More CDs/DVD reviews coming along the way…

So on my day off of work today, I decided to go on another shopping spree. I love shopping, it’s one of the things I love to do, can’t help it!

Things I picked up today:

-The Sword’s new CD “Gods of the Earth”

-Joe Satriani’s new CD “Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock”

-Rihanna’s new CD “Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded”

-The new Ric Flair 3 Disc DVD set “The Nature Boy Ric Flair – Defintive Collection”

I will review all those things soon to let you know my thoughts on them.

I didn’t get a chance to see a movie in theater today, so I walked around and did some shopping instead, got to the mall a little too late.

Maybe I will see “Tropic Thunder” in San Diego next week if there is a nearby movie theater near my brother’s apartment. I’m off the computer for the night to watch the Olympics.

Reminder: San Diego Vacation Aug. 21-27…

Yep, I’ll be heading out to San Diego, California where my brother and his girlfriend is currently living there. This San Diego vacation is pretty much my own decision to head out there because I’m bored of New York and need to get out of here for a week. Be away from the non-stop rain and thunderstorms we’ve been having here lately, and be away from my boring day job to go out and have lots of fun for myself. It’ll be all sunny and warm all the time in San Diego. During my vacation in Aug. 21-27th, I will not be posting in my blog around that time at all. My brother will probably have a computer at his house, but I need a break from the computer so I won’t be using it at all around this time.

But I will be back on the blog when I come home from vacation to tell you all about it, full report and I’ll post a bunch of pics of course.

I just learned that Balboa Park in San Diego is not far at all from the apartment where my brother is living. So all of us will be able to get to Balboa Park with no problems at all! Balboa Park in San Diego has so many musuems there.

Other than going to the San Diego Zoo and the Air & Space Musuem, I also would like to check out the “The National History Museum”, and “The Model Railroad Musuem”.

We might even be going to see the Dave Matthews Band in concert on Aug. 22nd somewhere in California ’cause my brother and his girlfriend plan on going. It’s going be a crazy vacation. Lots of things to do in San Diego, you’re never going to be bored in that city.

This is my first big trip on a plane and getting excited and stoked. I want to make it a great vacation the week that I’m there and no, I won’t spend all my extra spending money in San Diego in one place so I’ll make sure I won’t be broke when I come back home.

I won’t be going on this trip alone, it will be a family and friends thing. My father is staying home and my sister is coming to the trip a few days later.

We’re just going to visit the San Diego Zoo, see some musuems, go to the beaches, maybe go see DMB in concert, eat at some unique restaurants, do some shopping in downtown San Diego, etc. I can’t wait, this vacation is gonna be a blast and I’m predicting it will be the best vacation in my life.

I don’t think crime is that bad in San Diego so I don’t think I’ll worry about getting mugged or robbed in the streets. It all depends on where you go to in that city, you just gotta stay away from the places where the gangs hang out and never talk to a stranger.

About my college thing…

So I went to ACC College in Glens Falls this afternoon to register to go back to school, but according to the school, I can’t register for classes at this point since I graduated high school with an IEP Diploma back in 1996. I didn’t know that. So now I’m going to have to study for the GED test so I can get a college education. So that means my college education won’t happen this soon, I’ll have to wait a while longer later this year. I want to pass the GED test so I can get an GED diploma. I really want to get a college education badily taking English courses to learn how to write better so I can hopefully start a book writing career or write for an newspaper/magazine or both. So the college thing won’t happen right away but hopefully in the near future. It’s getting worked on and I’m trying hard to make it happen.

So after that, I went and did a lot of clothes shopping since I was in need of new clothes. I also bought a few fun things for myself in Saratoga Springs. I picked up the game “Beijing Olympics 2008” for the PS3, I’m not much of a sports fan but I do love the Olympics, I enjoy Olympic video games and this game “Beijing Olympics 2008” for the PS3 is supposed to be a great one. I also picked up a couple of movies on DVD: “Alien Vs. Predator 2: Requiem” and “The Ruins” (a horror film, I got the unrated version), I haven’t seen these two movies yet but I will review them soon after I watch them.

