The request for reviews by other bands & musicians are really starting to come in!

Over the past week, since I announced it, the requests for album reviews and other things are really starting to come in. Keep in mind though, I can’t get to everything at once, but I won’t ignore them all. I will be sure to give a review to EVERYTHING that comes in. It’ll take some time, though, ’cause I’ll have to listen to the albums a few times before writing my thoughts down.

I’m not trying to become the next big music mogul. I’m just a fan of music trying to discover what’s out there. I’m not doing this just to get free music by bands & artists either. I do love getting free music by bands but I see this as an opportunity to promote each other’s music. Theirs and mine.  Again, it’s a pretty smart, marketing trick, that’s what this is all about. That’s why a lot of them are willing to send me free music, even though they don’t usually do it.

Next review, I need to review a band called, Skeletons In the Piano, on their upcoming album, so be on the look out for that. I also got another CD in the mail by a band called, “The Weasels”. Maybe this can work, after all. If one day, if my e-mail gets flooded with requests and I get over loaded, I’m gonna have to invite a trusted contributor to this blog and have a second person help me review albums. I should be able to do it all by myself just fine, though.

I’m planning on getting my own music back out there again, hopefully this year, and I see this as an opportunity in getting my own music heard, as well. Back and forth promotion. Just something to think about.

About the “Film of the Days”…

Notice, how I’m quickly trying to stop doing those, “Film of the Day” topics on here? It’s true. It’s becoming annoying to do on here every day. Too much work, in my opinion. Instead of giving up on this completely, I’ll just move the “Film of the Day” topics to twitter instead. Kind of a pain to do daily. It’ll probably be easier to do on twitter. More fun there too.

Happy Easter…

Hope you all will have a great Easter today.

Later tonight, there is going to be three TV shows on. “Game of Thrones – Season 3” premiere, “Walking Dead – Season 3” finale, and “Vikings” episode 5. Gonna try to stay up late and watch all 3 of them.

I know I’ve been ignoring, the “Film of the Day” topics, but I’ll get back into doing them first thing tomorrow.

There’s a couple of topics I need to get off my chest today. I’ll get to ’em later this afternoon.

Finger style guitar (or finger picking)

As I’ve said once before, I’ve been experimenting with a lot of finger picking on acoustic steel string. Why? Because, I’m planning on writing original songs like that. I’m planning on writing a lot more folkier songs, so I wanted to get the hang of finger style guitar. Playing guitar with your bare hands, and not using a pick! I’ve already had written a few finger style like songs in the past, and “Evil Fred” was one of them. I don’t play that song with a pick. If I did, the song wouldn’t work.

I love finger style guitar, but it’s a pain in the ass to do it, all the time. The tip of your right fingers, will start hurting and you could get blisters, especially playing along with a metronome. I’ve gotten bad blisters on my finger tips before, and I had to stop playing until the blisters heal up. That’s why I gotta start making my finger nails on the right hand grow longer and I can use my finger nails as picks. It’s safer for your finger tips. I love finger style, though. I wanna do that a lot more.

I also learned that if you want to get good at finger style, you learn classical guitar, and that’s what I’m planning to do soon. Finger style really makes your right hand sore when playing it a long time. So it definitely takes a lot of practice if you want to finger pick throughout an entire song successfully.

I seem to be getting better with the metronome too. I think I will play along with the metronome from now on. It really does help your guitar playing.

Cool Photo: This is what I call true love and a real relationship!!!

I hate facebook memes and inspirational quotes, but this one is worth passing along. This is a perfect example of the kind of relationship I look for in a woman. To keep that quote in the photo small and simple, someone who really cares for you every step of the way. Someone who won’t use you for money. I don’t want the type of woman who will only love you just because you buy her dinners or if you have a cool car or if she won’t date you ’cause you don’t drive like me.

I laugh at those kind of women who will dump their boyfriends or divorce their husbands, when they either quit a job or get fired. It happens, I’ve seen it.

A true relationship is someone who loves and cares for you every step of the way. If a man can find a woman like that described in this photo, a man will do the same to her, care for her in return.

That’s what I want in a girlfriend and lover. True companionship, and a best friend.

I take this relationship thing, very seriously, and being careful with it. It’s better to stay single until the right one comes around. You don’t have to worry about getting heart broken and getting yourself destroyed, and becoming an emotional wreck. I don’t need that.

Someday, I will find the love of my life.

I do accept bands & artist review submissions…

I love it when bands & artists e-mail me, asking me to review them on something. Whether it’s a music video or an album or whatever, I’m game to giving bands honest reviews. I think the reason why bands & musicians reach out to me once in a while, is because they see me write so much about local music, and reviewing bands of all kinds, and they are just curious of what I have to say about them. I do accept bands & artists submissions. Not just local bands around my area. They can be bands & artists from around the states, around the world. Unsigned, indie, or even national bands if I can get ’em somehow. I’m always looking for music to listen to and more bands to support. They can be any genre too! Rock n’ roll, metal, acoustic, folk, rap, hip hop, etc. Anything really.

If interested, send me an e-mail at: rockystallone6@gmail.com.

I’ll put up a new link on this site about it.

Why I’m so outspoken in music and other things…

A lot of people wonder why I’m so honest and outspoken in music, and other topics. Sometimes my thoughts on music and other things can spark some controversy. I’ll sometimes get a public backlash on some of the things, I say, sure. I’ve always believed it was a good thing to tell the truth. I’m just not afraid of the truth. If other people want to tell the truth about me, that’s just fine. I’m not afraid anything. I know the truth may upset some folks, but why hide your feelings on things inside? Don’t hide your emotions and thoughts. I have nothing to hide. There are so many bloggers out there and websites, being so positive and lovely about everything. Again, I just think it’s good to tell the truth. Be real about stuff. Have the balls to say the stuff that people are afraid to say. That’s always been me, and I’ll never change.

