What did I watch on TV last night?

Last night, I watched the new “Walking Dead” episode, and after that, I watched the new “Vikings” show on the History Channel. I loved the “Vikings” premiere too. It’s a pretty cool show. Not a lot of you know this, but I have a huge interest in Vikings and Medieval stuff. Here’s a hint, why do you think I love “Game of Thrones”, so much? And why, do you think I play the game, “Skyrim”? I’ll be watching “Vikings” every Sunday now so you can add that show to the list of good TV shows that I watch this year. Is prime time TV getting much better or what? There are like 5 or 6 shows I watch this year, it’s crazy. Lets list them all… “Dexter”, “Breaking Bad”, “Sons of Anarchy”, “Walking Dead”, “House of Cards”, and now you can add “Vikings” to that growing list. TV used to be garbage but it’s slowly getting better.

I didn’t bother watching that History channel original movie, “The Bible”, ’cause I have no interest in religion.

Tonight, I’ll be watching “Old School RAW”, and after that I’ll be watching Jimmy Kimmel ’cause Sean Rowe will be performing on there. If you’re going to watch Jimmy Kimmel for the Sean Rowe performance, set your DVR’s tonight.

You see, I watch very little TV. I don’t watch TV during the day. I try not to anyway. I watch all the TV at night when the good shows that I like are on. When there’s nothing on TV at night, I’ll put something on Netflix or throw a DVD/Bluray movie on. When I don’t feel like watching anything at all, I’ll play video games on the PS3 at night.

During the day is when I’ll play guitar and work on music, or working out at the gym. I can’t wait for the warm weather to come back this Spring, so I can do my outside cardio. I miss doing that.

Vote kbrocking.com for Metroland…

You still have time to vote for my site, “kbrocking.com” for “Best Local Blog” category. I don’t see where you can vote for on the metroland.net site but I’m sure the Metroland papers themselves have the voting papers inside them. The voting closes March 8th, this Friday. There are two categories you can vote me for. Of course, you can vote “kbrocking.com” for “Best Local Blog” and you can also vote for “@kbrocking” for Best Twitter Feed.

I don’t want you voting me for any of the music categories ’cause I know I’ll never make ’em, but any of the internet categories would be golden.

My blog is different than all the other local blogs. I like to keep things real, honest, and I like to talk about every topic. Unlike other blogs, they focus on one topic. I like to talk about everything.

Figure it out, I don’t want anything to do with negative people, online or off…

This is why I’m strict at moderating comments online, everywhere I go. It’s my way of eliminating negativity from my life. I don’t deal with any of it. Pure and simple. I don’t feel any reason why people feel the need to be negative to others. Do people ever look at their writing and feel bad about it? I know I used to be a negative and angry person online, but I’ll admittedly regret it and felt bad about it, so I had to change. I’m a good guy ’cause that’s who I want to be. Life is too short to be in a bad mood and have a bad attitude, all the time, ya know? No matter, how positive I get, sure enough, people will keep writing negative things to you ’cause it amuses themselves for laughs. They keep trying to put you down ’cause they know they fail at it and they won’t give up until they win. You can’t let them win. Again, haters are gonna hate.

Being a negative person, doesn’t help you as a music artist and as a musician either. You can turn off a lot of fans who once supported you and you could lose respect from other musicians, knowing from my own experience. Yes, people are still going dislike me, but you gotta learn to ignore it all and deal with it.

Yes, I’m still gonna have negative opinions on movies, entertainment news, politics, etc. which is okay to do, but you can’t hide behind freedom of speech and I learned those mistakes as I went along, over the years. Even though, I changed myself for the better, people will always try to find ways to make yourself look bad. You can’t let them think it’s okay to do. All I care about is living a happy and positive life. My life off the computer is a good one. I vow to keep it that way.

I’ll start this “Movie Of the Day” topic first thing tomorrow, I didn’t feel like doing it tonight. I do have something special to pick for the first, “Movie of the Day” tomorrow, and you will like that choice too. Be on the look out for it. I watched, “The Walking Dead”, and the new “Vikings” show on the History Channel tonight.

Can romantic relationships over the internet work??? I would say absolutely!!!

