I don’t care if this music scene hates me…

One thing that some people seem to enjoy doing is telling me that everyone hates me in this local music scene. That’s why some people can never treat me in a positive direction, no matter how much I try to explain myself. You know something? All the hate against me in this area, does NOT offend me at all. As a matter of fact, I enjoy it. If people can’t stand me, then I must be doing something right. I’ll quote by Charlie Sheen, “You’re either on Team Brock or you’re with the trolls”. All the hate is getting me to realize that the truth of things that I say in this blog is getting out to people and they are not liking it.

I’ll admit that I can be a dislike-able person sometimes. I’m just being myself. I like to speak the truth about things, no matter the consequences. If something happens, I’m going to be honest about it. There’s no way I’m going to hide my feelings about things.

Believe it or not, I do have my share of fans & supporters who supported me, all the way through. That’s loyalty and dedication. So thanks for the true fans out there. There are people who actually do find my blogs entertaining, no matter what I write in it. They don’t take it seriously and personally. There are also people who enjoy my music as well. You either love me or hate me, it’s all good.

I have my own life and my own music to worry about. I got better things to care about off this computer. I don’t care if some people in facebook are writing nasty shit about me, or some anonymous person in twitter creating fake accounts or people in youtube making videos about me. All that doing is giving me more attention.

Honestly though, all I want to do is play my music. That’s it and that’s all I care about.

Edit to add: Anyway, I’ve been called a negative troll and been wrongfully accused of being a hateful person for many years, ever since the old CRUMBS days in the 90’s. So people telling me this, is nothing new. I’m used to it by now. Keep the trash talking going. All your hateful comments against me is proving my point that this area is full of douchebags. I feel I’m doing a good job exposing a lot of you, not naming names but you know who you are.

Cover songs…

If I don’t have enough new original songs to play this summer, I plan to start learning cover songs again. Now I’m not going to play the same old cover songs you hear by cover bands at bar gigs. I’m only going to play the cover songs that I can play good. Find the right cover songs that I can sing good on. I enjoy playing cover songs. I’m going to be learning new cover songs this Spring/Summer. I think it’s a good idea to throw in a few cover songs along with my originals as a way to keep the audience listening.

I’ve been learning a new cover song today, “The Trip to Pirates Cove” by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Hear the song below. I plan to perform this cover at my June 4th gig at the Alcove Marina. I might play a few other cover songs that night too. Maybe play like 2 or 3 covers, then the rest originals. I’ll see how it goes.

The Music Scene

The attitudes of musicians and music fans in the local music scene haven’t changed. That’s the way people are. People are crazy. You get a lot of fake people that pretend they support you and later you’ll find out that they don’t. That’s okay, I’m not offended at any of this stuff at all as it does nothing but makes me a much stronger person. When I say I’m going to act like a tough guy, in the music scene, I meant what I said.

From this point forward, I’ll make a vow to avoid playing shows in Albany and Troy. That’s a promise. I’m only going to be playing my gigs in my hometown of Greenwich, Schuylerville, Saratoga Springs or Glens Falls. Cities that are closer to my hometown.

All I want to do is play my music and enjoy myself, be happy, that’s it. Of course, there will always be jealous people that will always try to make you look bad. I could explain what happened, but it’s a long story so I’d rather not get into detail.

It’s just that the music scene in the Albany/Troy area, they are very unprofessional people. Too many ego-maniacs around here too. I don’t disrespect the entire music scene, there are some talented bands & musicians that I admire and treat them with the utmost respect. I know a professional musician when I see one. To be a professional, you must act like it and play like a pro.

I think some certain people are mad ’cause they are jealous of either my fitness or music. It’s gotta be. They could be mad at my fit physique when certain other people are fat and flabby.

The drama and negativity never ends. I don’t have time for that anymore. Thanks for all the “true fans” out there who supported me, no matter what happens, that’s being loyal!

Shameless Plug: Gig at Savannah’s tomorrow…

Another shameless plug for the Brock, if you Albany folks have got nothing going on tomorrow night, please come out to this gig. Support local music, show up early to see all three musical acts.

See the facebook invite, here.

If you have a facebook account, feel free to let us know if you’re coming or not.

I’m probably going to be playing in front of 7 – 10 people or worse, a dead crowd but I’m still looking forward to it one way or the other. I’ll be video taping my performance for youtube.

A new official music website is coming soon…

Just created this website, a site to promote my music only…

Check it out here

That’s all there is on there for now, but I will put a lot more stuff on there. I want to use my music promotion separate from this entertainment blog. For that other website, I will buy a domain name for that too.

I plan to do a photoshoot with a professional photographer soon. I know a few professional photographers around my hometown of Greenwich, and I would probably work with one of them.

