So last night, I watched UFC 106 ppv, and it turned out to be the best PPV of UFC I’ve seen all year-long. I was impressed with pretty much every fight, except for the first one, “Amir Sadollah vs. Phil Baroni” was kind of boring fight. The rest of ’em were amazing.
The fight I was impressed with the most was Josh Koscheck vs. Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. That fight made WWE’s Wrestlemania looked really bad. It felt like a Wrestlemania fight, but it was ten times better. Koscheck and Johnson are both very technical fighters, with speed and strength. Yes, both were very quick. There was a point where Johnson, busted Koscheck’s eye to a bloody mess with his knee and couldn’t see through that eye. It was an illegal move. The fight was about to end because the officials felt that Koscheck couldn’t move on, but Kosheck himself talked the officials out of cancelling the rest of the fight, which they didn’t. They kept the fight going and Koscheck was still able to fight even with a busted eye.
Koscheck with a busted eye, pissed him off. So that fired the guy up and fighting even more aggressively. Koscheck decided to bust Anthony Johnson’s eye in return, by doing what it looks like a punch at first, but Koscheck pokes Johnson in the eye with his index finger. So that got Johnson’s eye injured badly. Josh Koscheck got his revenge. The fight still kept going, beating the hell out of each other in a very quick motion and Koscheck won in the second round by a tapout from Johnson. Amazing fight, I had goosebumps watching this one.
“Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin 2” was also actually a very good one. I never saw the first fight before, when they did a re-run of the first match for UFC “Unleashed” on SPIKE before the PPV, the fight was kind of embarrassing, they were fighting like pussies in the first fight.
The second one which is considered to be the comeback of Tito Ortiz, coming out of a hiatus, it was actually a much better fight than the first. Tito sucked…still… all he did was stand there, didn’t punch or kick that much. All Tito did was do a bunch of take downs. Everytime Tito tried to do a takedown, Forrest Griffin would avoid ’em. Forrest was making it look too easy to escape the takedowns from Tito. Even though Forrest had a bloody face, yes, blood was all over his face, Tito was bleeding too a little bit…Forrest was able to get the win by split decision.
Gotta hand it to Forrest Griffin, he gets my respect. He did really great and much improvement. Forrest must of worked really hard to get his revenge on Tito and he was successful. I would much prefer Forrest knockin’ out Tito really hard, but I have a feeling that Tito will challenge him a third rematch with him. So maybe next time if another fight happens between these two.
The ppv was really really good, and I’ll probably watch these two fights again this afternoon.
