This is exactly why bands shouldn’t be against music piracy… take note from Iron Maiden!!!!!

Are all bands against music piracy? Are they against fans downloading their music for free illegally? Not all of them. Some of them are actually all for people stealing their music whenever they want to. Metal legends, Iron Maiden has been in touch with a company called, MusicMetric, which is a company that measures data of how well a band does with illegally downloaded music. The company is able to tell how much music is illegally downloaded in countries all over the world. Iron Maiden has found that a lot of people has downloaded their music illegally from countries such as South America, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile. Is the band upset for fans illegally downloading their music? Nope. Think again. Seems like they are so flattered that they performed concerts for pirates instead.

See? This is what I’M FUCKING TALKING ABOUT GUYS!!!! It should be all up to the band how they want to release their music, not the labels. There are some bands out there that think music should be a free market and it’s great to see that Iron Maiden is one of those bands who believe in it.

This is their way of taking a stand against the shady music industry and it’s awesome. Makes me respect Iron Maiden even more now!

Music doesn’t always have to be about the money, ya know? It should be about playing music for the people and sharing it. That’s what a lot of these guys do it for. Iron Maiden doesn’t give a rats ass about money and this shows it too! It’s all about the love of music guys. If you let people take your music free… you can get more popular and more fans that way.

I refuse to put my music on Itunes and Spotify ’cause I don’t want people paying for my music. I’ll just let people take it and listen to it. A free music market is a better way to get your music out there.

  1. It’s not that they’re flattered . They are targeting the areas they’ve identified as have the strongest fan bases based on those metrics so they can, wait for it, capitalize and make the most money possible on their tours.

    1. I’ll stand by what I said. You just have a negative “opinion” on almost everything I post as usual (’cause I honestly think you enjoy that attention).

They’ve always been good with their fan base. They enjoy people supporting their music just like any band would.

    2. Think about it, if they were that money hungry then they wouldn’t have agreed to play these concerts for these pirates. They would have agreed to sue them instead and they would get paid a lot more for suing people than getting paid for playing concerts. Makes sense, right? That’s how you can tell they aren’t in it for the money. Common sense. Use it.

      1. btw, dude, Bruce Dickinson have always talked about illegal downloading for years and always seem to have approval of fans stealing their music. Do a google search and you’ll read articles about Bruce talking about it in interviews and other concerts such as this one in the video below. They’ve always been about free music. They have no problem with it. It has nothing to do with making money out of these concerts at all.

      2. Negative people always have to accuse famous bands of something. That’s another problem in the music world. Opinionated people. Fuck ’em. Iron Maiden doesn’t give a shit about money ’cause they’re already rich and loaded to begin with.

      3. You know exactly what I’m talking about, bone. You just want to argue my points about music being a free market, that’s all you wanna do. I don’t think you’re a fan of my work at all… you just come here to argue with me for your entertainment purposes. That’s pretty much it. Don’t you have better things to do with your time?

  2. You apparently didn’t read the same article everyone else did. They went there to make money. Concert after concert sold out. From the article:

“The band’s São Paolo concert alone grossed over $2.5 million.” and
“The band is now emphasizing touring and selling merchandise as revenue streams. “Maiden have been rather successful in turning free file-sharing into fee-paying fans,” said Musicmetric CEO Gregory Mead. “If you engage with fans, there is a chance to turn a percentage into paying customers.

As for downloading, Iron Maiden never had a problem with fans trading bootleg concert recordings, but they did and still do pursue pirates and illegal bootleggers dealing in their published and recorded material.

Iron Maiden was NOT there playing free concerts.

    1. You know something. You guys bone and Pauper are both total idiots and don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. I know Iron Maiden played these concerts for the money but if this is their way of bringing up ticket sales by promoting their concerts through illegal downloads and if they want to make cash in this way more power to them. It’s just a unique way of promoting their shows which other bands don’t do. Allowing fans to steal their music is a great way to bring more fans to your concerts.

Other bands don’t promote their concerts in this way. Other bands promoted their shows legally through advertisements and promoters… not through illegal downloaders.

You guys just won’t admit that this was a pretty ballsy move by Iron Maiden. It’s also their way of going after the industry and promoting the “free music” movement.

They never had a problem with people stealing their music. They’ve always believed in a free music market. You guys don’t know Iron Maiden well at all.

      1. You said earlier that they didn’t play the shows for money, but now your basically agreeing with the comments of mine you deleted, and calling me an idiot. Of course, you won’t post this either…

      2. “You said earlier that they didn’t play the shows for money, but now your basically agreeing with the comments of mine you deleted, and calling me an idiot. Of course, you won’t post this either…”

You’re still not comprehending of what I’m saying, though. I’m sure they did it to help raise ticket sales but I’m 100% sure they weren’t too worried about that. This is just their way of giving back to the fans who supported their music even though they took it illegally. Just their way of saying, “thank you”. Just their unique way of giving pirates an opportunity to see them live.

      3. Anyway, this is good business. Bands using data to see where their most popular from fans who illegally download music can be good for the industry. I bet the major labels are pissed off at Iron Maiden now and that’s the point. This is proof that illegal downloads can help boost ticket sales. Will the industry make free file-sharing legal down the road after this move? I doubt it but if more bands will do what Iron Maiden just did, maybe the industry will look at music in a different way then.

      4. You two clowns are a piece of work. All you two idiots do is argue, argue, argue, and argue. You guys always talk as if you’re talking facts when the truth is you’re nothing but very opinionated. All the time. Closing this.
