I’m beginning to think I should just be a lead guitarist and instrumentalist… not sure yet…

Man, I’m proud of all the positive feedback I got with this latest guitar jam. In facebook, I got ten “likes” for this video and a few people responded with positive feedback. Best of all, these people who gave me positive feedback on this jam aren’t musicians either. Ya know, when you get people who are not musicians and they know nothing about playing an instrument giving you positive feedback on your playing… that’s gotta say something, right?

I’m starting to think I should just focus on being the guitar player and not the singer/songwriter type. Maybe I should just focus on making guitar instrumentals. Ya know, I could be like Joe Satriani, Al Di Meola or a Steve Vai. Just make instrumental rock guitar. I love that stuff.

On top of that, I don’t think I’m a very good singer and lyricist anyway. I just did that stuff for fun and I like to play music.

Either that I could do both make songs that has vocals and do instrumentals. That’s what the Allman Brothers did. The Allman Brothers did both songs with vocals and no vocals.

I probably won’t give up singing ’cause I like doing it.

When I get a band going someday, maybe I should make an instrumental guitar album or a demo CD. I’ll probably end up doing both. Make songs with vocals and no vocals.

Like I said before, I didn’t make the backing track. I’m not very good at making my own backing tracks yet so I went looking for backing tracks to download from Itunes. I’ll probably buy more backing tracks soon.

Another little guitar jam in “A Dorian”…

Here’s a video of me that I recorded pretty quickly today. Just me jamming in “A Dorian” mode over a backing track. As you can hear the track is kind of Pink Floydish a little bit. I didn’t make the backing track… it was something I picked up from Itunes and I just jam some lead over it.

I think I might be an okay lead guitarist after all ’cause my playing is already getting some positive feedback already. There will be much more of me jamming along to backing tracks in the future. I’m just trying to practice my lead guitar playing and play like my heroes.

Enjoy!

Just Noodling Around #3… jamming over a slow ballad…

Here’s another jam track I just did… recorded through AmpliTube. I decided to try and play a solo over a slow ballad and I seem to pull it off okay!!! I’m playing over key changes this time.

I’m taking all the stuff I’ve learned over the years in my lead playing and testing out my skills.

Playing electric guitar is a lot of fun.

I need more pedals, though. I don’t have a large pedal collection. I only have three pedals in my collection. The only ones I have are the Metal Master, Boss Super Overdrive and I have a Wah pedal.

After hearing some of the pedals through AmpliTube makes me want to buy a Chorus, Delay, Flanger and a Echo pedal sometime. I wanna get a Fuzz pedal too ’cause that’s pretty cool sounding.

I really wanna buy an orange amp sometime in the future too ’cause the orange amp has a great sound.

I’d like to get a solid body electric guitar too. I have a hollow body electric but sometime I wanna buy a solid body with a whammy bar. I’d like to experiment and learn how to do whammy bar techniques.

I’d like to get more music gear and stuff but can’t afford it, right now. When I get a job and start working again, I’ll start saving for some of that stuff.

Wow… AmpliTube just rocks!!! To hell with garageband!!!

I spent most of the day working on AmpliTube. I got the DAW app that came with it (which was an extra $12.99 but worth it). I think AmpliTube freakin’ kicks ass! It has a more professional sound than garageband. It’s easier to record drums behind your playing too!

I think I’m gonna keep using AmpliTube for recording from now on and think I’m gonna delete garageband off of my Ipad.

I think I can make some pretty cool rock songs w/ AmpliTube.

Here’s a little jam that I just made up. Me jamming the A Major Pentatonic Scale over the simple A and G chord progression.

AmpliTube is designed to make full band music with.

Now I wish I have a bass guitar and I could record real bass with it. I still would like to buy a real bass guitar of my own someday. Maybe soon I’ll start saving up for one.

For now, I’ll just record rock n’ roll songs with guitar and drums.

As you can probably hear, I think I’m capable enough of playing some pretty good lead guitar solos… I just gotta improve the ear training part of it, though which is what I’m working on.

Soon I’ll start writing electric guitar rock songs with vocals.

New batch of songs are here… enjoy…

This is all I have so far. I still got a lot more writing to do. I’m just getting the songs uploaded on the internet now so I can get ’em off of my Ipad.

Enjoy all these!!!!

Just Noodling Around (audio)…

As you can probably hear by now, I’ve been taking lead guitar very seriously! I’ve been taking the stuff I learned from instructional books over the years and trying to improve my lead playing.

In this audio, here is me just noodling.

I’m just playing the G major chord throughout the entire song and just jamming over it with the G major scale. Just testing out my skills and just fuckin’ around is all I’m doing.

This solo isn’t written out either. I’m just “winging” it.

Some of you may ask, why jam over just a G major chord only? It’s good practice!!! That’s what it is. That’s how you wanna improve! In this track, I’m not just playing one fingered notes. I even threw some double stops and triads in there. Double stops and triads that fits the major scale so it can sound good as you can hear.

After listening to this track which doesn’t sound too bad at all, I’ve noticed a lot of Jimmy Page influences. You can probably hear it too. That’s probably because I listen to way too much Zeppelin over the years.

The next audio track, I’ll practice jamming over chord changes next time. I just wanted to test myself to see how I’m doing.

I think I’m capable of being a frontman for a rock n’ roll band… that’s something I’ve always wanted to do…

As some of you probably realize by now, my singing has gotten way better than ever before and I’m proud. I’ve gotten more head voice. I’ve gotten more range. More control. Singing with more vibrato. Singing more falsetto. I feel that my singing has gotten pretty decent. I remember in the past, my singing voice has gotten so much negative criticism and with these new songs that I’ve been putting out… I haven’t seen anyone say something negative about my singing which says something. Really, I’m telling the truth that I used to get a lot of nasty critics with my vocals in the past. You see, listening to negative criticism can sometimes be inspiring ’cause they help you improve.

I really practiced hard on my singing. Just practicing on my own with no vocal coach. Still gotta lot of work to do but I feel that I’m doing well. Just wanna do my very best and get better.

I’m getting kind of tired of singing solo, though. Someday, I would like to front a rock n’ roll band… sing covers or originals… whatever. I think I can do fine singing for a full band backing me up. Do it as a way to test out my vocals even more.

I love singing, though. It’s one of my favorite things to do. So glad I decided to take singing more seriously. Hard work really does pay off.

Someday, I’ll videotape myself doing vocal exercises so I can show you my secret on how I improve. Maybe I’ll do that next week.

I’ll always find ways to become a better singer just like I’m finding ways to become a better guitarist. I wanna become great at both.