I know romantic relationships and long distance dating over someone you met over the internet, can be a controversial and debatable topic, but can they really work? Can couples get married after finding each other online? A lot of people mistakenly want to believe they don’t work. They’re just a fantasy, but they CAN work and it can happen. Here’s how…

As long as you know what you’re doing and being careful doing it, a dating relationship online can be successful. Just watch out for the scammers (anonymous people posing under women trying to scam money from you), and anonymous spam bots promoting other dating sites. Make sure the person you’re talking with is real and actually know each other for a long while by not just talking on the internet with your partner but maybe talk via phone (if you can afford long distance that is) or maybe even Skype. If you can afford to meet each other in person a couple of times a year and if your partner actually shows up at the airport meeting you, then it can all work for sure.

I don’t see how it wouldn’t work, ya know? People online are real people and the internet is the real world if you think about it. I have talked to plenty of women online from other states and even from other countries. They can actually be pretty cool. I think it’s interesting interacting with people out of area. Internet dating shouldn’t be that bad as long as you know what you’re doing. Online dating should be no different than dating someone in your hometown.

I used to be against internet dating and long distance relationships, but now I don’t think it’s a problem. Internet dating seems to be the way to go these days. I’ve seen plenty of people get together because of facebook. I guess, that’s part of what facebook is used for.

Thinking about doing a “movie of the day” topic…

I’m thinking about doing a daily, “Movie of the Day” topic, where I’ll make a post talking about a film that I like. Not just one genre, all of them. It can be a movie of all time, not just new releases. Just talk about the story and what I like about it. Post a few photos of the film and maybe a few videos too. I think it’ll be fun and this should be able to show off my knowledge with films even more. You’ll be surprised of how many movies I’ve seen and know about. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen plenty of films that no one else has seen. I’ll start this Daily movie of the day topic tomorrow. I’ll pick something good. It’ll be something similar I did with the Greatest Horror Films of all Time back in Halloween, but a little different.

Would I be a good movie critic for the professional industry? I could but…

… I just like to review movies just for fun. It’s just a hobby of mine. However though, I’m beginning to think that I should take being a movie critic as a profession. I could make a pretty good living doing something like this. Could I become the next Aint It Cool or Roger Ebert? Where I get to see movies for free and get all kinds of DVDs/Blu Rays in the mail? That job would be awesome. I’m beginning to think that’s what I was made to do. So many people tell me, that I should get paid for doing this. I’m flattered but for now it’s just a hobby. I would like to make a living doing this but it takes a college degree I think. I could even get paid for blogging if I wanted, but if I did, I would have to load this site up with a bunch of advertisements. You wouldn’t want that would ya? I just do it for fun. It’s what I like to do, talk about movies.

It’s gonna be a long while for me to see a new movie in theater ’cause there is no movie theater in the Wilton Mall anymore. It closed down, but there is another movie theater moving in but it’s gonna be a long while. Sucks, ’cause I want to see, “The Last Exorcism II”. Looks good.

I just love movies. Talking about them, giving my opinion on them. Giving my thoughts and opinions on the upcoming movies being in the works. Things like that. I kinda would like to get a professional career doing that. I’ll figure something out. If I’m having trouble getting a job else where, I’m taking this into consideration.

Not only that I’m trying to improve my guitar playing, I’m also trying to improve the singing…

After listening back to my older songs, I came to a realization that I’m not liking the way my singing voice sounds. So I’m taking the time to improve that too. I’m realizing I don’t have the strongest singing voice. I want to be able to have a strong voice and hopefully sing a little higher. I don’t like the deep voice I have in my songs. My singing sounds like I’m talking, not actually singing. Kind of like a Bob Dylan or Tom Petty thing. Maybe that’s why so many compare my music to those two artists. I want to learn to be able to sing better. Learn to sing with more passion and sing with heart. I’ve been working with vocal exercises everyday. Working with a vocal exercise CD where you can practice reaching those high notes. I can actually sing pretty high, and I didn’t think I could either.

Maybe this is part of why I have a hard time people accepting my music maybe the singing is part of the problem and that’s getting worked on too. I’m really working hard on both, guitar playing and the singing. I sing because it’s fun and it’s enjoyable. I want to get better at it. I want to actually “sing”. Not be a talking, storyteller kind of singer if you know what I mean.

Becoming a good singer doesn’t happen over night either. Some people say it’s impossible to become a better singer, they mistakenly think what you hear is what you get. Not true at all. There are ways to improve your voice with a lot of vocal instruction. You can either be self taught or work with a vocal coach. I’d like to work with a professional vocal coach at some point, but I don’t know any around here, so I just teach myself for now.

When I start writing songs again, you might hear a little improvement than the last batch of songs. I hope so, anyway. I plan to start writing soon ’cause I want to test out my singing skills.

