Acoustic rock should get recognized more, enough of the folk music stuff…

We all know that the acoustic guitar is mostly known for playing country, folk, and blues music on it. The acoustic guitar was never well known for playing rock n’ roll on it but why not? Acoustic rock does exist in the mainstream music world. For starters, it was Led Zeppelin that started the whole acoustic rock thing. That’s pretty much where I got my acoustic rock sound from was by listening to too much Led Zep pretty much. There have been other acoustic rock artists in the industry like Neil Young for example. Dave Matthews is another one. Simon & Garfunkel definitely and also the Beatles. There’s also Creedence Clearwater Revival and Lou Reed who took acoustic rock to another level.

What I wanted to do was write rock songs on the acoustic just as you would on the electric guitar. That’s probably why a lot of my acoustic originals sounds so tight and energetic most of the time. I think that’s what my internet album is gonna sound like. It’s gonna be an acoustic rock album. Most of it will have hot guitar playing on it. It could be an album for every guitar player’s dream. It’ll probably have solos and shredding all over it.

I try to do the folk music thing and write mellow songs but I’m more used to writing rock stuff, though. I’ll try to write mellow stuff for the album and will. I’m just hoping to take acoustic guitar playing to the next level. It’ll be a rockin’ album, trust me. Ya know something, everyone wants to view the acoustic guitar as a country, bluegrass or a folk instrument but it can be a rock instrument too and I wanna prove that. You don’t always need an electric guitar and distortion to play rock n’ roll. You can play rock n’ roll on acoustic too. If you wanna see more evidence of that, you have to see me perform live to believe it.

I just wanted to be different than everyone else musically. Something unique. Something that nobody has ever seen or heard before. There’s not many acoustic guitarists out there that play acoustic like the way I do. Not trying to sound egotistical, just telling it like it is.

When you want to play music, last thing you wanna do is listen to critics & negative people…

When it comes to my music, I used to get so many haters and doubters. They’ve always debated on whether or not I have any talent. They’ve also always debated whether or not my “Online web presence” is more well-known than my music. They’ve also debated on whether or not I have a lot of music fans. You’re always gonna get so many negative people trashing your music and doubting your dreams. If you wanna have a successful music career and music life, last thing you wanna do is listen to your critics and haters, ya know? I’ve always been disrespected musically by other local musicians and local promoters for many years. Just because they say it, doesn’t make it true ’cause they’re just “entitled” to their own opinions. That’s it. Plus, they’re just negative and jealous people. Jealousy can be a huge part of it all, absolutely.

I’ve always been disrespected by a lot of people about my music in the music scene but I don’t care, ya know? I should have never listened to them. You shouldn’t either.

I would like my music to get recognized more and would like to get respected musically but I know you can’t force others opinions and you gotta let the music speak on it’s own which is what I’m doing.

When you want to play music, you can’t listen to anybody. Don’t listen to the negative feedback about your songs or your talent. Don’t listen to people doubting your dreams and goals. Don’t listen to any of that bullcrap. Just ignore the negative people and enjoy what you do musically. Just keep playing the music for the people who do appreciate what you do. That’s what it’s all about, ya know?

I’ve always believed I have quite a lot of music fans and it’s true. It’s just that the local press and other promoters haven’t seen what I do yet.

The thing is, you can’t listen to negative people and haters ’cause you’re always gonna get ’em. You just gotta believe in yourself and not care what anyone else thinks about you. Just keep doing what you do and not worry about other people.

Well, just wait until I complete that internet album and get that out there. Maybe that internet album I’m about to work on soon will help people realize that I can be something special musically. I believe people will soon see it. Give it time!

Maybe I really should seek out a bigger career in music, don’t know?

Really, I keep getting so many great compliments and awesome feedback on the music lately. It really does feel good and amazing. Remember now, in the past, I used to get so many harsh critics all over. Maybe I do have a lot of music fans after all? I would like to get recognized for it like get some interviews with the press and maybe get some reviews or shout outs from the local press and all that stuff but I don’t care. As long as people are enjoying what I do that’s all that matters to me pretty much.