I also picked up a couple of books for me to read while I’m on the plane to San Diego. Since the “Twilight” series are getting so popular, I went looking for the books of those series. There are four of those novels in the series, “Twighlight”, “New Moon”, “Eclipse” and the newest one “Breaking Dawn”. I bought them all except for “Eclipse”, none of the bookstores had “Eclipse” but I won’t give up trying to find that one. If they don’t have a copy of that book here in New York if it’s sold out everywhere, I will look at a bookstore in San Diego. I know these series are made for young adults, aka teenagers. But hey, the “Chronicles of Narnia” and “Harry Potter” books were written for young adults but people in all ages have been reading them anyways. You’re never too old to read any book you want. And besides, I’m interested in vampire stories which is what made me want to get these.

This was the most of shopping I’ve done all year long, I usually don’t do this much, I was just getting prepared for my San Diego vacation in a couple of weeks.

Now I’m home to relax for the rest of the night.

Thought: When people criticize my own music…

When people criticize my own music, like when some folks say that I suck or have no talent, I think they need to be detailed and be said with class without such immature attacks. When I reviewed the two local bands posted a few posts down, I never personally attacked them once, just kindly gave my honest criticism, it may be negative criticism but at least I did it in a friendly way.

Mostly when people try to criticize my own music, they do it just to try and upset me or they’ll start to be more open about my music after I start criticizing other bands. It’s like a “you do this to me, I’ll do this back to you” kiddie type of thang. You don’t have to start bashing my music just to show me how it feels. You either like it or you don’t. I know my tunes aren’t for everyone but I still appreciate people listening even if they hate it or like it. It’s all good.

The truth is, people can send me all kinds of nasty and harsh critics toward my music all they want to. I am never upset or pissed off about it!!! It’s the truth! As a matter of fact, I am actually flattered that it gets talked about whether it’s bad or good feedback.

I have been playing shows in the Capital District for a little over a year, I played a good number of 35 shows in one year, not bad for an acousticc guy who had played almost every venue at a short time!

Why have I not been gigging much? I said before I’m on a hiatus. I’m working a full time day job that is kind of keeping me away from music but I still do play guitar and write when I come home from work at times. I’m soon going to be a college man this fall, and that will probably take me away from music also but going back to school will give me more time to write new songs though.

I write music for me. It’s something I love doing and it what makes me happy. Hopefully soon I’ll start writing new songs again so I can get a new demo album in the works. Then I’ll hopefully start playing a slew of gigs again.

Sure, I can be a little crazy and be a little negative or be a jerk at times, but so what? I am being myself and being who I am. Besides, who isn’t negative or a jerk at times? Everyone is once in a while, it is life. It’s just that nobody has the right to come on here and badily judge my personality. I have friends and supportive people around me and they aren’t going to agree with some of the nasty things some negative people say about me out there. I only take advice and trust the people that I know well, not from the people I don’t know well.

I barely ever use my blog to talk about myself much anymore but to go for something different for once other than entertainment news, I wanted to say all this to get it off my chest.

Cool Video: The Star Trek Exhibition musuem in San Diego…

I’m looking at youtube videos of people visiting the Star Trek Exhibition museum in San Diego at Balboa Park in the Air and Space Museum. I really gotta go to this badily. Judging by the videos, the people walking around the musuem are carrying digital cameras around, so it looks like they do allow cameras there.

When I go to that musuem, I probably will bring my digital cam to the Star Trek musuem to take a bunch of pics.

In the Transporter room you not only get the opportunity to stand on it, you also get the actual opportunity to get beamed up. How cool is that? I can’t wait to go to this. It only costs $24.00 to get in this musuem, so that’s a great price! According to their website, the musuem is open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. so I’ll have my chance to get in and check the place out during my week vacation.

Of course, I will check out the rest of the Air and Space Musuem other than the Star Trek one. Going to musuems is one of my favorite things to do when on a vacation. The rest of the Air and Space Museum will probably be nothing about Airplanes and outer space.

Fun things to do in San Diego…

I was just doing more research of more fun things to do in San Diego, California for my vacation for a week. There is a few more things that caught my eye again. Other interesting things to do besides the beach and the San Diego zoo. I want to try and make it the best vacation ever so I’m online looking for cool things to do.

One thing that definitely caught my eye right away, is that there is this musuem called the San Diego Air and Space musuem located at Balboa Park. In that Air and Space musuem, has a special musuem called “The Star Trek Exhibition”, it’s a musuem dedicated to nothing but Star Trek.

