Summer fitness goals…

Summer is the time when you need to set goals of what you want to achieve for the next three months.

Here are mine:

  • Find out how much percentage bodyfat I have: This is something I haven’t learned yet and will soon. Next time I go to the gym which will be tomorrow, I’ll ask the trainer/owner of the place to teach me how. It’s probably pretty simple. Anybody out there is welcome to teach me how in this blog. I shouldn’t be that bad.
  • Need to tan more and get darker skin: A reader here is right that I could be a little darker to show more muscle definition. I would tan the natural way by laying under the sun and would avoid those electronic tanning bed things at the tanning salons. The tanning beds are dangerous and could kill you I’ve read. You can get a good natural tan just by laying under the sun. I’ll be doing some reading about this as well.
  • Try to improve the chest pecs all around, upper and lower: I’ll be doing more benching and more dumbell decline flies. Incline dumbell presses and dips helps too. Also, push ups is a very important pecs exercise. I’m always doing pushups at home all the time.
  • Avoid cardio machines in the gym, do more outside cardio: In my opinion, the gym is possibly the worst places to do cardio in. Too noisy, and people bothering ya when they want to talk to you about fun things. It’s better doing cardio outside with the fresh air, the sun and more peaceful concentration for yourself. For outside cardio, I like bike riding and light jogging. Hopefully I’ll do more swimming too.

I can think of more but these are the top 5.

  1. I think it’s good that you’re thinking about martial arts. In addition to weights and such- martial arts will add a new training element to your workout. FUNCTIONAL TRAINING!. FUNCTIONAL TRAINING involves stuff that’s FUNCTIONAL to the endeavor at hand, stuff like hitting a big tire with a sledgehammer, pushing a wheelbarrow full of rocks up a hill , pulling a rope attached to an SUV across a parking lot with your teeth, etc….. I also think the tanning is a good idea. I know you want to beef up your chest, but more importantly make it defined. You have a very defined back. I’ve talked to some patrons of the Ramrod and they gush over your muscularly defined back. Many would like to see more of it up close.

    1. Yep, make my chest more defined and make it a lot more visible. Thanks for the feedback. I truly believe that you can look like the big muscle guys you see in the magazines, the sports, and in the movies. You just gotta read and learn.

As for tanning, you can’t just take random sunblock and lay in the sun. You gotta know your skin type, certain sunblock that’s right for your skin. Knowing the certain amount of time to lay in the sun so you don’t ruin your skin. Things like that. I’m doing research on tanning too. I wanna do it the right way.

  2. Why go in the sun? That’s bad for you. So are tanning beds. All my friends at Ramrods and on Fire Island use bottle tan stuff. Much healthier.

    1. As far as my “well defined back” goes, I didn’t think my back was all that jacked ’cause I never really looked at it until I saw myself on video. I was kind of surprised myself. Doing those pull ups is a great exercise and it pays. The same with lat pull downs. I wouldn’t have showed off my back publicly if I saw it didn’t have any results and it came out fantastic.
