Learning how to sing better, can you do it? Of course you can!

Not only that I’m trying to improve my guitar playing skills, I’m also trying to improve my singing. Anyone can learn how to sing better even if you think you can’t. I prefer to be a self-taught singer ’cause I don’t wanna get anyone else’s style, ya know? Because if you work with another vocal coach, you could end up sounding like them instead of yourself.

To learn how to sing better, vocal exercises is key to get better. Do vocal exercises everyday and your voice will get better that way. To get vocal exercises there are all kinds of vocal instruction DVDs, books, apps, etc. I work with a couple of things: Metal Method’s “Vocal Power” and I also have “The Art of Screaming” app by Susan Carr. Both work great and they have improved my voice greatly.

I’m doing all I can to become a powerful singer and have more range.  When you want to become a better singer, you gotta have the head voice. Try to get all that sound out from your voice like a human amplifier. You want the inside of your mouth to feel that buzzing sensation, feel your head vibrate. When you get that, you got it. You gotta feel light-headed when you sing. Drink warm water or a hot cup of green tea… nothing cold.

Some of you would know that my vocals have improved over the years ’cause I’ve been doing a lot of practicing on that and still am practicing. Trying all I can to become a decent singer as well.

When I first started, I was shit admittedly. Used to get nervous and scared as hell at singing but not anymore, though. I listen back to my past songs and realized that I should really improve my singing. Have some more range and more power.

My goal is to hit the high notes and learn how to scream. I wanna learn how to hit the high notes and learn how to scream so I can make my songs more intense. I’m working on that too.

I sing ’cause I love doing it. I used to think that you shouldn’t worry about whether you have a good voice or not but I’m starting to disagree. I’m now trying to improve my singing the best I can and you can too.

The truth is, you can work with all these vocal instruction courses all you want to but another key to get better at singing is listening to your favorite singers. For example, some of my favorite singers are Robert Plant, David Bowie, James Hetfield, Geoff Tate of Queensryche and James Labrie of Dream Theater.

Anybody can become a great vocalist. I feel I’ve gotten way better on my singing but still have a lot to learn and have way more to go, though. I wanna sing in a rock band someday which is one reason why I’m trying to improve.
