Report: Mason Jennings releases new album, but this one is rock n’ roll, not an acoustic one???

Pretty much all of Mason Jennings records are slow, acoustic folk type of stuff. Well, he’s got a new album out called, “Blood of Man” which is his 8th studio album.

In this album, Mason rocked it up some more by making it a rock n’ roll record more than his usual acoustic music. He is still signed on to Jack Johnson’s record label, Brushfire Records, but when Mason submitted “Blood of Man” to the label, he was worried that the album was going to get rejected. The reason? Brushfire records is mostly a label that’s for mellow and slow type of stuff, it’s not really for rock records. Turns out the people at, Brushfire Records, loved Mason’s new album and confirmed it for release.

Mason also plans to tour in support of the new album. He will record these shows live but there are no plans for a Mason Jennings live album at this point.

Mason is one of my favorite singer/songwriters, I love the guy’s music. I hope he comes around here in the Albany area when he tours ’cause I would go see him if he does!

Looking forward to getting his new record! I listened to clips of it and there is electric guitar on it!

Now that I think of it, I’ll be able to collect the rest of his older albums from Itunes store which I will do soon.

Listen to Mason’s new song “Ain’t No Friend of Mine” with some rockin’ electric guitar in the video below!

CD Review: Mason Jennings “In the Ever”…

Mason Jennings born in Honolulu, Hawaii is a pop/rock/folk singer/sonwriter who is known for writing acoustic based songs with catchy melodies, intimate lyrics, and distinct Dylanish like singing voice. Mason is a high school dropout to pursue his dreams to make a living on playing music. The young Mason Jennings released several albums under small indie labels over the years and very quicly grew a huge following of his music. His fans are mostly people of the young generation in their early teens to the thirties. Mason only had one album signed under a major label which was “Boneclouds” under Epic records released in 2006, the album included the hit single “Be Here Now”.

Now Mason Jennings is no longer on a major label and went back to his indie roots where he started. He is now signed under Jack Johnson’s owned label Brushfire Records and released the new album “In the Ever” through it. After listening to the album a couple of times, I really enjoyed it. Some of my favorite tracks on the record are “Something About Your Love”, “I Love You and Buddha Too”, “Fighter Girl”, and “How Deep Is That River”. I pretty much enjoy the entire album but those songs I listed I love the most.

I’m happy for Mason for going back to his indie label roots, because there is a big difference between “Boneclouds” and “In the Ever”. “Boneclouds” was an ok album, but “In the Ever” is ten times much better. I would reccomend it.

Score for Mason Jennings “In the Ever” = *** (3 stars as in “good”)

Congrats on going back to indie Mason! Back to his roots where he belongs!

In case you haven’t noticed, now that Mason is no longer a major label artist, you can see he has more time to post in his myspace blog himself more often now. When he was signed in Epic, he hardily ever posted in his blog.

His new songs are sounding great and I’m definitely getting the new album!