Which is why I want to get that internet album in the works. I want to do that internet album for them, the fans and supporters. I wanna show them that I can do original music.

Should I seek a bigger career in music? Like hitting the bigger venues and stages? Maybe get signed to an independent label of some sort? I could if I wanted. Only trouble is, I don’t drive and a bigger music career requires a lot of travelling for sure. I definitely would like to gig a lot more, though. Hell yeah, I would. I’m sure people would like to see me move forward to bigger things in music. I’d like to as well but who knows what may happen?

Like I said I’m just trying to stay humble and enjoying what I do. Just playing the music and entertaining you is all I pretty much care about. All the support really does mean a lot to me, though. I’ll tell ya that. I have a mix of female fans and male fans when it comes to my music which is awesome.

Maybe after I finish the internet album and release it, I’ll play a few gigs in support of it so people can come out and see me. I’ll admit, I do miss performing live and wanna start doing that again.

I’ve been getting so much great feedback on my singing lately which feels amazing really…

Back then when I first started singing, I used to be shit really. I remember back in the day that so many people criticized my vocals and trashed my singing publicly like crazy. These days, I haven’t seen anybody say anything “negative” about my singing at all. Most of the feedback I’ve been getting on my singing lately has been very very positive which means a whole lot. A lot of practice would pay off for sure.

A lot of people make the mistake that you can never improve your singing, you get what you get but not really. Anybody can become a better singer. If I can do it, you can too. You just have to get the “head voice”. Get all of that sound out and singing “clear” most of the time. If you get the “head voice”… the buzzing sensation in your head and when you feel the vibration in your mouth that’s when you got it. That’s how you wanna sing.

In the past, I used to sing really bad ’cause back then I never had the “head voice” then I finally got Jim Gillette’s “Vocal Power” course and that helped me a lot.

The question you have to ask is since I improved my singing so much lately, will I ever further my music into a big career? I’d love to. I’d love to play more gigs and hit the bigger stages. Maybe even join a band but I don’t really care to beocme a big star. I’m just trying to stay humble and leave my ego at the door as much as possible. I just do music for fun and that’s the end of it. I don’t live under the delusion of becoming a big star. Just wanna play music ’cause it’s what I do.

Whenever I start my internet album hopefully this year, I plan to make my singing really good on it as much as possible. I want to give it my best. See if I can melt people’s faces with my singing on my original songs is my goal really. I’m flattered that people enjoy my covers but I wanna see if they can enjoy my original work too and I’m trying all I can to make that happen.

Never explain yourself to negative people…

That’s the problem we’re having in this day and age. In the age of social networking, you see men and women ranting about how people are bringing them down. They have to explain themselves to the person they are getting attacked and bullied by. They have to try and defend themselves, hoping this bully will stop picking on them and the bully will try to be more friendly with you. Never gonna happen. When negative people attack you… they want you to respond. They want you to see you ranting about it. They want to see you pissed off and angry. That’s why they do it is to piss you off and anger you on purpose ’cause they find it amusing and entertaining to them.

When you get negative people judging your life. Judging you by the way you live… you don’t need to explain yourself to them. When you do, all you’re doing is making situations much worse. The bully will continue to be an asshole to you no matter what you say or do knowing from my own experience. So a good way to handle negative people is by not responding to them at all and removing them your life. Pretend that they’re dead is what I do. Ignoring negative people completely is the best thing to do really. Ignoring negative people really does help make your life much more peaceful.

I try to give that advice to other people but they don’t listen to me. They continue to defend themselves against negative people getting all over them. In my facebook newsfeed, you see people ranting everyday about how people are getting all over them especially women mostly.

I’m sure you’ve noticed by now that I don’t respond to negative people at all. I just delete anything negative and just block them. WordPress doesn’t have a block feature so I just delete the comments and ignore it if something negative comes in. I only reply to positive responses, that’s what I look for. People can disagree with me on certain topics as much as they want to as long as the response is positive. I don’t mind people disagreeing with me on things. I just want people to be positive about it. In this day and age of social networking and the internet when people disagree with you on certain topics, they have to be mean and be a douchebag about it. Call you every name in the book, get into all kinds of drama. I know from experience.

