This stumbled upon my newsfeed in facebook this morning so I decided to share it here. This meme sends an interesting and positive message that you shouldn’t give up music no matter what anyone says.

Ya know, a lot of people mistakenly believe that in order to be a musician you need to have good talent. People are always looking for the best talent. That’s great and nothing wrong with that but in my eyes, music isn’t about that. You can be the shittiest singer and guitar player ever but you play music ’cause you love doing it. Music is not about pleasing others. It’s not about getting lots and lots of fans. Playing the bigger stages. Getting interviews with the press and all that stuff. Music is all about the love of it and that’s all I do it for.

People can hate my music and call me talent-less all they want to but I’m never giving up what I do. Local media outlets and the press can ignore my music and people can bash my talent all they want to. I’m always gonna be a musician ’til the day I die. That’s all there is to it. People can give me all kinds of negative criticism all they want to.

Several years ago, I almost gave it up ’cause of all the negative criticism and now I’m realizing that was a mistake.

Play music ’cause you like it. If you’re a bad singer or if you play your instrument horribly and sloppy?? Who cares!!! Music should be a hobby and a part of life.

Musicians always expect everyone to love them and it shouldn’t be that way.

Music should be for you, and that’s all that matters. Don’t let the critics and haters win.
