About my P.A. System…

Remember that post I wrote when I said I needed a better P.A. system in order for me to form a band? Well today I rehearsed my set for Saturday’s show at the Alcove, using my P.A. and electric guitar amp separately. I found that the microphone on the P.A. is loud enough over the electric guitar even with overdrive effects. I can hear my singing over my electric guitar playing just fine. Yes, it is loud enough for a band. So I’m pretty much all set to get my own band going.

Maybe this summer I will start posting ads in craigslist, CRUMBS, facebook, etc. to look for musicians who are interested in auditioning.

The reason I want to get my own band going so badly, is not only that this is something I always wanted to do, I want to get it going for my fans and the supporters. I do have quite a fan base going with my music, believe it or not. There are musicians around the area who enjoy my music and I’m sure there are plenty of musicians that would want to jam with me.

When I get a band going, will I be the only songwriter in the band? Will I be the one writing all of the stuff? No. Definitely not. I would want everyone to contribute. Each member of the Beatles took turns writing songs, I would probably do the same with my band. Each member can have a hand in writing their own material.

I also won’t discriminate. I don’t care what the band member looks like, if you’re male or female. Doesn’t matter the skin color you are and I wouldn’t even care how old you are. As long as you have the talent, that’s all that matters to me.

I think the Capital District would like it if I had my own band and it should happen whenever the time is right.

Memorial Day

While Memorial Day is aimed for the fallen troops who died at war, you should be thankful for the people in the military who are still alive as well. If you have a family member or a friend who’s been in the military, you should thank them too. I know a few people in my life who have joined the Army, Navy, and the Marines. They should be thanked. Give them a handshake or a hug or whatever. Anybody in the military deserves the full support and respect.

Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day today. It’s a hot one today, I know. I didn’t do much. Like I said, taking the whole Memorial Day weekend for myself. It’s been nice.

I’m going to get back into my workout routine tomorrow.

Not doing much, this Memorial Day weekend…

Hope all readers are having a fun weekend. I know, it’s been very hot all weekend. This weekend I decided to take Memorial Day weekend all for myself. Take the entire weekend off from music, fitness, etc. Enjoy the weekend for myself. Watching more of “Lost – Season 2” and catching up with some reading of the “Game of Thrones” novel.

Played a little more “Mortal Kombat” too. This is the best “Mortal Kombat” game ever made, in my opinion. The game play is amazing, and the graphics are killer. I love the new characters they put in too. The fighting moves aren’t that hard to learn either. Only thing I have a tough time trying to figure out how to do on the game is the finishing moves, but I’ll get it with practice. I’m just playing the Arcade, “Tower” games in “Mortal Kombat”. I’m not playing the storyline or online yet, I want to get the hang of the game first and learn it. I plan to play “Mortal Kombat” for a long while and when I get bored of that game, I’ll start “L.A. Noire”.

For all the men and women in the military who served our country, thanks for what you do. That is what my song “Be Home Safe” is about. The song is about love, peace and war if you listen to the lyrics. It’s a song dedicated to all people who served for our country.

Looking forward to my June 4th gig. I hope to put on the best performance as possible. I’ve been working so hard on my music and practicing a lot. I really want people to start seeing me as a musician and live performer. I vow to do what I can to achieve that dream.

RANT: Squashing the mentally handicapped accusations…

One thing that the internet seems to enjoy doing is call me a mentally handicapped or a retarded person. You know what? I get that quite a lot. I have no choice but to deal with it and ignore it all. Funny thing is, that a lot of people who call me this are mostly people who don’t even know me as a person. It’s mostly people who haven’t even met me as well. Believe what you want to believe. I’m not mentally retarded or handicapped or what ever you want to call me.

This isn’t high school, kids. In the adult world, you don’t call other people that. It’s disrespectful and wrong. If I was right there in front of your face, would you say that to me in person? No, I didn’t think so. If someone said that to my face, I wouldn’t be very friendly either.

I never judged other people. No matter who they are or what they look like, you’re no better than others. Anybody who says this stuff deserves a punch in the face.

“Handicapped” or “Retarded” are the wrong words to describe those kind of people anyway. It’s offensive and childish. I may not speak perfectly, I may not be a hot looking guy, and may still have a lot to learn, but that doesn’t mean I’m “handicapped” or “retarded”.

People who call others those things are probably low lives with nothing going on. People like that need to grow up.

RANT: People online have the worst communication skills ever, fact…

Why is there too much hate and negativity online? Why is there so much drama? It’s because most people are illiterate when it comes to online communication. Most people are horrible at it. This is why I try my best to stay out of online discussion of any kind. This is why I have my own blog site where I can have my own little space to speak my mind and keep away from everything else.

It’s hard getting into discussions and debates about things online. I try to stay away from it as much as possible. I don’t go to other forums and other blogs that much for this very reason anymore.

I don’t see how my internet personality is that bad when certain people think it is. I’m just a dude that enjoys speaking my mind like a lot of people. Most people think they can come online and say what they want, but when I do it, that makes me the badguy, all of a sudden. People are really weird that way. It happens when I disagree with other people and they get mad.

I get wrongfully judged of being a “troll” or a “hater” or whatever.

When I think other people are wrong with what they say in discussion debates, other people are going to think they are “right”, no matter what I say. It’s the same thing with music discussions. The second you say negative things about a band that everyone likes, their fans will defend them no matter what.

The thing you have to ask is, am I offended at the public backlash I get from people online? Do I get upset about it? No. I actually enjoy it. You gotta have balls. I think if you’re going to speak your mind and piss everyone off, you’re doing something right like I’ve said a few times before. It means you grabbed everyone’s immediate attention. They get mad because you are probably, “right”.

I’m just not afraid to speak my mind on things. If something is on my mind, I need to get it off my chest. People can believe what they want to believe, I’ll always be the same person.

