There’s a lot of people out there that don’t like to listen to live albums but I love them! Reasons why live albums are good to listen to are: 1) You get an idea of what the band & artist is like at their live concerts which is what they’re for to begin with 2) You can hear different versions of your favorite songs live on stage ’cause a lot of bands & artists don’t play the songs the same way twice 3) There is more freedom to spontaneity and improvisation…
Here are my top ten favorite live albums in no particular order:
- Led Zeppelin – BBC Sessions
- Jimi Hendrix – Live at the Fillmore
- Allman Brothers – At Fillmore East
- David Bowie – Bowie At the Beeb
- Johnny Cash – Live at Folsom Prison
- Motorhead – No Sleep ’til Hammersmith
- Joe Bonamassa & Beth Hart – Live From Amsterdam
- Jefferson Airplane – The Woodstock Experience
- Nirvana – MTV Unplugged In New York
- KISS – Alive
That’s pretty much it. I’m sure there’s a few more, though.