When it comes to politics discussion though… liberals have to be so negative when they disagree. They’ll call you a bunch of names, swear up a storm and all that stuff. It’s part of why we’r getting fed up with liberals ’cause they’re really nasty to people. Almost all the time. Wow. They continue to be nasty to people to this day.

There’s so much negative people everywhere these days whether online or offline. You have to eliminate negative people from your life. I don’t have time for negative people. I want to surround myself with positive and joyful people. Don’t give negative people any attention ’cause when you do, all you’re doing is giving them more attention and they don’t deserve it.

Kev

When people start judging you and your life, it’s not you, it’s them…

There will always be those negative people who will say things about you and your life. When things like that happen, it’s not you, it’s really them. I don’t really care what anybody says about me. My life is a good one and I’m happy. I do have a lot going on even though some negative idiots don’t think so. You can’t listen to them. When people start talking about ya negatively then chances are they are mad at you about something. Chances are they are dealing with their own insecurities and stuff. They don’t have a good life of their own which is why they verbally beat other people up for it out of jealousy. Instead of wishing other people well and helping others, they have to verbally beat people up instead by calling them pathetic and calling them losers. You get the deal.

Just keep on keepin’ on. Keep living life the way you want to. If you aren’t getting haters and negative people then you are doing something wrong. Sure… there are some things about my life that aren’t perfect and I’m trying to improve my life to get better. Everything about your life isn’t perfect as well. There will always be people who will think they are bigger and better than you when they are not ’cause nobody is perfect. If people think they live their life better than yours, it’s just that some have a huge ego problem. You’re the bigger man if you don’t listen to negative people and keep living life the way you want to.

I will always get negative people talking shit about my life and spreading nasty rumors about me. I’ll never talk to people about the way I live my life and I like to keep to myself. It’s good to be that way. That’s why you shouldn’t talk about your personal life and put your business online or else other people will be talking about it.

I have plenty of kind people who support me, though and I’m grateful for that. Those are the ones who truly believe in me and there are many that are proud of who I am. Just don’t listen to negative people ’cause chances are, they have a lot of problems themselves in their own life and I wish nothing but the best of them. I’m always gonna get hateful people targeting me online and I’m doing my best to ignore them the best I can. Trolls and haters are nothing to me. If all you wanna do is attack me online then I will just pretend that you’re dead to me and that’s the end of it. 🙂

Internet album could definitely happen this year…

I’m pretty committed to this internet album that I’ve been planning for a long time. I didn’t make it happen yet ’cause I was waiting for the right time to do it. I think this year is the right time. Now I finally have a whole new home studio set up with new interface, studio monitors, new DAW, condenser mic, pop filter and all that stuff… I think I’m ready to start writing and recording. The sound is so clean and perfect on my new Focusrite Scarlett interface that it’s good enough to make an album with.

Now I can finally make clean guitar without any humming sounds. Now I can finally record clean & perfect vocals with no background hissing. Everything’s gonna sound perfect. Almost like a professional studio really which was the whole goal of what I wanted.

What kind of music will I have on the album? It’s gonna be a mix of acoustic rock and slow folky ballads, I think. I like doing both rock n’ roll and slow ballads so the album is gonna have a little bit of both. I’m gonna take my time with this album ’cause I want to try and make it really good. I want to make it a guitar album. Try to make it have hot guitar playing and the album will be full of vocal harmonies too.

As I’m recording the album, I’m gonna set up my JVC video camera and video tape the whole recording process so I can document it for the internet. That way you can see how I’m recording it. It’ll be like a documentary. I will be talking about the album on those videos like a self interview or something. It’ll be fun.

After I get the album completed, like I said, I’m gonna send it away to copyright ’cause it’s a great idea to get it copyrighted before you make it public. I’m also gonna do a photoshoot so I can design a cover for it and all.

