Thought: Big egos in the music industry?

Yahoo music wrote an article on the biggest egos in the music industry like Kanye West, Bono, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Noel and Liam Gallagher, Madonna, etc.

That list is missing plenty of more big egos in the music industry: Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of the Rollingstones, Billy Corgan, Prince, Britney Spears, Scott Weiland, Kid Rock, the Jonas Brothers, Clay Aiken, etc. The list goes on. You can also add Elvis Presley and Jimi Hendrix to the big egos list.

Check out the article here:

You want to know the sad truth of the music industry both national and unsigned music? Hate to burst your bubble but all musicians pretty much have a little “ego” in them. If you really think that musicians whether you’re famous or not don’t have egos, you should get a reality check.

Of course all musicians have egos. 🙂 Why the hell do you think they all get popularity so fast? Heh? Think about it. I’ll also admit that I myself have a bit of an ego sometimes and I’m also talking about the Capital District of local music too. We all have egos. Yep, we all have ’em. You know it, I know it. 😉

While I agree it is weird that people think they are better than others, but when you get popular at doing something like music, being an actor or a writer, and become successful at it, that’s when your ego ticks in. You can’t help yourself and can’t stop the ego in you, it’s almost like a drug. If you think certain musicians don’t have egos, then you’re so wrong.

  1. Anyone who gets on a stage and says “hey look at me, I deserve to be given more attention than any of the schmucks out there pounding beer and trying to cop a cheap feel” has something of an ego problem. And I include myself in that statement.

  3. I agree Steve, there are plenty of reasons to think why local and unsigned musicians have egos.

    Things like:

    1) Those who think who can play their instrument and sing better than others…
    2) Those bands that has a huge fan base, thinking they are all high and mighty…
    3) Those who think getting a write up in the Metroland or any newspaper, thinking that it’s the best thing that’s happened in their lives…
    4) Those bands who think they have complete control of the music scene and think local music revolves around them…
    5) Those bands who think they can headline every damn show they play, never willing to be an opener…

Feel free to continue down the list. I’ll name more if I can think of any.

  5. Yep, plenty more to name: Ozzy, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, Metallica, Dave Mustaine, Avril Lavigne, Brian Johnson of Ac/Dc, etc. You’ll have to admit that your favorite musical acts has egos as well.

Robert Plant have been acting like a big egomaniac these days, he thinks his project with Allison is bigger than a Zeppelin tour.
