Country music legend Eddy Arnold died today at an assisted living center near Nashville. He was 89 and would have been 90 on May 15th. Eddy Arnold was one of the most popular country artists back in the old days as he made a lot of chart toppers in the Billboard with songs like “Make The World Go Away,” “I Want To Go With You,” “Turn The World Around,” “I Really Don’t Want To Know” and “You Don’t Know Me.”
Eddy Arnold is survived by his children and his wife Sally Gayhart Arnold died in March. Eddy Arnold continued to make music after all these years, his latest release was “After all this Time” which was released back in 2005, which would be his 100th studio album.
The longtime keyboardist for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Danny Federici died yesterday at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City after a three year battle with melanoma. Federici has been a member of the E Street Band for over 40 years. Other than the keyboards, he also played the accordian.
Legendary actor Charlton Heston died yesterday, he died in his Beverly Hills home with his wife Lydia by his side. He has been battling alzheimer’s for a long time. He is famous for his most well known roles such as Moses in the “Ten Commandments”, he played “Ben-Hur” and most of all played the lead in the original “Planet of the Apes”.
Charlton Heston continued acting in films. In some of his newer roles of movies he can also be seen in Tim Burton’s remake of “Planet of the Apes”, Heston played General Thade’s father if I remember correctly. He also played a role in the western “Tombstone” starring Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer. He also played Spencer Trilby in “True Lies” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.
The creater of the famous McDonald’s breakfast sandwich the Egg McMuffin’, Herb Peterson, has passed away at the age of 89. Peterson died peacefully at his Santa Barbara home. Before he died he was still the vice president of operations for McDonald’s restaurants. Peterson was famous for inventing a breakfast sandwich called the Egg McMuffin which is just an egg, a slice of Canadian bacon, topped with cheese and covered with two buttered english muffins. The sandwich has became a hit ever since. He was also the first to bring breakfast to McDonald’s food chain. Peterson loves McDonald’s so much that he would even talk with customers while they’re eating and make friends with the employees.
Peterson has worked with the McDonald’s food chain for more than 30 years. He is survived by his wife and three daughters.
Oh my, this makes me want to go to McDonald’s this weekend some morning to grab a couple of Egg McMuffins in honor of Peterson. Everyone else should do the same!
Neil Aspinall has always been known as the “fifth” Beatle, he was the original road manager for the Beatles and was the band’s business empire owner for over 40 years. After the breakup of the beatles in 1970, Neil Aspinall continues to hold that title of the “fifth” Beatle by keeping the Beatles legacy alive. He was also the chief exceutive of Apple Ltd. Aspinall continued to help defend the band by the never ending lawsuits thrown at the band over the years. He is the one that went on tours to bring the Beatles to all their concerts.
Legendary science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke just died. He’s the writer of the famous science fiction novel “2001: A Space Oddysey” and worked on the screenplay with Stanley Kubrick for the film.

Oscar award winning film director Anthony Minghella died last Tuesday morning due to suffering a brain hemorrhage in a hospital in London, England. Anthony is most well known for his work such as “Cold Mountain”, “The English Patient”, and “Truly, Madly, Deeply”. He was partners with film maker and actor Sydney Pollack in Mirage Enterprises.
