmed and well put together. It made you understand Katy a little better, and she’s an inspiration. This is worthy of making the list.

14. Project X
I was skeptical of this film at first, which is why I waited for DVD rental, and to my surprise this film was really great! “Project X” was a hilarious comedy that had a really good plot. The writing was well done and it was just an all around, kick ass movie. I had some laughs watching this one. “Project X” is definitely one of the best comedies of the year, which is worthy of making it on here.

13. Pitch Perfect
Since this movie was getting positive reviews everywhere, I just had to check it out for myself. As some of you know, I have a pure hatred for singing competitions like all those reality shows you see on TV. Surprisingly enough, this movie was very enjoyable too! This film also had good writing. It was hilarious. The girls in the film were adorable, and there were some scenes where I couldn’t help but burst out laughing. This film could also be looked at as an educational tool for music, which is the whole point of it. This was a very entertaining movie, I loved it! Acca believe it.

12. Paranormal Activity 4
The Paranormal Activity franchise continues to impress me, and honestly, this is the best film of the series so far. I’m already looking forward to where the story goes from here. P.A. 4 had some big shockers in the film, that will get you thinking to yourselves, “WTF, just happened?” as soon as the film gets over. The Katie Featherston story is getting crazy. I know a lot of people watched the first one and gave up on the sequels, but you shouldn’t. They have a serious story that you should follow. I hope they keep going with these films.

11. The Hunger Games
I’ve read the book before the movie came out, but both the book and the movie are just as good. “The Hunger Games” movie was a thrill ride. Yes, this franchise is aimed at a younger audience, but this is no Harry Potter or Twilight, remember that. I still don’t understand why “The Hunger Games” is aimed at a younger audience when the material in it is too violent for kids, but that’s just me. I loved Jennifer Lawrence’s performance in this. I haven’t gotten the Blu Ray to this movie yet, but will get it soon. I’m definitely looking forward to “Catching Fire”, the next movie.

10. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Peter Jackson did it again, folks! I’m a big LOTR fan, but the original trilogy is too long and the films just drag on and on. Not with this film! Peter Jackson just made a masterpiece here, and honestly, The Hobbit, is better than the original trilogy. The first film of “The Hobbit”, is just an introduction of the story, so maybe what’s coming up ahead, will be even better in the sequels. Only Peter Jackson should be the one making movies adapted from classic novels, he is the master at it!

9. Moonrise Kingdom
I was never a big Wes Anderson fan, but he impressed me with his latest film. It’s a love story, about a young boy and a girl who run away together. It was a wonderful film and entertaining as hell. Probably Wes’s best film in his career.

8. The Expendables 2
Sly Stallone is back with another Expendables movie, but this time he decided to pass the directing duties to someone else. Sly must of watched the first film in which, he directed, and thought to himself, “Maybe someone else can make the next film better?”. The “Expendables 2” was much better than the first! Better plot! Better writing! Plus more badass tough guys like Chuck Norris and JCVD joining the cast. Also, Bruce Willis and Arnold having longer roles is a plus too! This was a badass film, and I’m already looking forward to, “EXP3”.

7. Prometheus
A lot of people gave this film mixed reviews, but I don’t know why! I absolutely loved it! It was a pretty smart movie and well written. Well acted, by the cast. The cinematography and special effects were incredible. I don’t know why so many people hated it? I thought “Prometheus” was phenomenal and glad that Ridley Scott finally returned to science fiction. The genre that I think that he is best at.

6. The Dark Knight: Rises
The latest and final installment to the Dark Knight trilogy, got mixed reviews, and I don’t understand why this film got mixed opinions as well. I thought this was a pretty epic movie. I loved Tom Hardy as Bane, he was one scary as hell, dude. I’m just glad they finally used a lesser known, Batman villain. I thought it was great seeing a different side of Bruce Wayne, in this film. I think this film is the best one of the trilogy and it’s a shame that the Nolan series have to end it with this one, but I understand why he wants to move on.

5. The Avengers
So, “The Avengers”, finally arrived this year. This is definitely one of the best superhero movies, I’ve seen in years. I was blown away by it, and I can’t think of any other director to make “The Avengers” other than, Joss Whedon, who is the perfect choice. Over the years, Hollywood had made too many superhero movies from Marvel to DC, but none of them have been that great. Finally, Hollywood made the perfect superhero movie that we’ve been wanting for a long time.

4. Lincoln
Spielberg finally releases his “Lincoln” film starring the great Daniel Day-Lewis. I think it’s Spielberg’s best historical drama film and Daniel’s best performance. It’s a pretty powerful and moving film, all the way through.

3. Django Unchained
Quentin Tarantino, created another masterpiece. His films seem to be getting better and better. Jamie Foxx and Leo Dicaprio were both badasses in this film. It was funny, violent, and an all around amazing movie.

2. Skyfall
I was going to make this the no. 1 choice, but I had to move it to no. 2 for a reason. “Skyfall” is not only the best Bond movie ever made, it is also one of the best films of the year. The James Bond franchise has gone downhill for a while now. They kept making horrible Bond movies, but they definitely did redeem themselves with this one. While this is not only an action packed ride, it also has a great script, good acting and directing all around. The action scenes will really blow your mind in this one. It’ll leave you goosebumps and wanting more. Daniel Craig is James Bond. The earlier actors who played the character, don’t even come close. Do yourself a favor and see “Skyfall” if you haven’t yet, I’m sure you still have time before it goes out.

1. Les Miserables
Like I said, I was going to make, “Skyfall”, my no. 1 choice, but when I saw “Les Miserables” last night, the movie musical, I was totally blown away. It was a beautiful movie all around. After seeing this film, I think “Les Miserables” would be the one to win BEST PICTURE at the Oscars this year, no matter what happens. I also think this film could land a lot of nominations. Hugh Jackman could get his first Oscar with this film, and I think Anne Hathaway’s performance in this film is Oscar worthy too. This film had mixed emotions. It can get very sad at times. There were even comedy scenes in this film to brighten up the mood after the sad scenes. I still can’t get some of the songs from this film out of my head, and it makes me want to buy the soundtrack soon. This movie is indeed a masterpiece. I absolutely loved it. This film is definitely going to win big at the Oscars for sure.

Hope you enjoyed this list!
Rock on!
