I was at Best Buy yesterday browsing around the store just for fun and to kill some time before the movie. I was looking at the PC software section to see what they have for DAW software for musicians and surprisingly enough, Best Buy DO have “Acoustic Mixcraft 6 & 7” the boxed editions sitting on the shelves. They have both Mixcraft 6 & 7 for $50.
Mixcraft 7 is brand new. Just got released this year so I think I’m definitely gonna get Mixcraft 7 soon and I’ll pick it up next time I go to Best Buy. Probably in a couple of weeks.
Mixcraft looks really good. Mixcraft makes all the other DAW’s out there looks bad. Mixcraft has everything a musician would want. It’s not just a recording program… it also has mixing and mastering which is what I need. It also has video editing so if I get this, I won’t need to get separate video software for the PC.
This software also allows you to make MIDI backing tracks whether you have a MIDI controller or not.
Mixcraft is pretty close to Apple’s Garageband but even better, in my opinion. So in a couple of weeks, next time I hit the mall, I’ll go to Best Buy and pick it up. I’m glad Best Buy has the Mixcraft software and I won’t have to download it from the website.
Mixcraft is getting very popular in the musicians community and I can’t wait to check it out myself.
I still didn’t get my studio speaker monitors yet. Amazon said they won’t be shipping more until Feb. 20 which is this Friday. So I’ll probably get the speakers either this week or next week. Probably next week. I think it’s a good idea to have studio speaker monitors so I can create a good sound with my music, ya know?
My new mini home recording studio is just about complete. I just need those studio monitors.

Good to see you making advances with this. I want my Kev Brock studio-quality album! And actually, I am starting the process of a home studio myself. I want to get a desktop computer that will be strictly dedicated to music, a DAW, drum program (I’m favoring EZ Drummer), headphones, a microphone, and a bass. Then I can create a full band sound on my own…although from time to time it would be cool to ask a bass playing friend to learn 3-4 songs instead of me doing all of it all the time. Let’s be each other’s accountability partners on this, man! And why not? I like your music and you like mine, so it should be easy to keep each other encouraged and mindful of that finish line.
yeah, I’m definitely planning on making a home-made studio quality album. That’s the whole goal. I wanna release my debut album for the internet only. Will probably release it on Itunes and stuff. I definitely wanna make it happen.

Yes and, just like with self-published books, you can upload music to Amazon as well.
Yeah, I’ll try to get my first album everywhere online as possible. Itunes, Amazon, spotify, bandcamp, etc. I’ll design a cover for it and all that stuff. I think it’s time to get my first album out there.
I used to never agree with selling my music but I’m gonna experiment with it to see how it goes. It’s an opportunity to make a little extra cash as well.

If you can’t design one yourself and know no one who can, I suggest using a freelancer site like Fiverr to hire someone…just FYI. That is what I did for my martial arts and poetry books.
Thanks, I’ll consider it but I’ll probably design the album cover myself. This will be an internet-only album so there won’t be no booklet. I’m a pretty decent graphic artist. I’m okay with photoshop stuff. There’s a professional photographer that I know in Greenwich that I’ll probably do a photoshoot with. I’ll probably just have an album cover with me holding an acoustic guitar, something simple like that. I have an idea in my head of what I want the cover to look like.
Kev
As for an album booklet with lyrics and stuff like that, I can figure out a way to get that done… I’ll probably just release that in a .pdf document for this site. That’s an idea.
