I would like to see Sly’s new movie, “Bullet To the Head”, but the mall that is closer to me is not playing it at their theater. “Bullet to the Head” is only playing at selected theaters , so I won’t be able to see it. I’ll wait for DVD rental, ’cause the film is not getting good reviews, anyway.
Sly has had other good action movies that has nothing to do with “Rambo” and “The Expendables”.
Here are 5 of Sly’s best action films:
- “Cliffhanger” – This is probably the best one. It’s a fun action flick and actually had a decent story too! Plus, John Lithgow made a badass villain in it.
- “Cobra” – This could have been Sly’s other big franchise if this movie had a better script. Cobra was a cool character. It’s too bad this film didn’t have more sequels when it should.
- “Tango and Cash” – Teaming Kurt and Sly together was probably the best thing to happen in the action genre. I just wish they would re-team these two again, whether for “Tango and Cash 2”, or an Expendables movie.
- “Get Carter” – It didn’t do very well in the box office and didn’t get great reviews, the film could have a better script, but Jack Carter was one of Sly’s best characters. The fight scene between him and Mickey Rourke was the best part of the film.
- “Over the Top” – Another one of his underrated films that didn’t do well, but still a kick ass film. Old school action 80’s.
Don’t just look at Sly because of his success with “Rambo” and “The Expendables”. If you watch all of his action movies from the past, you would understand why he’s such an action movie legend today. He didn’t get to where he is for nothing. His legacy really means something.

you ever see Lords Of Flatbush? its a wayyyy old flick. one of Stallones’s first roles. may just be his first.
Yep, I’ve seen most of Sly’s entire filmography pretty much. I have all of his movies on DVD. Even all the stuff from the 70’s. “Lords of Flatbush”, “Paradise Alley”, etc. I think Sly was a better actor back when he was younger. I’ll admit that Sly is not that great of an actor right now, but I wish he would step it up and show the acting talent that I know he has. Sometimes he does kill it with his acting. Other than the first Rocky film, I also think, “Cop Land” had his best acting.

“Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot”. That was awesome. (Yup, I’m kidding).
I won’t deny that Sly has made some bad movies. His work currently is still not the greatest. “Rocky Balboa” (or Rocky 6) was okay, the latest “Rambo” was okay, the two “Expendables” movies were good but not the best. Yep, I love Sly’s classic movies more. All of his movies from the 70’s and early 80’s were really great. He had acting talent back then, but I’ll admit that he’s not the best actor, right now. He’s kind of lost it.