Would I ever get a Nook or a Kindle for reading novels?

These new gadgets for reading books, the “Nook” and “Kindle” are getting very popular. Everyone seems to be getting them. Would I ever get one of those gadget things?

No.

Honestly, I have never been a gadget kind of guy. People are obsessed with those things but I don’t understand it. I do have a cell phone but I barely use it. I don’t think I’ll ever get an Iphone or an Ipad either.

On reading books on those gadget things, I’m an old school kind of guy. So I would prefer reading novels on either hardcover or paperback ’cause I don’t want to be staring at a screen for hours. Reading books on hardcover or paperback is better and more healthier than those electronic gadgets. Plus, I enjoy collecting books.

I’m not trying to piss anyone off, but this is how I feel about those gadget things that’s been very popular lately. I only got a cell phone just to use it when I go out of the house and in case of an emergency or something. I’m not that popular so I don’t have hundreds of phone numbers on a cell phone like so many people have.

I like having my privacy when I get out of the house. I don’t need to tell everyone where I’m going or what I’m doing 24/7.

Thinking about something…

I don’t mean to sound egotistical. People will probably accuse me of being delusional. I’m going to be a bit honest here. Maybe some of you will even agree with it. It seems that a lot of people in the Capital District are pretty obsessed with talking about me. Whether it’s negative or positive. People talk about me in the scene at live gigs. People talk about me online, whether in facebook,  twitter or youtube. It seems that my name is everywhere. People are always coming to my blogs and wanting more from me. Even if people don’t like me, they continue to read anyway.

I honestly think that some people are afraid to admit that they respect me as a person and being a good songwriter. Some people claim they don’t like me, but deep down inside they have at least 1 positive thing to think about me. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t be listening to my tunes online.

I’m proud of the tunes I do. I’m not saying that I’m better or bigger than everyone but I think you know that I’m good at what I do musically.

The reason this blog has been kind of slowing down…

Have you noticed that I’ve only been putting up like a few posts on this blog a day? It’s because I’ve been busy preparing and rehearsing for my upcoming show at the Alcove Marina June 4th in a few weeks. Plus, I take some time in to do my work outs at the Greenwich Y. In the evenings, I spend some time trying to catch up with “Lost” and “Dexter”, two TV shows I’ve been trying to catch up on. I’ve been keeping myself busy.

Yes, I’ve been pretty hooked to the JJ Abrams shows, “Lost”, halfway through the 1st season. I know, I know, I’m really LATE on watching “Lost” but so far I’m loving that show too. The show is addicting so I can see why that show was very popular. The characters and the stories in “Lost” are interesting. When I finish Season 1, I’ll give it a full detailed review.

Tomorrow, I plan to go to the mall to check out the new vampire flick, “Priest” and to pick up that new “L.A. Noire” game for the PS3.

Why do I review everything? It’s because after I see a movie, hear an album, read a book or play a video game, I feel that I need to make my opinion on it publicly. Which is the whole point of this entertainment blog site. I’m like, my own critic. I don’t like keeping opinions to myself and feel like someone else needs to hear it. This is why I’m very critical on everything. Some people are afraid to be open about these kinds of things and this is my way of showing others that you don’t need to keep things to yourselves.

PS3 Network is finally back up!

Well the PSN is finally back up! I was able to successfully log in today. Now that it is rainy and wet all day, it’s a good time to start watching some more of “Lost” – Season 1.

I watched the movie “Raging Bull” on Netflix last night and I forgot how amazing that movie really is. “Raging Bull” starring Robert Deniro and directed by Martin Scorsese is a really great film, a classic indeed. I’ve seen “Raging Bull” like a few times when I was a kid, but decided to see it again.

I’ll probably watch another movie on there today too. Probably something I’ve never seen before. Watching TV & Movies all day on a rainy day is good, when you can’t go outside.

I went to the Greenwich Y today and did my leg workout & cardio after. Today’s workout kind of kicked my ass, so I’m kind of beat. Need to relax and heal up.

Netflix DVD rentals…

So yesterday afternoon on the Netflix website, I also signed up for the extra, “DVD Rental” where you can do this, “Rent 1 movie at a time” thing for about a few dollars extra to your account. I went looking through the Netflix DVD rental and they pretty much have all the new DVD releases on there.

I selected 6 different movies but they will be getting mailed to me one at a time. I rented:

-Blue Valentine: The Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling drama that I’ve been wanting to see for a long time is finally out on DVD and Netflix has it available for rental, so that was my first pick. I should get this in the mail maybe even today or this weekend.

-Machete: The Danny Trejo action movie that was directed by Robert Rodriguez, I never got to see it and always wanted to check it out.

The Green Hornet: The new Green Hornet movie with Setth Rogan. I never saw this in theater ’cause I don’t like Seth Rogan too much. So I waited for DVD rental on this one. Hopefully this will be a good one. Who knows, I might even like it after all.

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never: I never wanted to watch this in theater since the theater audiences will be full of teen girls. So I waited for DVD. The reviews are saying this is actually a good movie even if you don’t like Justin Bieber, so I decided to select this one for Netflix rental. I’ve said before, I have no problem with Justin Bieber, he’s kind of cool and a badass to me.

-Faster: The Dwayne Johnson and Billy Bob Thornton action movie I never saw in theater. I hope to check this out soon, ’cause I am a huge fan of the Rock and interested in seeing Billy Bob playing the badguy.

-Wall Street II: Money Never Sleeps: Another movie I never got around to seeing. I wanted to, but never got a chance. I hate Shia Labeouf as an actor, but I love Michael Douglas.

There you have it. Considering the PS3 Network is still down and I can’t watch Netflix on my PS3, I figure I would do this Netflix DVD rental thing.
