Rodrigo Y Gabriela is gonna be my new obsession, I think…

I’ve wanted to get into Rodrigo Y Gabriela for a long time so I decided to get two of their albums from Itunes. I bought their new album, “9 Dead Alive” and their 2006 self-titled release. I listened to both albums last night and was pretty much blown away with both records. Rodrigo Y Gabriela are two Mexican acoustic guitarists that play instrumental music. What genre do they play? It’s hard to tell. There’s all kinds of music going on. There’s a mix of flamenco, jazz, classical but they are MOSTLY rock and metal influenced, though. I’ve read that this duo was formed ’cause they were big fans of Metallica. Metallica inspired them to get together.

They have a total of 5 studio albums and I’ll buy their other 3 albums sometime in the future.

I know Rodrigo Y Gabriela have been around for a long time… I’ve been reading a lot about them through Guitar World magazine and seen a lot of their performances in youtube over the years so I finally decided to start getting their studio albums.

I’m really liking these two and becoming a huge fan.

Their newest album, “9 Dead Alive” is pretty amazing stuff. The album is pretty tight. They really know how playing acoustic guitar is done. They play with feeling and with heart which a lot of guitarists are missing these days. They also fuckin’ shred on the instrument!

I love listening to instrumental guitar music. Have been listening to that stuff for years. I think I’m gonna want to start making instrumental guitar music myself sometime. That’s part of why I wanted to get into finger picking and all that stuff. That’s why I want to listen to more jazz and classical for inspiration.

I’m never giving up the singing but someday, I will make an instrumental guitar demo. It’s always been my dream.

Check out Rodrigo Y Gabriela. These two are the future of acoustic guitar. They will change the acoustic guitar industry. Youtube Rodrigo Y Gabriela if you wanna check ’em out.
