Directed by: Tom Hooper
So today I decided to go see the movie, “The King’s Speech”. Here is my review.
Plot/Synopsis: The story revolves around Prince Albert, Duke of York (Colin Firth) who is about ready to become King George the VIth. Prince Albert must prepare for a major speech when he becomes King George VI, must do a radio speech for a large audience. However, Prince Albert has a very bad speaking problem, aka, speech impediment. Prince Albert’s wife, Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter) tried to get her husband to work with a speech therapist named, Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush). Prince Albert must improve his speaking skills to prepare for the day he becomes, King George VI.
I saw this film because of the Oscar buzz, obviously. I wanted to see why it got the most nominations. I can see why, because the film is really good. The movie was actually entertaining and fun. It has a very huge chance of sweeping up all the awards at the Oscars. Sorry to say. Of course, I was most impressed with Colin Firth’s acting. The man was amazing. Probably the best acting I’ve seen in a long time, so I know he will win Best Actor, no matter what happens. The script was really good, the drama actually kept me at the edge of my seat, and it kept me guessing. It’s a thinking movie for sure. To make the movie not boring, they added a lot of humor through it.
I know this a short review, but as long you love a film so much, there’s not much to say about it, since it is perfect and nothing wrong with it. The film was fantastic, and worth seeing. Definitely go check this one out.
Score for “The King’s Speech” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent”)
