My new goals in music is mastering music theory and get better at ear training. I’ve been working on both pretty hard, all summer long. Learning scales & modes, things like that. There’s a lot of songwriters and guitar players out there that don’t even have a clue with music theory at all. I learned that if you want be a serious songwriter and get better at guitar, you have to know music theory. If you master music theory and get better at ear training, you’ll be able play anything. That’s my goal.

I’m starting to buy guitar instructional books on this stuff from the bookstore. Time to study music again. I feel I’m okay at guitar playing, but I’m not afraid to admit, that I still need a lot of work too. I want to become a little more professional. I want to jam with other musicians and you need to know theory in order to do that. I know some music theory here and there, but I’m no expert at it, yet.

I just want to improve my lead guitar soloing so I can record my own guitar solos over my songs. It’s feeling good to start learning and studying music again. I’ve honestly been working on that more than songwriting. Just want to get better, that’s all.

Today maybe about fireworks, cookouts, parades, parties, family get togethers, etc. you know the deal…but to me 4th of July isn’t about that stuff. It’s about celebrating America and being patriotic. I love America and very happy to be an American. I’m sure the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq will be over soon, it’s only a matter of time.

I think this is what my next batch of songs will be about. Political songs, and patriotic stuff. Songs about war. I’ve done songs about war in the past already, songs like “The Dark War” is one of them. I might of written a few more, don’t know. I want to write songs about something real, and yes, I’ve been writing again. I’ve been writing a bunch of song ideas down lately and writing lyrics again like a mofo. I might debut a song through youtube whenever I finish something.

I was late on the 4th of July post today, ’cause I was busy doing other things.

Today I found some time to download three more albums from Itunes though. I downloaded, Eminem’s “Recovery”, Danzig’s new album “Red Ded Sabaoth” and Tom Petty’s new album, “Mojo”. I listened to Danzig’s new album today, and it was his best record in a long time, very tight. Glen Danzig sings just like Jim Morrison, both of their voices have similarities but the music on the album is tight. It was worth the purchase. Haven’t listened to Eminem and Tom Petty yet, but will later this week. I’ll listen to them when I go to the gym this week. I always bring my Ipod to my workouts.

I took most of this week off of working out, it’s good to take little breaks from it once in a while. Don’t want to over do yourself.

The internets like to make the mistake to think that Tobias and I are best friends. I don’t know anything else about him other than his love for music and performing. The truth is that Toby is just a big fan of my music, that’s pretty much all he is. A supporter/fan. When I used to gig in the past, Toby came out to almost everyone of my gigs. So with his support of my music and my performing, I supported him in return like I do with all musicians that supported my music. Occasionally, Toby and I would go see a local music show to support other bands in the Capital Region. That doesn’t make us best friends. Toby is now in Pittsburgh and we don’t keep in touch anymore like we used to.

I agree that his music and professionalism needs a lot of work, he is also kind of weird and strange but at least he’s a good guy. There’s nothing wrong with being weird and strange, as it is called, “being yourself as a person”. I always thought it was wrong to make fun of people no matter the kind of person they are. All humans deserve to be treated like the way you want to be treated.

I’m not being mean, just being a 100% honest. Needed to speak out on this and get this off my chest.

Yep, I’ve been experimenting with new song ideas. Starting to write down lyrics again. I believe inspiration is finally coming. Hopefully I’ll have another batch of new songs in the future. My songs will probably stay dark and angry like most of them are, but I think my next batch of songs will stay away from the horror and crime fiction stuff. I’m going to follow the footsteps of Neil Young, Springsteen and Tom Morello, go political. Talk about current events, the things going on in the news. I figure it’s time to write songs about real stuff here. I don’t write songs about love or write songs about women, that stuff is too boring for me.

Making music is what I do. People can trash my talent. People can love it. Either way, makes me feel proud. I need to get back to making songs again. Would like to start performing live again too. When I get a few new songs written, I might start hitting some open mics. Maybe I’ll book a few actual gigs sometime down the road too. Honestly, I miss playing out and being part of the music scene. Pretty soon I hope to no longer sit around and get back out there. I know, I haven’t had a gig in a long while.

Took a few days off of online. Why? Because I lost my internet connection for like 4 or 5 days. Got my internet back to working again. Was I bored and dissapointed with no internet for a while? No, not at all. Seriously. It inspired me to get my mind off the internets even more. I didn’t even look at the internet else where. Just wanted to take a little hiatus from it. Give my computer a break. It’s good to do that once in a while.

What did I do since I didn’t have internet the last couple of days? Did my usual things. Go to the gym, played more guitar, and played more video games. I finished “Red Dead Redemption” already. It was a pretty easy and simple game, very short. I liked the storyline though. I’ll review “Red Dead Redemption” in another post tomorrow. I’ll also talk about last night’s “WWE RAW” tomorrow as well. Lots of things to discuss, get things off my chest and catch up on the blog.

I did see the “A-Team” movie over the weekend, and it was pretty good. Not the best ever, but it was an entertaining movie. Just your typical popcorn flick, but at least it had good acting with a good cast. I’ll be looking forward to, “The Expendables” in August. That’ll be the better action movie I think.

…I hinted at quitting just to give you a clue that I vow to keep this place civilized from this point on. Anonymous trolls just coming here to ramble on about stupid stuff is no longer welcomed.

A back and forth discussion debate is fine but attacks or insults at the blog owner won’t be tolerated. Just come here for a friendly discussion is all I asked for. If you want to do your anonymous bullcrap else where, that’s fine. Just not here.

On a positive note, I am watching UFC 115 tonight. Looking forward to the Chuck Liddell vs. Rich Franklin fight. I’m rooting for Rich Franklin. Lets witness Chuck Liddell lose another fight tonight!
