So I started writing new songs again, here is the first one I’ll release to the public, my first public song in 2008. I uploaded the song first exclusively to youtube. I’ll post the lyrics below too. There’ll be more new songs coming along the way. Enjoy.

“Take A Little Trip With Me”
by Kev Brock
You work so hard, you’re getting so tired
You can’t seem to, get a rest
You work so hard, you want to leave to a special place to spend some time alone
You tried so hard, to get away
but everything holds you back
You tried so hard, to leave this place but everybody wants you to stay right home
Take a flight, take a plane
Find a new life, to refresh your brain
Take a flight to have some fun
Find a new life to get away
CHORUS:
Take a little trip, take a little trip
Take a little trip with me
Take a little trip, take a little trip
Don’t want to go alone, come with me
You live so hard, for your life
All you want is to feel real good
You live so hard, to live forever
It’s a special place to be with your love
You look so hard, for a better world
but everything holds you down
You look so hard, so you can be ready for a nice vacation so you can relax
Take a flight, take a plane
Find a new life to refresh your brain
Take a flight to have some fun
Find a new life to get away
(repeat chorus a couple of times)
Nice song. Did Ulysses Ronquillo get a writing credit? lol JK
It’s an inside joke from my Al Roker comment.
Kev, this is a catchy little ditty. I have a question about the lyrics. Is the song in the “1st Person” where the protagonist needs to get out of town? Needs his/her freedom by kicking off the shackles of the constipated existence of their smalltown? This is a theme “the Boss” Bruce Springsteen has visited many times in songs.
OR is this a kind of populist song where you’re speaking to “YOUR” generation? Telling them to “break free” of the constraints of their bleak future. This would be in the populist Pete Townshend speaking to his generation visited in “Teenage Wasteland” and others.
?
Tony Alva wrote – “This is a theme “the Boss” Bruce Springsteen has visited many times in songs.”
Maybe I just happened to be a huge Springsteen fan, this song is partially inspired by him as a matter of fact and Pete Townshend as well. The song is meant to be in the style of 80’s rock with the likes of the Talking Heads, Elvis Costello and such, you get the deal.
The song is basically about someone wanting to go on a big trip to start over with a new life and he wants someone to go with him. He doesn’t want to go alone.
Kev
chorus is from lowrider?
“chorus is from lowrider?”
The “Low Rider” chorus by the band War is:
“Take a little trip, take a little trip
Take a little trip and see
Take a little trip, take a little trip
Take a little trip with me”
Mine is totally different from them. There are thousands of songs out there under the same title so it’s nothing against copyright infrigement.
I don’t think you’ll have to worry about the band War threatening me with a lawsuit. I’m perfectly safe legally.
