Kanye West is about to release a new album, but his record label banned the album cover ’cause they felt it was too racy. Kanye posted the album cover himself on twitter.
On his twitter page, he also tweeted these:
“In the 70s album covers had actual nudity… It’s so funny that people forget that… Everything has been so commercialized now.”
“So Nirvana can have a naked human being on they cover but I can’t have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings”
While the cover maybe a bit too racy, Kanye haters. I’m going to have side with him on this one. Kanye is so right. Nudity with album covers have been happening for YEARS since the 70’s. Album covers had nudity that weren’t paintings either. The Nirvana album cover Kanye was reffering to, was the album cover for, “Nevermind”, the naked baby in the swimming pool. Also, John Lennon and Yoko Ono even did some nude photo art for albums as well.
Take a look at this list. Those are all albums that had nudity. David Bowie had himself naked as a painting for the album cover, “Diamond Dogs”. The Blind Faith album cover had a naked woman on it as a painting holding a airplane, remember that one?
Kanye’s album cover is not that big of a deal, in my opinion, so it deserves to be published for the album cover. Kanye’s in the right, this time.

Edit to add: Oh yeah, another album cover I forgot to mention is Janet Jackson’s, fifth album “Janet” made in 1993. Remember that one, folks? That album cover had her on it, she was topless, no bra or anything, but she had a guy behind her holding her boobs. That cover was a bit racy but it got published anyway.