Check it out:

http://www.startrektickets.com/index.html

Look at all the cool things you get to do in that museum, you get to sit in the Captain’s original chair on the original Enterprise set from the original TV series, you get to take a Starship enterprise tour, you get to visit the actual Transporter room where you beam up places and stand on it too, you get to ride through a computerized galaxy in space, you also get to visit the Enterprise from Star Trek the Next Generation and get to sit on Captain Picard’s chair…

Since I’m such a huge Star Trek fan, I’m gonna fuckin’ love this musuem and yes, I will probably be all over it and go crazy! I’m a lifelong Star Trek fanatic and I definitely gotta check this out!!!!!

Check out a few photos of the Star Trek museum here doing a random google search:

http://photos.signonsandiego.com/gallery1.5/080620trek/NL_StarTrek287479x008

Amazing!!!! That Star Trek museum will make you actually feel like you’re right in the TV series and being a part of it! I GOTTA GO TO THAT! I will try to order tickets to that museum sometime before my vacation so I can have tickets in handy when I go down there.

Another thing I want to do is check out “Sea World – San Diego” to see all the wild sea animals:

http://www.seaworld.com/sandiego/

Tickets to that Sea World is not that bad, it’s around 60 dollars for a day.

I will be bringing lots and lots of spending money to my vacation, so it will be all good! Can’t wait for San Diego, the vacation is getting closer and I’m leaving August 21st, that’s the day of my flight to get there.

More on going to college…

So I picked my classes that I plan to take in Acc College this fall. The courses I may be taking are: “Reading, Writing Workshop A”, “Creative Writing: Drama, Poetry and Fiction”, and “Small Business Management”.

The college thing is really happening this fall and I’m getting excited. This is something I should have done a long time ago after I graduated high school.

The reason I’m taking those writing courses is beacuse like I said before, I am taking fiction writing again seriously and want to get better at it. I’m also taking the “Small Business Management” course, because I hope to own my own small business in the future.

I want to own my own store in Greenwich that sells a variety of stuff from books, music CD’s, video games, DVDs/Blu Ray discs, etc. I want to have live music in that store too of course probably starting off with open mic shows.

As far as working my job goes, I’m going to have to work my job part time in the fall ’cause I can’t do both college and work full time. I’d rather do college full time instead of work, so for work, I’ll go back to part time. I’ll need more free time to study for tests and exams and stuff.

Sometime soon before the fall, I need to go to Acc College to get registered and sign up for the classes I want to take. I’ll probably start going back to school when I get back home from my San Diego vacation.

As far as my San Diego vacation goes, I’m really looking forward to that as well. We’re definitely gonna go to the famous “San Diego Zoo” and they do allow cameras there, so I’ll take a bunch of pics at the Zoo. I’ll probably do other things besides the Zoo of course, like going to the beaches, doing some shopping in downtown San Diego, going to the bars/clubs for a few drinks, eat at some expensive restaurants probably, sight seeing in San Diego, etc. Whatever we can think of.

My brother and his girlfriend lives in downtown San Diego, directily in the city, just a couple of blocks from the beach. Can’t wait to get out of New York for a week, I haven’t been on vacation in a long long time. The last vacation I went on was at Martha’s Vineyard island, in Mass and that was a couple of years ago.

You’re never too old to go back to school…

If you’re sick and tired of working shitty and crappy minimum waged jobs, go back to school and get a college education for a better career! That’s what I’m doing this fall. I think the college thing is definitely happening and I’m going to Acc College pretty soon to sign up and get registered.

I’m still aiming to take a writing/English course. I’ve taken fictional story writing seriously again and to hopefully become a profesional author in the future. My dream has always been to publish my own novel to bookstores, that was my first dream before music.

I don’t think I’m ever gonna “make it” in the music business, but I would like to “make it” in the book writing industry. I could be like Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Dan Brown, John Grisham and all those greats. I got good grades in English in High School, and I used to read aloud my short stories in English class all the time. Back in my high school years, I’ve written mostly vampire stories and serial killer stories. I’m a huge fan of vampires, I like reading vampire novels and watching vampire flicks. It is unique storytelling and insightful.

I will be taking more than one courses other than writing which is what I’m definitely taking, possibly a computer course or a business course, don’t know yet. But I will decide soon.

Life is short, you don’t want to live your life working shitty jobs. Make a good career of yourself so you can live something huge before you get too old. Looking forward to college this year.