If anybody have any old live photos of me playing gigs from the past, I would love to put those on there too. I would also like to put my show history back on there too but don’t have it saved anywhere. If anybody has any of that stuff, e-mail me: rockystallone6@gmail.com.

Another thing about my comeback to music…

From this point on, I’m no longer going to be a negative person in the music scene. No more talking trash about other bands, musicians, promoters or venues in this site. If I want to become more successful and become more established at music, I can’t be that type of person anymore. I learned from my mistakes from the past and I won’t make them again, I’ll make a vow to that. Doing all this ranting & raving won’t help me get new fans or even new gigs, so I promise I will be a 100% professional this time around. I don’t want to turn off new fans and new promoters. I’ll do much better, trust me. I’m still NOT going to like certain things and certain people in the music scene, but all negative things I’ll keep for myself.

We’re going to have bad shows and good shows, all musicians do. All musicians have their share of drama and negativity as well, but I’m learning to be a man and deal with it like a professional.

That’s how most successful bands make their dream come true, ’cause they learned to not let drama and negativity get to them.

I will keep this site as positive as possible as well.

Kev

Edit to add: I will still write honest or negative thoughts on national music, movies, politics or the entertainment industry, but anything local I will stay positive.

Life & Music…

Some people mistakenly think that I am a fun & outgoing guy. That I like to go out and do things, have fun like so many people seem to do these days. Not really. My life off the computer is actually very boring. Why? Because pretty much the only thing I do is music. Whether I’m playing an instrument or listening to music, I’m good. That’s my life, right there, people.

I’ve been a music lover for years. Ever since I was a kid. It’s been my lifelong passion forever. When I was a kid, way before I started playing guitar, all I ever did was listen to albums. Most people would just buy an album and only listen to hit songs from the radio. Not me. That’s not how I listened to music. I’ve always listened to a full album, all the way through, from beginning to the end. I listened to music that way as a kid too and still listen to music that way. I don’t select certain songs that I like the best of an albums and listen to only stuff I liked. I listen to a whole album like a piece of art. As soon as I put an album on, it stays playing until it’s over.

I would listen to every detail of the album. Try to listen to everything going on. All the instruments and vocals, sound production, etc. Everything.

Of course, I do have other hobbies & interests, like movies, video games, and fitness. I just do those things to get away from music for a little  while ’cause you have to get away from it at some point.

This is how big music means to me. It’s all I pretty much want to do in life. Music has helped me in so many ways. That’s how powerful music can be to a human being. I love playing my own music and love listening to other talent.

I could get a better life outside of music and I’m trying, but then again, music is all I want to do. If negative things happen in my life or things don’t happen the way I was hoping for, that’s alright. Music is what keeps me a happy person. I play guitar every single day for a few hours and I’m always buying albums from other artists all the time. I take music very seriously.

Looking forward to Wednesdays gig at Savannah’s with Ralph Renna’s Capital Underground show. I’ll be videotaping my performance that night, so you won’t miss anything.

My new mission with my music…

Just like every musician and band, I want my music to be heard too. I too want to be recognized as a songwriter/musician like everyone else. I would like to be recognized as a music artist and not just an online blogger. In order for me to help get my music known more, I need to write better songs. Which is why I decided to change my songwriting style a bit. Stop writing songs about horror fiction and serial killers, so I decided to start writing songs about serious things. Songs that are about real things like politics, topical songs, protest songs, etc. Write lyrics that are realistic.

I’m trying the best I can to get noticed as a musician and I’m going to do all I can to make that happen in my next round of gigging.

So from this point on, I’m going to be mostly promoting my music in this blog. I’m not giving up posting entertainment news, I’m still doing that. I will use this main site to promote my stuff. People know me as a blogger and online person. It’s time that people should start hearing my tunes.

I’m pretty proud of the songs that I write. I’m going to keep writing new songs all Spring/Summer long so I can have enough songs for a new demo. I need to get a new studio demo out there.

More on my Bin Laden song…

Well, it seems that people actually enjoy “Say Goodbye, Osama” song, so far. Getting some responses already. People giving it thumbs up. The song was done in a rush. Very quick. It just came to me. The ending needs some changing around, the ending where I do all them, “oooohhhsss”.

I just heard that song in my head, and just had to get it out of me. It needs to be re-done a little bit. That was just a rough take in that youtube video. It’ll be better, trust me.

As you can hear in that song, it’s very “metal” inspired. So imagine what that tune would sound like in your head in a full band with full blown electric guitar and heavy distortion ’cause that’s how I heard the song in my head. Notice I’ve been writing more harder rock stuff? It’s because I have plans in forming my own band down the road. I’ll make it happen soon.
