I have never even heard of this Susan Boyle until the internet started talking about it. So I checked out her performance on “Britain’s Got Talent” in youtube, just out of curiousity to see what’s so special about her, I’m sorry, she is nothing special. Nothing original and nothing mind blowing about Susan Boyle. I wasn’t that impressed. There are so many opera singers that can sing like that, and there are so many opera singers that can sing much better than her. If I was the judge of Britain’s Got Talent, I would have slapped my hand down on the red buzzer. She’s not good. Sorry.

It’s not opera, it’s from the musical “Les Misérables.” I’m surprised that you don’t like her. She’s from a small town, she’s never had a boyfriend, people laughed at her, and despite all odds she gobsmacked the haters. She should be an inspiration.

I agree. Susan Boyle, all background info aside, is nothing “special”. Although it cannot be denied the woman does have talent, as is the name of the show. Britain’s Got Talent is like American Idol, it takes people with talent, and presumably makes them better. I think she has potential, if she worked on it, to be fantastic.
What you will notice, however, is Simon Cowell’s reaction and how telling that is of him. You’ll notice in the video, if you watch it again, that he only picks up after the audience starts cheering. Although Cowell isn’t exactly one to follow “the herd” the fact is, his contract with Idol is winding down, and he needs as much publicity for himself as possible. He knows this could not have come at a better time. Notice how the judges react after the crowd reacts, that tells you what they believe.

Mike Reznor has totally missed the point: SHE CANT SING VERY WELL. Who cares if she is a spinster virgin, that will not improve her singing voice.
