Neil Young have always been one of my favorite musicians. He is mostly looked at as a singer/songwriter, but the man is also an excellent guitar player. He doesn’t get looked at for his great guitar playing much, and that’s what I mostly like about him. He’s a great rhythm guitarist and a great lead guitarist as well. He’s not afraid to do different genres whether it will be acoustic folk, light sounds, or heavy rock music. The man can do it all. Neil had a long career and he’s still releasing albums, and touring to this day.
I love a lot of Neil Young song. I pretty much love all of his work. Here are 5 of my absolute favorite songs of his of all times…
(Great guitar riffs, awesome vocal lines, there’s nothing bad about the song at all. If you think this song is crap, then you have no right to be a music lover. Everyone should love this song. It’s one of his best radio singles.)
2. “Crime In the City”
(I can listen to this song so many times and would never get tired of it. Love it too fuckin’ much. The acoustic rhythm playing is just killer, I also love the lyrics and vocals. It maybe a long tune, but I can see why, he had a story to tell in this song.)
3. “Fuckin’ Up”
(It’s a Crazy Horse song. Just a badass tune all around. It has some of his best guitar playing.)
4. “Mr. Soul”
(One of his best songs ever written. Everything about it is so great. Love both electric and acoustic versions.)
5. “Down By the River”
(Another one of those songs I can listen to a 100 times a day and never get bored. He wrote this song so he can solo and improvise for a long while. It’s a song he wrote so he can play live and jam on it for fun. That’s why there isn’t much lyrics in this track. I get goosebumps every time I listen to this track!)
I love too many Neil Young songs, but those 5 above really get to me.
