Cool Video: Another Led Zeppelin teaser hits, but this time in youtube…

While Led Zeppelin is continuing their mysterious countdown in facebook, they just started something in youtube. Posting a video of their four symbols and a crowd cheering in the background. That’s by far, the best teaser I’ve ever seen. Most everyone thinks it’s the 02 2007 reunion show getting released, but I really think it’s going to be something totally different and surprising. If it does happen to be something different, that would be pretty funny, after everyone thinking it’s the 02 show. I don’t think Led Zeppelin would tease the 02 show ’cause even they know that everyone would think that’s too predictable. You think they’re stupid?

Looking at the teaser in the video, and since they put John Bonham’s symbol in it, whatever they are planning to release might have something to do with John. Maybe they’re releasing something else, not the 02 but a different concert like Knebworth or something. I don’t know.

Anything is possible with Led Zep. I’m still rooting for that possible unreleased studio album, Dave was talking about. If that’s not it, then I’m cool with anything Led Zep comes up with ’cause I’m a die hard fanatic. Can’t wait for Thursday. I’ll admit that I’m kind of going insane with these teasers myself like everyone else. Led Zep teasing things is nothing new, they like to keep everything mysterious. They also did similar teasers with the “How the West Was Won” and the “Led Zeppelin – DVD” they released back in 2003. They like to keep all of their releases and announcements top secret ’cause they know it would be a media frenzy.

Kev

Edit to add: This nameless commenter from the Led Zeppelin facebook page is right on the money. See? I’m not alone that a countdown over a DVD release would be pretty silly, there are some others that think the same way I do, I’ll post the comment here without posting the persons name, the comment here, BINGO: “If all this hype is just for a DVD the good old Led Zep will make a lot of people unhappy. Not that we wouldn’t love a proper DVD from Japan 71, or from the reunion… But to have a massive countdown and mysterious clips and build this huge buzz… and then just put a DVD out? It would not be proportionate to the expectations they create. I expect a BIGGER surprise. New music or a concert.”

  1. What does predictability have to do with it? They know everyone wants the O2 show, and the teaser is building the anticipation.

And as far as teasers go, isn’t there some other copmpany out there…the most valuable company in the world teasing something? Also using a “5” in there teaser?

Geeeeee, I wonnder what that could be? No way they woukld tease something obvious like an iphone 5. Goitta be something big.

Fact of the matter is, MILLIONS want to see the O2 show released. Guiness world records has it listed as the world record for ticket requests for a single concert-20 MILLION requests! Only 16,000 tickets were availble. That’s 19.9 million people that didn’t geto, but WANT to see it.

It would be a monumental release. Led Zeppelin was dead on that night. Look at the other reunions and one-offs they did-Live Aid, etc…they’re performances were crap.

  2. And honestly, given the choice between O2 and a new album, I’d rather have O2. The guys are getting on in years, and I question their ability to put something out as good as what they were doing in their heyday. And i highly doubt they would be p to the task of a full blown tour. Led Zeppelin ws always better known for their live performances anyway, so why settle for mediocre when you can have one of their best performances ever?

  3. That teaser makes it totally obvious that it is everything to do with a live performance.

    It’s gottabe the O2 show.

Or…maybe Jimmy Page is going to join Robert Plant’s tour. Not as Page/Plant to together, but each of their bands, on tour together.

But still, my money is on O2. And we’ll see soon enough.

by the way, I’m really enjoying discussing this with you. Your enthusiam over this is awesome.

  4. And I think you are all reading wayyyyy too much into this and making it bigger than it really is

It’s just a facebbok post. Facebook.

    Face.

    Book.

If it was really something big, there would be real hype. Real media coverage. Actual press releases indicating something big. Teaser’s on websites, etc….

But it’s not. It’s just a silly publicity stunt on facebook.

And now a couple youtube posts

Facebook and youtube. To me that’s totally the appropriate places to tease a dvd release. Or just another crappy money grabbing compilation set with two previously unreleased tracks.

If it was something big like a tour or a new album there would be a lot more hype going into it.

But it’s not. It’s just freaking facebook. Anyone that gets that excited over a FB post deserves to be disappointed.

