The surviving members of the legendary jam band the Grateful Dead will reunite for a special one off reunion show on October 13th to help raise money for and awareness of presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh, and Bill Kreutzmann will reunite but will have a special guest surprise frontman to replace Jerry Garcia.
Take a wild guess on who the new Grateful Dead frontman is going to be. Yes, that’s right, it is going to be Warren Haynes, the current guitarist/singer who is now singing for the Allman Brothers Band and Gov’t Mule.
Jerry Garcia died in the year 1995 of a heart attack while living in a drug rehab clinic, it was due to his heavy illegal drug use. The band the Grateful Dead continued to tour after he passed on.
The reason the band accepted this opportunity was that they wanted to use this performance as a test for a possible future full world tour with Warren Haynes fronting the band full time.

I would prefer Trey Anastasio being the new frontman of the Grateful Dead but Warren Haynes is real cool, I guess. Warren Haynes is an underrated musician and he could use some more mainstream recognition, this will help him get known a little more.
