Cool Video: Trailer for Stallone’s Indian Bollywood film, “Kambakkht Ishq” (aka Incredible Love)

Remember the Indian Bollywood movie that Stallone agreed to do a cameo in after he finished “Rambo”? Well here it is!

Even though the film was made in the USA, it’ll only be released in India since it’s a Bollywood film.

Enjoy the laughs.

  1. I think it’s pretty cool that a movie made just for India is in English. Weird, huh? What do you make of that?

  2. You’re right, most educated Indians know English to some extent, and many know it with perfect fluency. There are over a dozen languages in India, with hundreds of regional dialects, so English is the only language they really have in common across the entire subcontinent (including Pakistan and Sri Lanka.) They would call this a lingua franca. If you watch the two Indian channels on cable you’ll see that even though most programs are in the Hindi language, some programs are 100% English, and when they aren’t, English is sprinkled throughout. Words like ambulance, mobile phone, and hospital, and phrases like, “hello, who is calling please,” when people answer a phone. It’s pretty weird, really.

Here is my theory on the film though: I think they’re making it for an international audience, or they wouldn’t be spending as much money as they have and they wouldn’t have brought on internationally known American stars. Besides the fact that there are hundreds of millions of Indians living in the US, Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, and other English speaking countries, having a big budget film where lots of things blow up is sure to get a more general audience. I wouldn’t be surprised if this shows at the Wilton Mall. Spectrum in the very least. What do you think?