    1. You don’t get what a tease is supposed to be like. Led Zeppelin has done stuff like this many times in the past before, even way before they even discovered facebook, they found different ways to tease their fans on upcoming releases. Like I said before, they’ve done similar teasers with the “Mothership” release back in 2007, and they did a big tease before the 02 reunion was confirmed. The tease they are currently doing now, was the first time they ever did a tease in facebook, a social media site. They figure facebook would be a good way to tease something big to help get a buzz going.

A tease is supposed to be confusing to people. Get everyone debating, and arguing. Keep people guessing on what it is, that’s the whole point of it. They reveal little bits, piece by piece, giving clues on what their upcoming announcement could be, like their tiny youtube teasers for example. Most everyone thinks it could be the 02 release, but when Thursday comes, the announcement could be something totally different. That’s the point of this surprise being mysterious. They don’t like to announce projects early, so they tease people, letting them know that they are about to release something new.

You never know what the announcement could be, dude. Those little live youtube teasers could be teasing a tour instead of a DVD release, or could be both. Never know. We’ll have to wait until Thursday.

If it is strictly the 02 release alone, I’m all cool with that too. I’ll be excited for anything Led Zeppelin does. I’ll buy the BluRay version of the 02 concert and I’ll get the audio CD too so I can have it on my Ipod.

I wonder what tomorrow’s “I” font is going to look like ’cause there is no Roman numeral on the first album, gonna be interesting to see what Jimmy will come up with.

  5. I fully get what a “tease” is.

What you’re not getting is the level of “tease”.

Tease doesn’t always have to be something big and epic. It can something small.

And for something on the level of a DVD release, what they are doing is totally appropriate for that level.

FB and youtube is not the right platform for something epic, and anything teased on those platforms should not be read as something of epic proportions. Know what I mean?

But still, for millions of fans out there, O2 IS still something epic. If this WAS a new album, new tour or restart of the band, then they should be doing a lot more- a WHOLE LOT MORE- to build hype and anticipation than some half-assed, limp-dicked facebook postings.

    1. Well, in this day and age of the internet, social media seems to be the only way to announce big news, these days. Why? Because that’s where everyone looks at the most. Facebook, youtube or twitter. People don’t look at band official sites anymore, which is part of the reason why bands don’t update their official sites much. Most everyone look for exclusive news by famous bands through facebook mostly. Other bands have revealed big epic news in facebook/youtube lots of times. The Who just did it with their Quadrophenia tour. Go figure.

      Kev

  6. And a tease is supposed to be directly related to what they are doing. The clues must match the end result. And so far the clues point only to one thing-O2.

If they were to give clues to one thing, and then announce something totally different, then they did it wrong.

  7. The Who announcing a tour= Epic? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahaaaaaaaa

    Cmon…The Who?

That’s as about as epic as McDonald’s announcing a new burger.

    1. To you a Who “Quadrophenia” tour may not be epic but to their longtime fans, it is. I think it’s pretty epic, coming from a major Who fan like myself.

      Kev

    1. Well at the top of my head: “Tommy”, “Who’s Next”, and “Quadrophenia” are obviously their best albums. They are rock n’ roll gods too, right behind Led Zep. Can’t wait for Pete’s book to come out.

      Kev

  8. What do you know about me and how I feel about The Who?

They’re one of my favorite bands and I have all their albums and afew bootlegs as well.

But they are just a shell of what they used to be. Theyve released ONE album in the last thirty years. But they have embarked on tour after tour after tour in that time, including Quadrophenia tour, so it’s really not that big of a deal.. And I consider myself fortunate to have seen them live on a few occasions.

    1. To you it’s not a big deal but to me it is. I think seeing Quadrophenia live in concert, would be mind blowing and phenomenal experience. I would pay my money to see them in NYC if I wanted to, that would be worth the trip and the cash.

  9. No LZ post today?

Led Zeppelin: 02 concert film, ‘Celebration Day’. In theaters next month.

And DVD and cd set to be released in time for holiday shopping

    1. Yeah, I saw that stuff. That is probably what the announcement is gonna be, the 02 “Celebration Day” getting a limited theater run.

Plus, Led Zeppelin is being honored at the Kennedy Center in D.C., which I’m sure the guys will attend.

Maybe these things will be the announcement tomorrow. Who knows though, they might have something different to tell us tomorrow.

I haven’t posted all day today, ’cause didn’t feel like posting. I like to get away from the blog every now and then. I spend most of my day playing guitar. I’ll get to posting this afternoon.
