Sonic Youth completed their tour, which their last show was in Brazil. Could it be their final gig for good? It definitely doesn’t look like Sonic Youth will be booking more shows ’cause Thurston Moore just booked himself a lengthy solo tour instead.

We should be expecting a major announcement from the band soon. Like Sonic Youth or not, they had quite a legacy with their career, and I think they deserve a Hall of Fame induction down the road.

Some of you may ask, why can’t they continue on without either Kim or Thurston? I explained before, without either of them in the band, it’s no longer Sonic Youth because they are Sonic Youth. If either Kim or Thurston quits, the band is done. These two were the leaders of Sonic Youth. Just my 2cents.

This is not a gossip blog, I hate celebrity gossip, but the reason this news is a big deal is because this might affect the band’s tour and their future. Sonic Youth is a legendary alternative rock band in which Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore both formed together. They formed the band in 1981 and were signed to a major label in 1990. They were one of the most successful rock bands in the 90’s. Sonic Youth is famous for hits: “Kool Thing”, “Teenage Riot”, “100%”, “Schizophrenia”, “Bull In the Heather”, “I Dream, I Dream”, “Tom Violence”, and more.

Sonic Youth has toured with Nirvana in ’91.

Now what the music world is wondering is what the band’s future is going to be? Sonic Youth is still on a pretty lengthy tour with more dates up ahead.

Will Kim and Thurston still tour together? Will one of them quit and get a replacement? Will the band split up and cancel the tour? I’m sure the band is discussing their future right now and they’ll announce something soon.

I was never a big Sonic Youth fan, but I liked their hits. I just never bought their albums. I do respect their legacy. They were a pretty influential band in the 90’s, like them or not.

What do I think will happen with the band? I think they should split. Why? Because Kim and Thurston have always been important members, they are Sonic Youth. Always have been. There can’t be a Sonic Youth without either of them. I have a bad feeling that the band will be done.
