The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #27: I Saw The Devil

I’ve been wanting to see this flick on Netflix for a long while and finally got around to it last night. It’s a Korean made crime thriller titled, “I Saw The Devil”. It’s a foreign film, so it would be in subtitles throughout the entire film. It tells a story about a secret agent, whose pregnant fiance was taken a victim by a vicious serial killer. The secret agent tries to hunt down the killer himself to seek out revenge. I must warn you before you decide to watch this film, it’s not for the faint of heart. The violence in this film can be graphic, brutal and disturbing. It’s not a typical slasher flick. You’re not going to see masked madman running after women everywhere she goes. This is a different kind of murder film. This film has a more realistic approach to serial murders. I was also pretty surprised on the Korean style of film making. They certainly do make films differently than the USA. Different style and originality. I have a very strong interest in the Asian culture. I find Asian people pretty interesting, and the film was well acted by them too. While some of the scenes will want to gross you out and look away from the screen, it can be a bit of an action movie too. The killer in this movie is a pretty scary as hell guy and the actor who played the killer did a phenomenal job. I have a feeling that there will be a US remake on the way since this film is getting so much praise in the US. Wouldn’t surprise me if a US version is coming. If they decide to do a US version, they better do it right! It’s on Netflix, check it out.
