Do you wanna know one thing that sucks in the music industry? In the major label industry, there is a new trend going on with album releases. You know, those “Deluxe” albums that famous bands and solo artists have been releasing as of late. They release a new version of that album with much improved sound and all that stuff. Plus, on those “deluxe” albums they release a bunch of unreleased tracks that were recorded around that album came out. They also release demo versions of the songs of that album and new mixes. This have been happening a lot in the music industry and I can’t understand why. I can’t understand why they would re-release the original album and then they release the “Deluxe” versions.
I haven’t bought too many “Deluxe” albums over the last couple of years this have been going on. The only “Deluxe” albums that I own in my Itunes are Nirvana “Bleach”, Twisted Sister “Stay Hungry” and Iggy Azalea “The New Classic”.
The reason I’m not a big fan of “Deluxe” albums is for a few reasons…
1) They are nothing more than a cash grab, in my opinion
2) All the unreleased stuff on the “Deluxe” album versions takes out of the enjoyment of listening to the original album
3) Bands and artists shouldn’t be showing us how their songs were written. We shouldn’t know their secrets.
It is why I didn’t buy the Soundgarden “Superunknown – Deluxe” and why I’m not buying all the Led Zeppelin Deluxes. Once again, I prefer the original album.
I don’t like this “Deluxe” trend. Everybody’s been doing it. From legendary bands to newer artists. Just enjoy the art of the original album. That’s how music should be listened to, in my opinion. I just think the “Deluxe” releases are pretty ridiculous and they all need to stop.
