I want to be respected for my music, not just for my internet personality…

In the Capital District, I know I am mostly known for my blogging and my internet personality, I really haven’t quite gotten my music out there yet. My goal has always been known to trying to get noticed as a musician in the Capital District area too. I know I have loyal fans that come to see my shows and I know some people out there even other local musicians say that I’m one of the best solo performers in the area.

I think the main problem on why I haven’t gotten noticed as a musician and singer/songwriter yet, is that I haven’t released an actual studio album on CD yet. You know, an actual album with CD cover art and a booklet, all that stuff. All the solo musicians and bands have made a CD, but the rest of you wonder why I haven’t put one out yet.

I’m actually thinking about making that happen. I’m thinking about wanting it to happen. But if it does happen, it probably won’t be a Kev Brock solo CD. It’ll probably be a full band electric guitar CD, songs that is full of hard rock n’ roll with kick ass riffin and jamming all the way through, a CD I’ve always wanted to make. I’ll probably have a band name too, and you guess it, I want to get my own rock n’ roll band going sometime down the road.

If I put out a CD, then I’ll have a better chance in getting that CD reviewed in local papers and it’ll help me become established more music wise. I’ll probably just form a three piece band, so I can do all the guitar work, lead and rhythym, all of it. Then play some full band shows in support of it.

I’m kind of gettin’ tired of the acoustic solo thing and want to try the full band thing to see how that goes. In 2009 after Christmas is over with, I plan to start searching for musicians to record with. I want to become part of the full band scene in the area and want to make it happen this time around.

  1. Rocking out with a full band! You need a hot babe singer like the tramp in Ten Year Vamp. Or maybe she wouldn’t have to be so hot, as long as she wore comfortable shoes, drove a Subaru, and went camping on the weekends you could pull in a crowd, sure thing. Those bean flickers always follow their own, if you know what I mean. It would be a good career move, no one really cares about acoustic music these days.

  2. Actually, when I form my own band, I will be the lead singer of course. When ever I start searching for musicians for the band, I don’t care if the bass player or drummer is going to be either male or female and I don’t care what they look like as long they have the talent that I look for. This band will be strictly about the music. I just want to have fun writing kick ass and tight rock n’ roll songs being backed up by a band. The musicians don’t have to be technical or anything special but as long as they can give what my songs need, that’s all I care about and that’s what I look for.

  3. And also, I totally disagree with you when you said no one cares about acoustic music. Of course, Capital District local cares about acoustic music. Other acoustic solo musicians. People still go see acoustic live performances. There are plenty of acoustic solo performers here. Sean Rowe is an acoustic solo guy who plays shows by himself mostly and he is still packing up crowds, so people obviously still like acoustic music. If people didn’t care about acoustic music, then the Caffe Lena wouldn’t be around.
