Report: “Star Trek” did well in box office, but still not the no. 1 Star Trek movie…

JJ Abrams, “Star Trek” may have made a whopping $76 million this Mother’s Day weekend, but still didn’t top, “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home”. It couldn’t even get past “Star Trek II”. Still though, no. 5 is pretty good.

There’s still a chance that JJ’s “Star Trek” could top all Star Trek movies ’cause JJ’s “Star Trek” will probably be in the theater for a pretty long while.

  1. I see a lot of online discussion saying Star Wars is better than Star Trek!
    I can’t believe these people have the nerve!
    That’s like saying Dragon Ball Z is better than Pokémon! lol lol lol!!

    Trek will forever rule. Wars is ok but c’mon!
    Get a life! ROFLMAO!!

  2. It was a good mainstream sci fi action film. It was not too Star Trek though in a lot of ways. But that is bringing in the box office $.

    I didnot realize the ST IV was so popular. I liked it.

    1. Yep, “Star Trek IV: the Voyage Home” has always been the most popular Star Trek movie. Probably the reason it’s a more family oriented film with all the humor and family like drama in the film, plus the humpback whales theme of the film is probably what attracted people to that movie also.

      I also hate these “Star Wars” vs. “Star TreK” arguments. Both franchises are totally different and I don’t see how people can compare them all the time. “Star Wars” is more popcorn action packed with cheesy and simple storylines, while “Star Trek” is more detailed science fiction.

      I guess you can say that the new “Star Trek” movie is definitely more like “Star Wars” now. JJ felt that the Star Trek movies weren’t having enough action scenes and the new “Star Trek” movie is pretty much action packed all the way through. Maybe that’s why it’s such a hit ’cause it isn’t like the earlier “Star Trek” films.