When the album is ready for release, I’ll post cryptic videos on my Instagram exclusively so I can start teasing it. Keep it mysterious and try to get a buzz going. This album could take the unsigned music community by storm. I think a lot of you will be interested in it. It’s definitely gonna be a double album, I think. One side, a batch of brand new original songs and the other side will be a greatest hits kind of thing. I think it’s a great idea.

I promise I’ll make the internet album really soon. I was just waiting to get the right recording equipment for it. Now that I finally got it all… I can now get to work and start recording!

I wanna learn how to mix & master so I can produce my own music…

I want to learn how to mix and master on my own. You can do your own mixing and mastering on most DAW software these days. I wanna learn how to do it so I can produce my own music. I want to produce my own sound and vision of where I want my music to go. I’m not the best at producing but I want to get better at it and improve. I really want to learn how to do this. Produce my own music and make my songs sound really really good on my own.

Jimmy Page produced all of his own music mostly. The man was a genius in the studio and he knew what he was doing. He never went to school or anything to learn how to produce. He taught himself how to use the mixing console pretty much. I think he learned by watching others do it.

If I want to learn how to produce better… there are all kinds of instructional books on the internet on “mixing & mastering”. I’m about to look through all those and try to find a good book.

Best of all, I know someone who is really good with that stuff ’cause he went to college for “producing” music and got a degree in it so maybe I’ll pay him to teach me some basic stuff to start off with. Another option, there are tons of local studios around this area that offers courses on how to produce your own music but I’m sure their pricing rates would be sky high, though.

I wanna get better at audio recording. I know I just can’t record tracks and leave them right where they are. I know I got to improve the tracks and make them sound better.

I want to follow Jimmy Page’s footsteps and record and produce my own music like he did over the years. I’m gonna look into all of this sometime this year.

Will I ever buy an expensive guitar someday? Like a guitar that costs a thousand dollars or more???

Yes, someday I would indeed. I would buy a guitar whether acoustic or electric that would cost a thousand dollars or more. Same with amplifiers. Someday I will make my dream come true and buy really expensive gear.

I’ve always wanted to get a Gibson Les Paul and a half Marshall stack. Someday, if I get lucky enough… I will make my dream come true and get that kind of gear. I also wanna get myself a Fender strat. I will one day graduate to more professional instruments and gear.

For now, I just stick with affordable equipment.

I do love buying guitars and other music gear. I do when I can. I wanna start a pedal collection at some point this year too. The first pedal I’ll get is a fuzz pedal ’cause I really want one of those.

On top of that, I’m planning on getting a new guitar very soon. Hopefully even this weekend ’cause I’m planning on buying a guitar that’s arounds the $200 – $300 price range. Gonna make monthly payments on it. When I get the new guitar and when I find one, I’ll post photos and videos. I’m just gonna get a regular acoustic. Not acoustic/electric this time. Just a regular acoustic without those built-in electronics.

I got new recording equipment and will soon be getting a new acoustic. When I get that new acoustic, I’ll start writing and recording again. My new home studio setup is just about complete.

Happy New Years…

Happy New Years, y’all.

So if you’re expecting me to tone it down on the way I blog/facebook/twitter and all that stuff. No freakin’ way. If you hated me in 2015, you’ll continue to hate me in 2016. I’m not changing for anybody at all. Like the meme says, it’ll be no different in 2016. I’m just gonna continue to do what I do. Be realistic. Be honest. Tell the truth no matter the consequences. Yep, so I’ll be the same old Brock like always.

On top of that, I know I have a bunch of wonderful and loyal supporters & fans out there which really means a bunch to me. Really it does. That’s why I do my best to reply to all the fans & supporters who tries to keep in touch with me online. If they give me love, I’ll give them love in return. That’s how it goes.

There are only three kinds of people that I ignore online and they are: 1) Trolls & negative people 2) Obama defenders 3) people with liberal political views. Those are the only kind of people who don’t deserve any attention from me but other than that, I give back to my supporters & fans as much as possible. So thanks to all the fans & followers for their loyal support.

I’ll be the same old me and will be no different in the future.
