If I want to play metal & hard rock guitar, I might have to buy a solid body electric guitar and I will…

If I want to play hard rock & metal on electric guitar, I might have to buy a solid body electric. I do have an electric guitar but it’s a full hollow body. The full hollow body maybe good for playing jazz, blues, regular rock n’ roll & lead guitar but metal, I don’t know. After a little research, I find that metal is not good on a full hollow body guitar. Well some guitarists had a different opinion ’cause there has been rock musicians who played hollow bodies in hard rock with such guitarists as Ted Nugent & Alex Lifeson. Who knows, maybe playing metal can work on a hollow body.

I’m still planning on buying a solid body electric sometime down the road though. When I do get one, I’ll get one with a whammy bar on it ’cause I wanna learn how to do whammy tricks with it. When I do get a solid body electric guitar, I’m thinking of going for a different brand other than Ibanez. When buying a new guitar, I usually stick with Ibanez ’cause I like the sound and the feeling but I think I’m gonna try a different sound. If I want to sound metal, I’ll probably go for a Washburn, maybe a Jackson or I’ll just go for a Fender strat. I really should get a solid body and will. If I were to get an electric guitar, I would get nothing too pricey… just somewhere around the $300 – $500 price range is all I need.

Actually, I may already have a solid body electric guitar but it’s an old one, I’ll have to see if it still works. It’s stored away in the attic, I’ll get it out later today.

  1. Well, I got out my old solid body electric and it still surprisingly works. Still sounds pretty good too even after years of not using it. It’s an old Hondo II guitar, kind of shaped like a Gibson Les Paul. It’s not a Gibson but kind of looks like one.

It was the guitar that I first started to learn on years ago, when I was 18 years old. To play rock & metal, I’ll stick with this guitar until I get something even better down the road. I just need to buy new strings for this Hondo II and I will soon.

    1. The Hondo II electric that I have is dark brown. Didn’t cost me that much… probably around $150 or a little over, can’t remember. Bought it off one of my guitar teachers I had in the past.
