New Song: “Leave This Place”

Got the song uploaded. Sound quality doesn’t sound too bad actually! Enjoy this, hopefully! Just a warning… this song is kind of country and folkie a little bit. I’m real proud of it, though. It’s a definite keeper! The lyrics are done in free verse poetry form as I said.

Enjoy it, here.

Here are the lyrics:

“Leave This Place”

Take a drive through this town.
See what’s cool around here.
There’s nothing to do.
Oh no, there isn’t.

Take a walk through the street.
See if there’s anything fun.
There’s nothing around here,
So you just leave.

CHORUS:
What is wrong with this town?
It isn’t what it used to be.
What is wrong with this town?
All you want is to enjoy yourself.
Leave this place (3x’s)

Take a walk, through the mall.
Browse around, through the stores.
There’s nothing to buy.
Oh no, there isn’t.

Take a walk down the hall.
Find something else to shop for
and there is nothing.
So you just leave.

Repeat Chorus

Leave This Place (3x’s, after instrumental break)

  1. Pretty good tune man! How’d you get the guitar to sound like that…it’s sort of synthy. Sounds almost like a keyboard in the lower register, I like it.

Gonna be honest though…the hissing was hard to ignore, especially because it started and stopped with your vocals. It would even be better if there was hiss the entire song, just so you wouldn’t notice it starting and stopping constantly.

    1. Like I said before, there’s nothing I can do about the hissing. It’s coming from the new preamp that I did the vocals over. Maybe if I re-did the vocals without the preamp, maybe that will help reduce the hissing some but I doubt it, though. There’s gonna be hissing no matter what happens ’cause of this room. I’ll re-record the vocals over again one more time to see what I can do. I’ll take your advice to make the hissing go all the way throughout the entire song so it won’t be noticeable. I’ll take that into consideration.

I’m also planning on getting a USB microphone for the Ipad and maybe that will help get rid of the hissing completely! I’m doing whatever I can to get a cleaner sound. For now these recordings are just homemade and they’re just song ideas so they weren’t meant to be taken seriously!

Thanks for the positive feedback on the new song, though. On the song itself, I haven’t seen one person give negative feedback on it. I posted the song on my facebook page and people gave me 4 likes on it. I told ya, it was gonna be good!!! I told ya I was gonna take my songwriting to a different direction. There will be a lot more songs like that too. More slower and folky ballads. I’m planning on doing a mix of both slow songs and rock songs. I don’t want to ignore the rock n’ roll stuff ’cause that’s what I like and I need to rock myself!

As for the guitar sound, it was just one of those built in effects in Garage Band.
