Hear me cover, “I’ll Be Your Mirror” in tribute to Lou Reed…

Video no. 3 of my tribute series to Lou Reed. Here I am covering, “I’ll Be Your Mirror” by the Velvet Underground. Doing a little finger style guitar as you can see here, I’ve been doing a lot of that.

What song will be next? I’m thinking “Heroin” or “Run Run Run”. Not sure.

Testing out my Ustream page…

This morning I decided to test out the Ustream on the Ipad, and it seems to be working beautifully. I just quickly tested out the live broadcasting, and after I finished recording, it automatically made the video of your recording. See the test video here, if you want. So even if I’ll be live broadcasting on the Ipad, you can still watch my live-streaming anywhere like your home computers, laptops, Iphones, Ipads or whatever other gadgets you have.

I want to do a live-stream home performance right in this room sometime in the future. I’ll probably cut it down to 1 and a half hour performance instead of 2 hours, though.

I’ll schedule a live-stream performance as soon as I get enough new material written. I’m going to be doing a mix of old songs and new stuff for this performance. Not a lot of musicians and bands do live-stream performances on the internet and I think it’s a good idea to do.

When I’m ready to do this thing, I’ll start promoting the live-stream so I can get a buzz going and try to get a lot of people interested.

Internet live-stream performances is a good idea ’cause if you don’t gig and if you want people to see you, the internet is a good opportunity for it. Instead of performing my new songs at a venue somewhere, I’ll do it all on the internet instead for a live performance.

I’ll keep you updated on this.

What will I do with a live performance?

Since I’m writing songs again, some may wonder if I will ever perform live again. The answer is, “I don’t know”. However, I’m planning on doing a special live-stream performance at home for the internet. Something I’ve always wanted to do. Schedule a live 2 hour performance for live stream, right here in this room. I’ll light up the room with candles and all — give it an acoustic feeling. I’ll try to schedule the performance at night ’cause I know people work during the day. I’m thinking the first hour will be me performing old classics, and the second hour new stuff. I gotta get a bunch of new originals together first, though. I think a live internet performance would be a lot of fun and it’s something I’ve been planning a long time. I think it needs to finally happen soon. It’ll probably be on a weekend too. I’m not sure what site I will do the live-stream acoustic performance maybe at Google hangout, Skype or something like that. I’ll see if the Ipad has any Apps for live video streaming. I wanna perform again and I think an live-internet stream is perfect for that. This won’t happen right away, though but I need to write a bunch of new songs first which is getting worked on.

The live internet performance will be a free viewing for everyone. I’m not gonna be like other bands where they make you pay for their live streaming performances, disrespectful. I’ll figure something out.

Re-uploaded song…

Re-uploaded song, “Leave This Place“.

I think I got the song to sound a little better with lesser background hissing. Sounds decent to me, I think. I don’t notice the background hissing in the vocals. I recorded without the preamp so I think I’ll record without the preamp from this point forward.

This song is getting good feedback and it’s very cool! I’ll record myself on a youtube video performing that song soon.

There’s going to be many more songs coming, folks, as I’m already at work on another one!

New Song: “Leave This Place”

Got the song uploaded. Sound quality doesn’t sound too bad actually! Enjoy this, hopefully! Just a warning… this song is kind of country and folkie a little bit. I’m real proud of it, though. It’s a definite keeper! The lyrics are done in free verse poetry form as I said.

Enjoy it, here.

Here are the lyrics:

“Leave This Place”

Take a drive through this town.
See what’s cool around here.
There’s nothing to do.
Oh no, there isn’t.

Take a walk through the street.
See if there’s anything fun.
There’s nothing around here,
So you just leave.

CHORUS:
What is wrong with this town?
It isn’t what it used to be.
What is wrong with this town?
All you want is to enjoy yourself.
Leave this place (3x’s)

Take a walk, through the mall.
Browse around, through the stores.
There’s nothing to buy.
Oh no, there isn’t.

Take a walk down the hall.
Find something else to shop for
and there is nothing.
So you just leave.

Repeat Chorus

Leave This Place (3x’s, after instrumental break)

New song coming tomorrow…

I’ll post a new original song tomorrow. Keep in mind though, that the sound quality is probably not gonna be all that great. It’s a homemade recording so it’s just a demo and a song idea, that’s all. It still sounds okay and you can still hear it pretty good except you might hear a little background hissing but not too bad.

I guess the only possible way that I will be able to record perfectly clean is that my only other choice is to record in a professional local studio which I will do someday when ever I come up with the money.

I was thinking about recording a new demo in Edie Road studios in Greenwich but I don’t like their rates/pricing. I feel that place is way overpriced and kind of a rip-off. I’m sure you can still find very good studios around the Capital District area that are more affordable and cheaper than that. There are good studios around here where they let you record $10 – $20 per hour which I think is better, in my opinion. I’m not knocking Edie Road’s studio btw… I’m sure they’re really good and I’m sure they make beautiful sounding demos… I just hate their pricing. I hear that Don Fury Studios is pretty decent so I’ll probably go with that one. I had my eye on Don Fury for a while and I think he’ll be good to work with. I know he records punk and rock bands mostly but I think he’ll like working with my stuff. I think he does all genres.

I’ll have the song uploaded tomorrow. I think you’re gonna like this one. This blog has been slow today ’cause I was recording vocals for the song most of the day. All done now.

Recorded guitar tracks for a song in garageband today…

I spent most of the day recording guitar tracks into GarageBand on the Ipad. It’s just a song idea, that’s all. I’m real proud of how it came out so far, though. It’s gonna be a good song, I think. People could potentially like this one. It’s a short slow ballad kind of song. This one is finger style. A lot of my upcoming new songs will probably be finger style aka finger picking. I wanna start writing songs without a guitar pick. Acoustic songs are more interesting this way. I’m planning to record vocals tomorrow for this song and I’ll have it uploaded sometime this week.

You may hear a bit of a change in my voice, though. I think my singing is different than before. I’m trying to take vocals a little more seriously. I tried to sing my older songs from the past but I feel that I can’t sing my older songs anymore ’cause of the change in my vocals. I think my voice has gotten stronger. I’m hoping you’ll notice the change too.

Can’t wait to upload this new song. I just wanna see what kind of feedback it’s gonna get and am feeling it’s gonna be a good one. I know I should let the music speak on it’s own but when you’re proud of your own song; chances are, people are gonna like it too.

I’m starting to get a lot of people wondering when am I going to release new music? Well, I feel it’s time. That’s part of why I’m getting back into the songwriting thing again finally ’cause there are people wanting new stuff from me. Well, the wait is just about over. It’ll be worth the wait, trust me.
