Yep, Led Zeppelin is capable of making one last brilliant and amazing album, they can do it…don’t listen to those doubters…

Some fans want Led Zeppelin to do one last studio album together and some fans don’t. There are even some fans that don’t think a new album will ever happen for them and they aren’t capable of making new music. Believe me, I’m sure they can make one last amazing record together, with no problem at all, if Robert will ever be up for it. If what Dave Grohl said it’s true that they already made a new album together that was unreleased, I’m sure it is a great album. I’m sure they still have it with their songwriting skills. I’m sure Jimmy Page can still write brilliant guitar riffs and come up with blistering guitar solos like he always had. I’m sure Jonesy can still come up with tight bass lines. Sure, Robert may not be able to sing anymore like he did when he was younger, but I’m sure these guys will come up with anything that will fit Robert’s voice, so it can still sound like Led Zeppelin. I’m sure they can still write tight as hell songs together, like they’ve always done.

It may be pretty silly for Led Zep to do one last studio album in today’s current mainstream and yes, they’ll be accused of doing it for the money alone, but a lot of people don’t understand what being a musician or even being in a professional band is like. After years of playing music together, some bands continue on ’cause playing music with the same group of guys, is like an addiction. They can’t get away from it, you know? This is why you see Metallica still playing together. This is why Black Sabbath reunited to make an album and do a small tour. This is why Soundgarden is back. This is why Van Halen got back David Lee Roth to do an album and a full tour. It’s all about the artistic integrity and musical expression. They can’t help it of not being apart. That’s what songwriting does. It’s that powerful of a feeling. You may write songs well with other people but these guys can write better music with the same group of guys they’ve always played with. It’s not about wanting to get back together for the fans, not just that. It’s about the music. They are so used to playing music with the same members. They try other things, but their other projects are not as good and powerful as their original bands.

This is why Jimmy Page is trying his best to get Led Zeppelin back full time. He really tried. He wants to get Led Zeppelin back out there, pretty fuckin’ badly. Jimmy Page hasn’t been in the studio in a long time. The last time he did something was that album he did with Robert in ’98, “Walking Into Clarksdale” (which was a great album by the way, and still sounded like Zeppelin). The last live album he did was with the Black Crowes.

If Jimmy Page came up with a bunch of songs, and if he calls up the rest of the guys to start tracking them in the studio, they can do that. I’m sure Pagey already wrote over a hundred new songs that were meant for Led Zeppelin, anyway. See? That’s what these guys do. Make music and write songs. Robert may say that he’s not interested, but he was referring to performing “live”. He never said anything about singing in the studio. He can still do that and not perform live. If Jimmy Page needs Robert for anything, I’m sure a simple phone call will handle that problem. Jimmy and Robert has been best friends for years, they’ve done plenty of other projects together outside of Led Zep, so I’m sure Robert will be willing to do just about anything with Page.

It’s all about the music and that’s the point I’m trying to make.

  1. One reason they are incapable of writing a new album is that they’ve already exhausted all the material to steal from dead blues musicians.

    1. yeah, they have stoled or borrowed a lot from other blues musicians, but so fuckin’ what? Bands steal things from other artists all the time. Jimmy will continue to do it too. They’ll never run out of ideas. That’s what they do, man. Sit around and play all day, see what they come up with.

      1. On top of that, Jimmy’s a guitar playing genius, he’ll keep working on new music until he’s dead. Whether it will be with Led Zeppelin, a solo career or with a different band. Jimmy has full of ideas in his head all the time. That’s what guitarists do.

  2. Also, Robert Plant can’t sing anymore and Jason Bonham is a mere shell of what his father was. They don’t want to embarrass themselves.

    1. Sorry, but you’re full of shit. Robert is still a good singer. He may not be a screamer anymore like he used to be back in the old days, but he still have the pipes. He still sings great with his solo career. Jason’s drumming skills almost matches his father. I’m tired of people knocking Led Zeppelin that they can’t do anything. Bullshit if you ask me. They can do anything they want to. Why? Because they are fucking Led Zeppelin, that’s why!

  3. I get what you’re saying on why bands and musicians still play together, but you also have to understand why they do NOT continue on.

Sometimes they feel that if just one person is missing, it changes things. The4 formula. the mix, the chemistry, magic…whatever you want to call it just isn’t there anymore.

Plant. Page and Jones expressed exactly those concerns in the beginning. Without all four of them, it just isn’t Led Zeppelin. And they all have moved on to do other projects.

There have been collaborations and new music between surviving members of LZ, but none of it was called Led Zeppelin.

They say time heals all wounds, and maybe it has for Page and Jones, but in my opinion, Plant still feels the same way.

I honestly believe that if Page and Jones went to Plant, and said “Look, we got Jason Bonham and we want you. Let’s form a new band. NOT Led Zeppelin. We’ll give it a new name, and will write more to what out solo material has been.Let’s go in a different direction and not try to be Led Zeppelin”, I bet they could convince Plant.

But as long as they want to call it Led Zeppelin, they will never get Robert on board.

Know what I mean? I have no doubt that they could collectively put out a bad ass album. They are still great musicians, and still writing great music. But I just don’t think that Robert Plant will ever come around to putting the Led Zeppelin name on anything new.

    1. yeah true, but the point you’re missing that they still called themselves Led Zeppelin doing the 02 show in ’07 even without, Bonzo. I’m all cool with a different name, but Jimmy can do anything he wants with Led Zeppelin ’cause he’s the leader. It’s his band. I believe he owns the trademark with the Led Zeppelin band name, which is why they continue to use the name with all the live releases. I don’t think naming a new album under the Led Zeppelin name will hurt anything.

It didn’t stop Alice In Chains from going on without Layne Staley and they continue to name themselves Alice In Chains, even with a new singer. Black Sabbath continues on over the years without their original members. The Who continued on under their name even without Entwhistle or Keith Moon.

It’s all good. If Led Zep puts out a new studio album under their name, I don’t think it’ll harm anything at all.

  4. They still called themselves LZ at O2 because all they played was LZ music from their catalog. Nothing new.

And you’re the one missing the point. Sure, JP can go out there with three entirely new musicians and call it Led Zepplin if he wanted too. But they all have enough respect for each other to honor the others wishes.

Different bands do different things. Look at Queen-They went on as “Queen with Paul Rodgers”. Not just as “Queen”.

Look at what happened with Pink Floyd and their legal battles over the use of the name. It doesn’t matter what you, me or anyone else thinks. Only three voices really matter, and that’s Page, Plant and Jones. It’s obvious that Plant still wants to make music and your-he’s doing exactly that right now, heading to S. America next month. He just doesn’t want to do it as “Led Zeppelin”, and Page is a big enough man to respect that.

And honestly, I think it’s too late to turn back now and start up Led Zeppelin again. By sticking to their guns as long as they have, they’ve elevated it to a whole new level of sacredness that can’t- or shouldn’t be- undone.