I’ve always believed that it’s an important thing that a musician needs to be honest and real about things. Why would you want to be happy and lovely about everything, ya know? I try to be. I’m just not afraid to speak my mind. No holds barred, anything goes. I’ve always been this way in forums and other places online. Why am I like this online? It’s because it’s how I am, off the computer. Just an honest and real guy. It’s just who I am.

If I ever got to get interviewed for radio, newspapers or magazines someday, people are probably not gonna like what I have to say and many of the stuff I’ll have to say will probably get edited out. This is probably part of why I post on my blog. It’s just my own area where I can have my own freedom of expression. Even if I have my own blog, people still seem to get mad at some of the stuff I say on here.

My opinions and thoughts on certain topics will always remain the same. People can argue and debate with me all they want to, I will always believe in and stand by the things I say. I just feel it’s good to tell the truth about things and it makes life easier.

I do support all national music, and local music. I support musicians of all kinds, but I’m still gonna have some brutal honesty. If a band plays a show that’s not all that good, I won’t be afraid to say it. If they act unprofessional or if I disagree with how bands do things, I won’t be afraid to say it. Maybe this is part of why I’ve always had a love & hate relationship between musicians and music fans.

That’s okay, though. I like telling the truth. I don’t feel ashamed of doing it, either. I’m not afraid to give things bad reviews either. Nothing wrong with having an honest opinion on something. If it’s on your mind, get it out of you. Don’t hide it in. Whether the public reaction you get is either good or bad, hey, it’s not the end of the world. It’s not perfect. Life isn’t about pleasing everyone. Just simply be yourself. That’s what it’s all about.

The metronome…

I have been playing guitar along with a metronome a lot more often. It’s coming along really well. Counting rhythm along with a metronome is actually pretty easy. Not that hard as you think. Every time I pick up the guitar, I turn the metronome on. Still trying to get a sense of rhythm and timing better. This Spring/Summer, I think I’m planning on looking for a drummer to jam with. Just a drummer, not an actual band. I want to jam with a drummer ’cause it would help me test out my timing skills. Timing is everything in music. It must be taken seriously. It is important ’cause that way you won’t slow down or speed up by accident in a middle of the song. A metronome and a drummer will help you keep a steady tempo. If you play in time, people will take your songs a lot more seriously. Playing in time will help write your songs better and will help you play better guitar solos too. Most importantly, the secret to playing tighter and with more energy is timing. Understand the timing in music, and you would be able to play just about any genre of music.

While I mostly want to be a rock n’ roll and hard rock kind of songwriter, I need to switch it up and vary the genres. I need to be versatile, so I will be writing folky slow ballads. Maybe I will play a little bit of blues and jazz sometime in the future. I need to try everything.

I’m really trying to improve my musicianship ’cause I want to get better at songwriting and playing better guitar solos. Trying all I can and loving every bit of it.

Happy International Women’s Day…

I know I’ve been coming across as hateful against women in this blog a little bit, but it’s not true. I love women. As I’ve said before, they’re my favorite. I’ll publicly admit that I don’t have too much experience with them, but I’m learning more about them and trying to understand them. I’ve been told that if you want women to get to like you, that you must show them respect. Give them nice compliments. Tell her that she’s beautiful and gorgeous, instead of hot, if she’s attractive to you. Be confident. Make her laugh and make her smile a lot, and the next thing you know, she’ll be all over you before you know it. I’m beginning to feel that women aren’t that hard to talk to, they are pretty easy to talk to, in fact, as they are just real people like us. Treat them like people, you can be friends with any of them.

I like women of all types. Well, except for blondes and redheads. I’m more into the brunettes. I don’t really care what women look like in fact, as long as they are cool people and fun to talk to, that’s all I care about. That’s what I look for, a personality. Personality first, attraction second.

I know this holiday is meant to celebrate women around the world, but I love those Asian women, they are my favorite as well.

When it comes to international women’s day, everyone likes to talk about the female celebrities. Who are my favorite female celebrities? Well for starters, Marilyn Monroe. I also love Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Mila Kunis, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, and that girl who plays Maggie in, “The Walking Dead”.

Women are amazing. Someday, I’ll get the right one, if there is such a thing.

I know I’ve been silent on here a lot more this week but…

… I’ll try to post on this blog more this weekend.

I keep busy trying to do other things. I just bought the new “Tomb Raider” game last Tuesday on the day it came out, and I’ve been playing that game since then. The game is really amazing. It’s the best “Tomb Raider” game, I think. I’ll give the game a full detailed review after I complete the main story line game. It is worth the 60 dollars, I’m happy I got the game. It’s a big time survival game, for sure. It’s a new era for Lara Croft, a reboot, I think. Killer game, though. The graphics are out of this world, and the gameplay is such a blast.

In other news, I know that guitarist Alvin Lee died, I haven’t gotten around to posting the obit yet, but will get to it. It’s just kind of hard to keep up with the celebrity deaths, so I can’t really get to all of them. I also forgot about the “Film of the Day” stuff, and will try to get going on that stuff daily tomorrow as well.

There are too many topics I need to talk about. I’ve just been finding other things to do than just hanging on the computer. I’ll get the blog going again this weekend.