My complete focus is on lead guitar… I want to become a guitar great, not just a songwriting guitarist…

As some of you should know by now, my main focus on the guitar is lead guitar. It’s what I’ve been concentrating on more than rhythm and songwriting. I someday want to become a great lead guitarist. I want to be the type of guitarist that is able to improvise just about anything. Play everything I hear, and will be able to come in with a band without having anyone telling me what key the song is in. What’s the word, I’m looking for? I think virtuoso is it. I’ll admit it, I kind of want to get there, and want to be that kind of player. Instead of people looking at me as a singer/songwriter, I want people seeing me as this great guitarist. It’s not an ego thing, trust me, it’s just a goal and a dream that I’ve always had. I mean, hell man, it’s the whole reason I picked up the guitar, ’cause I wanted to become a guitar great like my heroes Jimmy Page, Hendrix, Satriani, and Neil Young. The list goes on. I know this dream doesn’t happen over night and I’ve been trying to figure out how to get there for the past 18 years. Yes, I’ve been playing guitar for that long. I’m just not rushing myself.

In lead guitar, I’m trying to take everything seriously. Do everything carefully and slowly. Take my time. I’m trying to practice my techniques, trying to get better vibratos, hammer ons/pull offs, etc. I’m also trying to learn as many scales as possible and I’ve just memorized a few of them already, all 5 patterns all along the neck. Focusing on ear training, improvisation and theory. All of it. The stuff that all musicians need to learn to get great.

I’ll get there somehow, it just takes patience. You guys can hear that I’m slowly improving and you can tell that I’m trying to get there every time I release a song. It’s hard work, but I’m never gonna give this up. I really am committed on trying to become a more professional and advanced player. It’s not about trying to get other people to respect me as a musician, it’s just that I want to move forward. Move to the next level. Always trying to learn new things and get better as you go along.

I love playing the guitar. While I love to do so many hobbies like watching movies, video games, reading books, the gym, etc. The guitar is #1 before everything else. It’s pretty much all I do, ya know?

If I ever make my first studio album with a full band, you can betcha it’s gonna be a full blown in your face guitar driven rock album, and that’s another reason I’m trying to get better. I want to be the type of guitarist that will melt people’s faces and trying to get there the best I possibly can.

Another Valentine’s Day post…

While I admit I maybe a little out of line with my thoughts about women being shallow, still though, you can’t deny that women have made it difficult on men when it comes to dating and relationships. I don’t know why it’s so hard to find the love of your life, when it shouldn’t be. If you’re interested in somebody, it shouldn’t be so hard to go up and tell her that you have a romantic interest in her. Of course, you don’t want to go up and say the three big words right away, you want to start off slow and build from there. Invite her for a small lunch or something like that. I wouldn’t really go for a movie as a first date with the woman ’cause you need to find a date where you can have time to talk to her and get to know her.

A lot of people don’t see it, but I do have what it takes to treat a woman like a queen and make her the happiest ever. Someday I will find the love of my life when the right one comes around. I will also stay 100% faithful. I can be confident around women, even though people want to mistakenly believe I’m shy around them.

Love shouldn’t be about how much money a person has and it can’t only be about the attraction. It’s about the person over all. Truly caring about the person, all the time.

Happy V-Tines Day. Enjoy it with your significant others if you have one. For the single people out there, fuck it. Just enjoy life and be you.

Vote “kbrocking.com” for Metroland’s Readers Poll!!!

Everybody knows that my blog gets more hits & views than any other local blog around the Capital Region. People just don’t want to admit that they are addicted to my blog and they keep coming here, whether people like me or not. I made the Metroland’s Readers Poll/Best of’s a few times back in 2006/7. I haven’t made any categories since then. Lets see if we can do it this year.

Whether you’re a fan of my blog or just a reader who just comes here for entertainment purposes, you should vote “kbrocking.com” for “Best Local Blog” category.

Take the Metroland’s Readers Poll, this is for local people, only, here.

My blog is different than other local blogs. Blogs like crumbs, Nippertown, and all the Times Union blogs just want to keep everything positive & family friendly. My goal has always been to keep everything honest and real. Not being afraid to say things that people didn’t have the balls to say. This is about reality and always has been.

While this is mainly a musician and singer/songwriter website for my music, I always viewed my blog as secondary.

Lets see if we can make it this year, folks!

Hope everyone in the Northeast is staying safe of the blizzard. The blizzard hasn’t hit here yet, but probably will later on today.
