The truth about the local music scene…

I may have hinted a musical comeback to go back to play local gigs around the area like I have done in the past, but I am beggining to think that it is pointless and will stick to the idea of releasing music online only, and not playing live.

Why? Because if I go back out there, things will be no different. I’ll just be playing in front of several people or to just to the venue owner alone. Plus, I am noticing that there are no venues for acoustic acts to play out there anymore. I don’t want to be playing the bars, ’cause I hate the bar scene and want to stay away from them. I want to be playing in small quiet places like cafes, coffeehouses, and bookstores but there are none of that here anymore. I am also noticing the bad attitudes and ego problems of bands, promoters, and club owners haven’t changed.

So really, what’s the point of a comeback? There is none. The truth of no longer playing out is because there is no local music scene. Yes, there are so many bands/artists and promoters around this area calling this area a music scene. How can it be a music scene when there is nothing here?

There is also not much good music to support anymore ’cause bands and artists come and go around here. Only bands/artists worth paying attention to now are Lunic, Railbird, Sean Rowe, Katie Haverly and maybe a few others.

If there was a way to get me to perform live again, I will still go play open mics here and there. I also won’t ignore good opportunities like to open for established bands, playing festivals, etc. There’s just no point in playing actual gigs on a regular basis.

As far as what’s going on with my music, I’ve been trying to come up with some stuff. Hopefully I’ll get ’em out soon when I’m ready. The internet is a good way to release music and I prefer to keep it that way.
